As this show was mentioned, Kaido probably has a view of life and death like, “Man is complete only after death". Samurai also view death as something honorable. When Kaido killed Oden, he called it a splendid "way to die". It is ironic that Kaido's son, Yamato, who saw the same scene, cried over Oden's “way of life,” which is the exact opposite.
It kind of sucks but Kaido might have been doing the 'son' thing because of what he said a few episodes ago: he wanted Yamato to become the Shogun of Wano eventually, rather than the less and less useful and cooperative Orochi. Shogun is the oldest male heir, and eliminating the Kozuki and Kurozumi clans, as well as the other daimyos from the country would create a vacuum for that position. I couldn't imagine the pain of losing a limb without passing out, and then making it through the cauterization process, and then even standing up, and then even continuing to fight. If it was decided by perseverance alone, the Akazaya nine would have a much better chance to win this fight.
Yamato unfortunately doesn't have advance observation, the only 2 are katakurie and shanks. There is a cinématique when someone with futur sight is using it, this is for yamato basic observation haki.
