Well Dre music was street music that was more on the R&B charts. Which is why Gin & Juice, etc didnt go #1 pop. Whereas Pharrell (and Chad's music) is pop music that was more on the pop charts. Thats why that s7^^ went #1. Huge difference!!!!!!!!
By your standards NWA has no hit singles, yet they sold loads of albums and had a major cultural impact. Gangsta rap wasn't intended to have big radio songs, but eventually that's what happened.
Technically his first “hit” but Doggystyle era Snoop has been bumping on the street, music channels, bars, clubs, movies, weddings, kids bumping it on the playgrounds, mom cleaning the house to it for almost 30 years man. I can’t see Drop it Like It’s Hot starting anything new for Snoop.
This song played at my High School homecoming, the song just dropped. Mind you I went to Crenshaw High, a all Crip school. Everybody was turned, and then the part came on: “I keep a blue flag hanging out my baccside but only on the left side” and then the whole yelled out “ YEAH THATS THE CRIP SIDE”
