The less I have to use my phone/device on the holidays the better so the lack of an app, especially one that is almost necessary, is absolutely a pro for me (and I am certainly on the younger part of the age curve for Regent clients). BUT I understand some people who love their device may want to use one.
Although we do love unplugging on the cruise, we would love an app for pre-cruise travel planning like excursions and specialty dining reservations. Even if they had the app, however, we would never opt out of receiving paper copies of Passages. We would eagerly await the arrival of the newest edition!
Elegent ship and cruise fare! Wish "dressing" for an upscale cruise would come back. For some reason seeing people dressed like they are on a Carnival cruise seems like it takes the elegance out of the "most expensie" cruise ship as you listed it in the title.
The "most luxurious" comes from Regent themselves and they set the tone with the dress code flexibility, casual dress during the day, formal dress after 6 pm. It could be argued that if you are paying that much money for a cruise, you should be able to wear what you want on the ship.
who cares if they don't have an app. Not all of us are glued to our phones. I had no trouble booking excursions, dinner reservations, etc. Some people have to complain about something.

My wife and I were just on the Navigator over Christmas and New Years. Very “intimate” ship. We had a great time. Previously we were on Mariner to Alaska last summer. Loved the ship and the people (and crew), didn’t appreciate Alaska. Two crew members remembered us from Explorer and came up to us to say a warm hello. That’s the way it is on RSSC. Two years ago we were on Explorer for Christmas and New Year’s. Great experience! Sister ship of Splendor. In June we’re off to Iberia on Voyager for 8 days. Next Christmas we’re doing the Panama Canal on Grandeur. Can’t wait. We have a “Penthouse.” Needless to say we love RSSC.
The penthouse on Grandeur will be a wonderful way to experience the Panama Canal! We sailed Alaska on the Mariner in 2017 - absolutely loved our experience and the state itself. We're actually headed back there in May (on a different cruise line) for a different experience. Sounds like you have a lot of wonderful Regent cruises ahead of you. What are some of your other favorite lines?
@@callingallports We did the Panama Canal on Holland America. It was very nice. However, they dropped us in Colon where we had to take a bus to the Pacific and boarded another “boat.” Then we had to take another bus ride back to the ship. It wasn’t the greatest experience. That’s why we’re redoing it with RSSC. We also did another cruise on HA. It was nice, but an order of magnitude less than RSSC. We don’t like being nickel and dimed.
@@snh_lname We're actually on Holland America for the first time in just over two weeks - figured it would be a nice entry to the bigger ships. An excellent video again, full of good useful information. Very much appreciated, thank you! We’re looking forward to our first Regent cruise next year!
Thanks for your response. After being on a cruise line that has a great app, I’m hesitant to go back to non-app cruising. Curious though, what is the top reason why you like being app-free?
That’s the part that I love about Azamara and Regent no app. I am on vacation don’t need my phone get leave me a piece of paper with all the events happening
While we certainly didn’t spend a lot of time on our phones, we do think an app with daily information and restaurant reservations would be helpful. Especially for when out on excursions. Holland America does a nice job with their app, so we think if Regent could provide their customers with both options, it would be great.
Regent is the only way to go when visiting exotic destinations. I can't imagine going on any other line while visiting Japan, China and Hong Kong. Not sure it would be my choice visiting the Panama Canal.
It’s a great line, but not having that open space at the front of the ship was disappointing. Want to go through the Canal again for that reason. Do you have any cruise line suggestions for that?
No App ??? Stop the world !! You mean I actually have to talk to someone and look directly at them to book events or special dinner? I doubt all of us can survive !! If the ship goes down, how will kids today survive without an App??
We fully appreciate disconnecting, we hardly use our phones on the trip. But having a simple app would give people a choice, would be convenient for many, and would allow for a more sustainable approach to providing information. Offering an app does not mean everyone has to use it. But seeing how many people were on their phones in the Observation Lounge makes us believe Regent passengers would actually appreciate one.
Thanks for your comment! Our first cruise was on the Mariner - we loved it! Where are you off to? @@bethsher202 That sounds like a fabulous trip - similar to the one we are doing on Oceania in June. They call themselves the most luxurious cruise line, and they serve you one of the cheapest champagnes on the market. It makes me smile that at a minimum of 700$ per day per person, they are not able to offer at least Veuve Clicquot or Moet champagne, or to hire anything other than Filipino or Asian. And for info the products l'occitane de provence are good products, but in no case luxury products.
as a member of the family, this ship was the most luxurious thing i have and will ever see and it was a privilege to even be on it. the staff where an absolute blessing and made our trip incredibly special

@@teresawillis7021 I respect and appreciate Filipinos and Asians, but I also know that companies used them because they can underpay them and make them work 7/7 for 6 or 9 months.
