Random crits are fundamentally bs because they remove the skill, thought, and strategy involved in situations by adding a luck mechanic that directly adds variables outside of a players control, thus essentially altering and influencing the result of a situation. Without those random crits, I highly doubt that they would have gotten at least 5 kills. Random crits have never been balanced, and they are never fair. They don't belong in TF2, especially not in 2022.
Random crits have never been balanced nor fair because they are supposed to be a comedic distraction from a mostly balanced game unlike garanteed crits (which are ""fair"") and RBS (has no reason to exist) which are not even funny. Plus random crits have been a inside joke for so long that removing would be like removing a piece of history that will be remembered way more then random damage spread ever was and they are a part of the game removing would remove a part of the intended experience

I am not saying that we need them anymore because we very much don't but to say they were "intended as a comedic distraction" is just hilariously fucking stupid. When it comes to stalemate breaking this was originally envisioned in the far off world of the mid 2000s where the majority of the maps in the game where basically just Dustbowl and Dustbowl lite. Mapping and balance has gotten a bit better since then but i can assure you they were never meant to be a lmao XD game mechanic.
