- A New York judge has postponed the sentencing of former US President Donald Trump over hush money payments to Stormy Daniels until September 16.
The former president pushed for the delay after the Supreme Court’s ruling on immunity.
This comes after the US Supreme Court found former presidents can be immune from criminal prosecution for acts that they took in office.
I'm voting for the man who sacrificed his wealth for the country, not the guy that sacrificed the country for his wealth.

More likely the case is declared a mistrial and the conviction tossed. They would have to start over, follow the SCOTUS guidelines and probably never bring the charges to begin with.

SCOTUS doesn't make laws. Congress makes laws. SCOTUS determines constitutionality of the laws.
SCOTUS also interpets the Constitution and Federal law (which is what they did in this case), and determines the applicability of the Supremacy Clause (which they'll do in the NY case), along with many other functions.
They are the ONLY people in the USA who can truthfully say "WE ARE THE LAW".

This is not “new law!” This is reasserting existing law. See Nixon v. Fitzgerald. The only thing the SCOTUS ruling does is codifies the conditions test for immunity, absolute immunity for core constitutional powers of the office and presumptive immunity for acts within the outer perimeter of official responsibility (as in Fitzgerald) of the office. The only mechanism for challenging a President acting in an unlawful manner is impeachment by Congress, not “lawfare” by State’s Attorneys or other administrations once out of office.
