Thank you for taking the time to visit us for the day we had returned K163 to public operations after it's extensive mechanical overhaul. Your video shares so much awesome information of the Mornington Lines history including our operations as a tourist attraction on the Mornington Peninsula.
Such a lovely old rail line and that steam engine has been restored absolutely beautifully. It's really nice to see parts of history preserved like this.
Good to see they finally got it back running! I dream about the day they reconnect the track to baxter. Imagine if all the rail fans in victoria got together for a weekend and did like a working bee there.
@@WillJamesRailways Hopefully i know if they did a working bee/ fundraiser event thing a lot of people would be keen to help out. I know when puffing billy was being restored to gem brook my father went up there every day as a teenager or young adult i cannot really remember and would lay the track well obviously these days you cannot have kids doing that stuff and all the OHS that comes with it but if they did one for like cutting up the trees and cutting back the weeds ect along the track so they could have it inspected you know and so you can walk along it at least that would be great. I contacted a volunteer there a while ago about maybe doing one he never got back to me though apart from telling me he would ask someone higher up about it and that he thought it was a good idea.
Thank you Will, a very good video you have made another very informative Minnie view of history. We are glad you are able to let us know what is going on with heritage railway groups. Keep up you production.
I love the fact that our state government had the forward planning back in the late 00s to build a tunnel under Peninsula Link. So the trains will one day be able to join the main line to Melbourne.
Nice video Will. Nice to see K163 back at Mornington. I'm planning on going up around the end of the month or early February as I missed out on that day. It's been a few years since I have been to the Mornington Railway it will be good to go back up. - Nicholas.
Wonderful video as always will! Was good to see you down and have you down! Hope the carbide was a good one with such a wonderful crew! I always see me in two clips haha 😅
Another great video Will!! This has just strengthened my resolve to get to see this railway. IT seems from your video, that they allow cab rides - or was that specifically organised by yourself? Either way - I'll make an effort to get out there.
It would be nice for sure, but at least you can get the train to Frankston and any of a number of buses from there to Mornington, Dromana, and even Rosebud. Hopefully, they can get the line extended to Baxter over time and it would be a great rail trip then.
To be honest, doesn’t look any worse than the rest of the Frankston/Casey/Cardinia area. All the rain in late Spring/earlier Summer made controlling the growth impossible, even now councils and VicRoads are still playing catch up.
The problem is that with most railway preservation groups they have more jobs to do than they have members to do them. You could always become a member of the society and help them with this task instead of complaining about it.

Thank you for running a great railway!

Certainly is Brendan!

Would be great! Maybe when they get the green signal to go ahead they can organise big working days! Who knows!

@@WillJamesRailways Also cannot wait to see more of your content through 2023, Keep up the good work man!
@@WillJamesRailways hope to see you next week at the Geelong model railway exhibition mate 👍
For the open day at Newport Workshops last year, I was lucky enough to blow whistle of K163. Great to see back in action. 😊👍🏼

Thank you mate!
I am so pleased that this little railway seems to be prospering. It's like 'the little railway that could'. Another excellently made video. 😊👍
A great thing to see Pauline!

Yeah I reckon! Hopefully it’s soon! Thanks for watching!

Excellent to hear!

Thanks Michael!

Thank you mate!
Did the trip as part of the 707 Ops "Somerville Sojourn" tour back in 2019 and was there shortly the same day as this video
Great stuff Jordy
hello Will -talking about Tourist trains, is there a Walker Railcar in operation someplace? thank you
Hey! Thanks for watching! The railway at Daylesford does! I intend to make a bigger video on them some time this year!
@@WillJamesRailways good to know, sure pay them a visit -look forward to the video :)
I enjoyed watching this very much!
It was a fun day out for all Gunzals I think. But it abit hot 🥵
Thanks! Yeah I mean it was the middle of summer!
What Camera do you use?

Thanks Gavin! I do believe you can book a cab ride with them, but I think you have to call up ahead of time!
Mornington is so pretty. I wish there was a permanent train there from Melbourne so people can go to the beach there
I reckon that to Michael!
It would be nice for sure, but at least you can get the train to Frankston

Hey will can I ask are you going to the corio model railway?
Sure am mate!
Quick question, how'd you manage to get the cab ride? Is it a purchase or do you just ask?
You can book them through Mornington, they offer driver experiences from time to time! Best to contact them!
Thanks will!
I’d like to see some basics like weed killing along the track. The overgrown track doesn’t project the best image.
To be honest, doesn’t look any worse than the rest of the Frankston/Casey/Cardinia area. All the rain in late Spring/earlier Summer made controlling the growth impossible, even now councils and VicRoads are still playing catch up.
True now, but every time I’ve driven down bungower road in the last 20 years it’s looked like an abandoned line.
It’s been pretty wet! Might need to get the weedex train out!

@@aussiesith and there it is, the only response you can guarantee.
say I got you in my video to
Ah I’ll check it out!
doesnt even look like they have a workshop or a decent shed to store a locomotive going off google maps
Not like at some of the bigger railways! But they do have most of what they need it seems!
These Ol' classics should be all returned to service, and get rid of these Chinese trains that are running...
Ah the CSR’s might be a bit more reliable than a K! Still great to see it’s kept going!
Sold off to developers…….😡🤬😖
Yeah would have been grouse if it ran that close to the beach!
Is this true? Can't seem to find any info on it. Praying it's not though🙏
