He may never hit another homerun, he might hit 500, but he can always say "I knocked my first one out in my home at the Bronx, wearing pinstripes as my family watched."
Sounds like a dream come true 👏👏
Velasquez going to be the next Jeter mark my words. Keep this kid in the major leagues.
@@DjStilettos nah, I mean he’s already 27
@@savagecabbageboi6491 *27?* Shoot, it means his best years are ahead! I'm with you, *Maritza.*
The he may hit 500 part just ruined it but yea
This is every baseball kids dream. Play the game, get good enough to play for the hometown team, and smash a homerun! Feels good.
My dream definitely wasn't to be hispanic hahahaha

love that line
And they guy who caught the ball gave it over without asking for anything!!! You sir are a Rockstar!!!
Not like Zach Hample
It’s Zack Hample and what Zack usually asks for is to simply meet the player and hand it himself. He is often met with gifts anyway. (Barring the A-Roid incident)

Hitting his first HR in his hometown in front of his family gotta be one helluva moment and he was just smiling ear to ear the whole way. This kid sure looks promising.

That's a life changing moment right there.
Zero to sixty.
He still lives with his parents imagine how he’s feeling nothing but respect for his hustle and hard work 💯
Nope. Not changing.
As a kid he lived minutes away from the stadium and his first home stand has been productive. He’s helped to win these games with offense and defense. Very rare for a neighborhood kid to play at Yankee Stadium.
a bronx kid to actually play for the yankees actually hasn't ever happened. the baseball cube says only 31 players born the bronx have played in mlb.
LOU GEHRIG DID THAT. FROM THE LOWER EAST SIDE
@@mariocisneros911 Lou Gehrig was from Yorkville on the Upper Eastside. That was the big German community in Manhattan at that time.
Sandy koufax did it. Born in Brooklyn, played in Brooklyn
I get he wasn't a Yankee but New York is New York.
As a Bronx native and diehard Yankee fan, this hits different. Really enjoying this story arc. Cheers! 🥃
No it "hits" like all other homeruns, hard and crisp.
@@erichvonmanstein6876 thank you, literalist
Me too! And I'm from Staten Island. We need more good news like this coming from NY. I hope his Family got the ball.

AS A BRONX NATIVE , IM PROUD IT AINT MANY OF US THAT LIVE THIS DREAM 🔥🙏🏾
Kid has so much talent, switch-hitter… and his energy is off the charts. Let’s go Yankees!
Yeah he has so much talent which is why he couldn't even get playing time for a sorry Baltimore Orioles team😂
@@jonesvaughn8946 have you been watching the last 2 series that the yanks played? The kid is an up and coming all star
@@heyguy3417 the dude is 27 and has already played for four teams in his 4 years in the majors and has never gotten more than 77 at bats in his four years in the league not to mention in one of those four years he was playing for the worst team in baseball and still couldn't get playing time so you can't be considered a talented player when you have played for that many teams in your 4 years in the league and not having more than 77 at bats in any of those years
@@jonesvaughn8946 watch the Yankees game tomorrow he will impress you
@@heyguy3417 and I'm pretty sure if any team thought he was a talented player he wouldn't have gotten traded four times in just his four years in the league and he definitely wouldn't have gotten only 77 at bats as his most at bats he's ever gotten in four years in the league
I'm not a Yankees fan but that was fun to watch. Good for him.
Yankees, my number one team to HATE! But that story is why I LOVE baseball! You can tell that kid has a huge family support team.
Nothing like making your mom come to tears.. Proud of you in front of the world ❤ lifetime memories even if he hits 750 homers..
You have To go all around the world…. just to make it back home.
Andrew Velazquez…. You achieved something only few ever did. Salute!!!!💯💪🏾

My cousin was born in the Bronx. Played little league in Pennsylvania. Played high school ball in Florida. Drafted by the Red Sox at 17 and was in the farm system for a few years before making the Orioles 40 man. Watching him pitch to Alex Rodriguez and other Yankees at Yankee stadium on Mother’s Day a couple of years back was PRICELESS!!! …and emotional. The entire family was there to see
Once the adrenaline and cheers drops off, the tears of joy comes upon the family.
This is why it's fun to watch baseball
Loved how we was smiling ear to ear from first base to home! Definitely one of the best feel moments of the year!! Well done kid!!!
hes so happy cuz after hitting a 310ft ball and its legally a HomeRun now he knows what its like to be the other gender - he can now re-assign his gender after being proud of that 310ft home run. You Go Girl!!!!
Imagine be a kid of the Bronx, fan of the Yankees and wen you grow up, be there and hit a home run, that' s so great.
If only there was a Video of that
Yep and I'll took was for you to get traded for times because you're not that good just so lucky enough to land on the Yankees...just like he drew it up lol
Can only imagine the amount of sacrifices that whole family has made to give him this opportunity
As a true dedicated Yankees Fan since '73, This made my Eyes water up!!!!
You aren't true or dedicated. You're a small racist.
That was 1 of my dreams I always had playing in the league on my favorite team and playing in front of my family and friends and making them proud 👏 🥲. I cried watching this happy for this young man and family
Looked like he hit it off a tee. Great swing and a beautiful moment.
Nope. No tee.
looks like Tee ball alright. Little league 310ft fences lol. what a dam joke
That smile is like no other, you can see the child inside of him cheering as he runs. May not be my team, but rooting for him nonetheless!
What a beautiful moment! Congrats to Andrew and his proud family.
Hi from Canada...i
am gonna follow his career...he has the right stuff...WTG young gun
I hate the yanks but I’m so happy for the kid, I’ve been watching him lately and I think he’s gonna be good
That's the thing about baseball. It brings people together.

I was born and raise in the Bronx and my mother is also Puerto Rican. When Velasquez homered, I cried of happiness and pride. So many talented kids never get the chance to show off their talent and overlooked. Allen was sent down too early please Yankees keep Velasquez in the major leagues , he is going to be a superstar.
Lived in 3 different places in South Bronx. Hometown Velasquez! New nickname?
@@YuriBurgundy definitely 💪

What an amazing moment for that mother and the family. I really really enjoy watching that really touched my heart I do understand believe me I do understand
Puerto Rican power. 🇵🇷 We are so proud of him up in the Bronx couldn't be happier for him and his family. Ms. Garcia his grandmother has been in the same neighborhood for over 40 years everyone loves her. Mighty Yankees are awesome

That grin as he rounded third says it all. Congratulations, Andrew, from a Braves fan!
That’s 1 of the coolest things ever as a life long diehard Bronx bomber fan with the history and the best moments in my life we’re spent at the old Yankee stadium at playoff and World Series games while my family is no longer here GODBLESS
I can't even imagine the feeling for that kid and his family. Amazing, as me a kid who grew up in the area, just wow.
I am a NEWBIE to the game of baseball, and I never heard of this fellow and his family until now. I HAVE WATERFALL TEARS FOR THEM, AND MY HEART WISHES THEM WELL!!!!
It feels good to have someone who supports you this deep. My wife is invested in the gigs I play right along with me. Not that she was crying, but she definitely reciprocated the excitement I had when a club was hopping from my building-shaking bass
The kid made good. Priceless⭐️⚾️⭐️⚾️⭐️⚾️⭐️
He’s been having such a great week. Playing for his home team, a game saving play, and his first home run. What a great game
Born and Bred in the Bronx baby !
Although I’m a Red Sox fan I’m truly happy for him !
Great to see this, very happy for the family
Nobody is ever happier to see u succeed than the women that love you and stand with you all the way
Her little boy just hit a homer run for the Yankees
Bro his smile says it all, gotta love baseball!!!
Not a lot of players have the opportunity to do so, good for him, gotta feel nice
I hope they saved those Tissues, Congrats Home Boy!!! and Family!!!
Fantastic! What a moment for him!!!
I keep smiling every time I play it over!!! GOOOOO Veláquez that’s was DOPE I Love My Yankees.
What a dream come true. Kids got a good career ahead of him
He's 27 homie... plus I got to imagine his dream wasn't to finally make it to the majors hitting under 200 for his career at age 27
Red Sox and Mets fan here. Always despised the Yankees. This story was awesome and why I love baseball and why baseball is king in the USA! 🇺🇸
He lives with his parents. I hope he makes it and his parents live with him………….. keep working hard hope you make it BIG..
How can you not love this?
Priceless. Great young man.
What's his stance on Abortion?
@@dajosee because if hes gonna be bringing those pacino pizzas around.....could be trouble
Even though I'm not a Yankees Fan the significance of this he dreamed of this as a little kid no doubt many times as a Yankee and then did it you know how many kids dream of something like this and it never happens talking big numbers like hitting the mega millions lottery they all dream about it but he did it. I'm teared up right now too.
Such a cool moment. Gives the same feelings of Camarena’s grand slam
You're thinking of Augustus Camstein of the old Philadelphia Eagles ball club.
@@billyjackbuzzard he is thinking about Daniel Camarena, relief pitcher of the SD Padres, hometown kid from San Diego who hit a grand slam on his first hit of his career earlier this season at Petco Park. He actually was drafted by the Yankees....
Red Sox fan here... How can you not be romantic about baseball, awesome moment here.
He’s going to be a star.
Yankee fan overhyping a young player?
Thats a new one
@@NothingToPointOut24 Don’t judge a book by its cover.
@@syon6176 no we're judging it by his 188 career average. And the fact that the Yankees paid 111 million dollars in payroll this year and a lot of the fans seem to be pinning their hopes on this nobody
That’s what I love about baseball ❤
I was at this game, pretty epic
No you weren't. You were at your mom's boyfriend's house cooking breakfast.
he was at his wifes boyfriends uncles house making him omlettes while watching espn…
That has to be the greatest feeling in the world
He's been killin it....the Yankees need more players like this guy and less home run hitters
Lol
I got choked up listening to this game and I'm a Twins fan. I had been listening to an earlier Yankees game and knew he was a hometown kid.
I'm a Mets fan, but that's a whole other set of misery, but as a baseball fan this is the stuff dreams are made of. What a story and moment. I hope he stays in pinstripes the rest of his career. His family would be fun to watch in his journey. What a blessing
That one was for his whole family. Beautiful.
His parents are from Puerto Rico so we are going to claim him! 💪🏽🇵🇷
Wepa!
You can totally totally do that.
You better claim him . I think he got special all over him , if he gets the opportunity to showcase it . Esta duro muchacho.🇩🇴🔥🔥🔥👍
That smile on his face as he rounded the bases and crossed home plate is priceless. Happy for you kid!
Go Mariners 😎
Its like Rudy all over again, bringing men to tears
Or women in this case
With just as much talent.....btw, most of Rudy was bullkaka
Edit: according to Joe Montana who was the ND QB at that time
Stros fan here, this is awesome. Best of luck, kid!
He lives with his parents too! C’mon Giancarlo, let the kid stay at your mansion!
Don't change a thing!
Stanton could buy him own mansion....but yeah don't change a thing. Although.....he is a real Yankee fan at heart so I don't think money and fame would change the way he would play in pinstripes. When you want a team to win because you're a real fan and not just an employee that brings a whole another level of competitiveness.
Lifelong Dodger fan here. But, i always love seeing these stories. The dedication, sacrifice, and commitment is so awesome!!!
Doesn't matter the sport. I always love these stories.
I must be cutting onions right now! 😢😢😢

Congratulations on your success. You certainly deserve everything you worked for.
There's a tropical storm there now
