Great video! Question, should you also wipe the glass with alcohol before installation? What about using something like a 3M adhesion promoter to help it bond even better with glass? Or so you think that is over doing it?
thank you. Dont know that product, i use rubbing alcohol, or any alcohol that is more than 70% concentration and must not contain glycol or any other chemicals
yes some spoilers are mounted on the body. Then you use a blade and gently slide it to cut away the double sided tape without scratching the paint on the car. You pull quite firmly on the spoiler pulling away from the body while you keep cutting with the blade. After spoiler is off, clean the double sided tape off the body. In most cases its fine
@@ecologicaltime Thank you so much! I'm gonna take it to a reputable body shop....have it removed and reinstalled.Even though both ends are raised up...the center is securely in place.Just afraid of it coming off at the car wash or at high speeds....Thanks for responding.
the edges lifted slightly. The unit is still very tightly glued to the car so i just put a little bit of black silicon on the edges and then its been fine since then. Its like the spoiler was not quite bent enough for the window.
I would cover my entire trunk with a microfiber towel / cloth IF I was going to prep everything from there. However, I’d NEVER prep from there in the first place. Not chancing any scratches, spills, etc! Just me...
no. From the front seats you cannot see the spoiler at all. From the back seats if you look directly upwards towards the glass, you can see the bottom end of the spoiler. All you see is the partial underside with the strip of grey tape. In my case the spoiler is black and i have slightly darker windows so its barely noticeable as one expects to see a black trim where the glass and the roof meet. Looks a little like that. However, if your vehicle is a radical colour, yes the passengers in the back would see it if they specifically looked for it. Its not in the field of view though so i wouldn't worry about it.
Why don't you just use the same tape in the middle as you did the edges??? The middle tape you put on is not going to be your precautional backup. Just saying.
@@ecologicaltime Thank you...I have 3 cars they all have roof wings/spoilers....but my 2013 was applied to the roof and the edges are coming up...my other 2 cars were applied to the glass and have been on solid for over 6yrs
this is more than just tape. It becomes like a glue. If you try peel it off, its like tearing a material. The tape becomes stronger than the plastic, what i mean is when i have tried to tear the items off, the plastic of the item crack and break while the tape tears. Thats how strong the tape is. Please do not use any tape - like double sided no name brand tape from the hardware store. The tape shown is for automotive use and is water and heat resistant.

As soon as he said that I scrolled down and saw this comment 😂
Where’d you get the spoiler? Really like that look without it being too flashy. Cheers on the video, I just got mine today.
Vhb tape is the best for this kind of jobs

As long at you clean surface the product is made to stick to your window as is
Only takes 2 to 5 mins
Yes, it's called 3M primer 94. It comes in a little pen perfect. It is designed exactly to attach things to glass.
Why prep it on top of trunk??
i rest it on a cloth, no scratches.
So will i be able to remove my spoiler since its secured to the roof instead of the glass.....without needing major bodywork?

What kind of shop would install this for me?
Any auto body
Great Install!!! Installed mine the same way. Did you get any squeaks after install? I know mine sqeuaks alot when hitting bumps or speed bumps
no mine is fine, never heard noises from it. If its squeaks when you go over a bump it must be moving slightly. Just check its an even seal.
Solid review bro xx
From where did you Get that spoiler
Where did I get this spoiler from how long is it please
How did it hold up to car washing? Rain? Thx...

@@ecologicaltime I'm doing same type, so I hope it's just as successful... Thx... Pete
How is this tape holding up? I bought similar piece off ebay and worried about the quality of the tape
perfect. no issues. The tape gets stronger over time. It cures in the sun. Depends which tape though.
Throw away the counterfeit tape that comes with it. Get authentic 3M VHb and 3M primer 94..

yes you absolutely right. I work fast and its easier to video in one place
+1

still on like glue
Can you take it through an Automatic car wash with the Brushes?
yes no problem, its very strong, cannot pull it off without tools
Yes. I've gone through high pressure car wash about a thousand times.
My wife is always complaining 😂😂
from where did you buy your spoiler??
ebay
Will it look ugly in the inside?

Alrite then , thx for the information sir. Cuz im planning to put it on my e90 as well so might need some information b4 putting it , well thx tho

If he'd do that the middle would be higher than the edges due to the fact that the edges are deeper than the middle.
Good job mann
Where can I buy this at?
ebay
What's the link for it
Do you secure it to the top of the glass or the edge of the roof?
on the glass. Nothing stuck on the paintwork. It fits snugly into the recess so it looks like its stuck on the body when its only on the glass.

is it safe to have something hanging with just tape. what if you're on the highway and the spoiler came off and hit the car behind you ?
