add a layer on top of the layer you wish to 'clip', to the right of the layer's panel you will see an icon with a 'down arrow'. Select the layer on top and then select the clipping mask icon then paint away to your hearts content. (the below lay will be clipped). You can add multiple clips as well on separate layers Hope this helps you ( 💋 Leah ) .
