I bought and started playing Snowrunner only this summer so i get civillian version of ANK and all the upgrades way before the mil spec. And this was fantastic expirience. Yeah, fuel tank is pretty small and i was tipping over a lot in first couple of hours (i think when you play this game for the first time you tipping over in everything) but that truck is making things done. You need to haul in deep mud? - sure. Need to rescue something heavy of the swamp? - no problem. Want to take special heavy cargo through the river in Smithville Dam? - it`s already done. It was really fascinating to watch this truck driving through terrains that other trucks available for you at the moment struggled a lot. Finishing Taimyr now, already have some heavies and "homeland" trucks but ANK still one of my favorites.
Hey thank you!! I am going to be starting another poll on which trucks I should review next. I'll add the T805 to the community post that will be coming out sometime in the near future. Make sure you look for it and vote for the T805
Thanks for yet another great review currently in Pedro Bay and this truck has been a massive help. Have almost completed the map, scouted it with the International Loadstar, and have just used the Western Star49x and the Mk38 that I found during the scout.
That’s awesome ! The Mk38 really is a great truck. It has gotten a rebalance to make it more stable when they added the ANK Civilian to SR. I think it’s going to be much better. Glad you’re having a great time ! Keep up the good work!
Hey Nathan! As usual, Great Video! For this one I tried to keep it in my fleet but the fuel tank/fuel consumption made me sell it fast. Also there are a lot of trucks that even they're tippier they can perform more task that this one. It's a really shame that developers did not design this truck with addons as it was supposed to be as its real counterpart.
Just started a New Game + and I was looking for a cheap and good offroad truck. After watching your review, I deceided to collect the Ank from Pedro bay and boy am I happy I did so! This truck makes the muddy sections in Michigan super easy, although fuel is a bit of a challenge. Got the active suspension for it to fit larger tires, but going to Yukon at level 5 with the Ank and Fleetstar was a bigger challenge then I expected, but still managed! Thank you for the review, I skipped this truck on my regular game play as the Vorons where better, but now I'm enjoying the Ank a lot!
@@NProvince Thanks! Figured out yesterday to drop a scout fueltrailer in de bed, means my Ank now has 1100 liters of fuel, but has to pull a trailer.. :) Used it to explore Drummond and Island lake to unlock the P16, Twinsteer and offroad gearbox.
I immediately sold this truck when i found it. i can deal with tippy trucks and the overall performance as you said is decent but dear lord that fuel consumption is a thing nightmares are made out of. You can barely finish a single simple straight up driv-from-point-a-to-point-b michigan task without running out of fuel let alone getting stuck with it.
Man your reviews are great. This is my first time ever commenting on anything. You do such a great job I had to. I keep going back to this truck just because of the POWER. But it usually leaves me disappointed for fuel and add ons. Keep up the good work man.
Cory, Thank you for those kind words brother! Ya i wish they would allow us to upgrade tank size and stuff to accomidate trucks we like to use. Perhaps in the future hopefully. Thank you again for the comment! Im glad you're enjoying them!
This truck makes an awesome medium log trailer puller, throw concrete blocks/slabs in the bed and it will pull 2 medium log trailers with no issue through bad terrain. Since I do logging missions with a crane truck that pulls a fuel wagon, the fuel is a non issue with the planned back & forth route. Although I will likely swap to something else if I can use a medium log addon and hitched trailer.
I personally love this truck, specifically the civilian variant with the small 5th wheel - with upgrades it's a "small" semi-truck that will rip up, through, and over anything. Fuel economy/stowage is total ass, but I figure the dev-team nerfed this truck because everything else about it is A+ (fully upgraded assuming). Work around the fuel problems by parking semi-trailer fuel tanks at 4 corners of the map.
So I made this video right before they did a weight rebalance and since then I have not done an update, but I think since the update these trucks have been amazing. Like you said the lack of range can be mitigated with support around the map for sure. Such a great truck!
Yeah the lack of body options really kills that ank for me if it had more I would gladly use it in Hardmode even with how hungry it is because it's a really fun truck to drive
The lack of addons and the small tank has forced me to be savvy. The highspeed gearbox not only makes it fast, but also less voracious. The small cistern trailer placed in the flatbed greatly expands the fuel supply for long distance travel, semi-trailers can be placed with their feet in the flatbed and it would be just as good as a saddle in many cases. Unfortunately, the lack of a crane will not allow you to do such loading on your own, so I tried to pair it with a truck with a crane and on large maps such a pair shows itself very well. Among the advantages it would also be worth mentioning that this truck from the very beginning is equipped with a high snorkel, and the combination of the protruding exhaust pipe and the snorkel forms convenient horns for transportation of some unpackaged cargoes, for example medium logs. I love this truck, and it is in the military version with a flatbed, which by the way from the very beginning colored in the textures of the cabin without any mods. This would be worth adding an extra point to aesthetics.
Personally, you'll only ever see me use the OG Military version, and that's for one reason and one reason only: You can paint the *entire* thing hot pink! Even its proprietary sideboard bed is paintable, and I love it for that!
A couple of your cons may become pros after phase 6 because they are tweaking the weight of the normal ank mk38 making it less tippy and adding a "civilian" version that can equip regular add ons
@@justinstrong9595 So the Civ is the same are this vehicle. You're very right its super strong and they did rebalance the weight to be much better. Honestly I would reveiw it, but it would have very similar things and almost feel redundant. The reason Saber made the Civ was because if they altered the regular mk38 with addons, it would crash the game. So thats why we got the Civ. Its a very strong truck. Love the low saddle option!
@@NProvince thanks for the reply man. Yeah I wish the civ had a damn flatbed. That irks the hell out of me. And I understand about the review thing. I saw this video and I was like "oooh that's why he hasn't done the civ"
@@NProvince i personal think that the civ version needs a flatbed.. I mean it has bad fuel efficiency. I think it needs a better purpose than being a support truck
This truck is in a much better state now. Balance buff and I like the new JAT MMD tires instead of the big custom muddies. Still committed to a 2 slot bed though. Idk why they needed to add the Civie and have two of the same truck. Just give this the addons but what do I know.
The Mk38 is, in my opinion, a bit better than the Tayga 6436. It may not have the frame adding that the 6436 has, but it hauls butt even with 5 slots of cargo on the back. It’s quite a bit faster than the 6436, but it is sadly less practical with the much fewer add ons.
I really don't get why put minimal fuel capacity in a fuel guzzler truck. At least they should've put a special gearbox same as with the azovs to combat absurd fuel consumption. I am now thinking that the game designer is bias against NA trucks
Ya... honestly I've been wondering the same. Even with tire selections the NA trucks are not really given everything that the Russians are. Im not sure what the developers had in mind for balancing. I wish i knew
The standard transmission doesn't let you force-limit your revs like the offroad, but the fuel consumption can still feel better if you manually use less throttle, or if you spend a lot of time in low, because of the multiplier. Maybe it's just me. I know there's a chart somewhere of the true multipliers...

Ya this truck is quite good especially in Yukon

Tippy as hell, but fun and fast AF. Oh yeah, and the best engine sound in the game, period.
As much as i love international trucks and Freightliner trucks, nothing could beat the ANK, it really is an armys chariot
Ya the tire options, new balance mechanics, addition of the ANK Civ (same truck) it’s really strong.

You mean general cargo or fuel/repair?
Does adding the spare tire add weight to bring down the weight?
It probably adds just the amount of what the tire weighs, but I don’t think it’s a significant amount to make a difference.
