It's a strong tablet in 2024, almost an unbreakable tablet thanks to the rugged case.

My son is 7, ever since he has been 5 we have been using Amazon Kids Kindle Fire Tablet, started out with the 8 inch screen and now he is at the 10 inch screen. The 2 year warranty (worry free) has been true to there word, meaning I have had his tablet replaced about 2-3 times due to some issues with the tablet. The only issue I have is space just like you pointed out here, the space storage is very low and I have to keep deleting games to make room, also the parental controls are also great. So overall still an Amazon Kids Kindle fan. Now with all said do you believe this tablet from Walmart is better, also one final thing to point out, I have always purchased his tablets around Thanksgiving due to the Black Friday even Cyber Monday prices, it drops down from $199-$120, even have gotten it as low at $100.

That thing does a lot better than any of the old ones I’ve had because I hate it. It keeps cracking. It seems like within two or three months of getting the device one or two drops later and it’s broken. I’ve had a iPad for three years that is still in good condition after like at least 15+ drops it’s sad.

Honestly i see these tactical fancy rugged tablets for survival military guys, and I'll be honest I think the kids tablets look like they do a better job

I've been using your videos to get a look at cheap tablets for the sake of recognizing whether or not they're worth attempting to target as a min spec - not only is the answer "ohgod no", I actually found out that the Galaxy Tab S7 Lite - sold at one point for $149 and now currently discounted to $99 is actually HALF as powerful as this device, with a lower resolution screen, a smaller screen, and worse build quality overall (and no pretty sparkles on the back).
As a dev I just want to say that targeting anything less than 4GB of RAM is a hard pass for any "real" 3D games, and that this kid's tablet is still only 41.8% as performant as the Nintendo Switch when it comes to GPU capabilities in handheld mode, and a mere 27.2% as performant as a docked Nintendo Switch. The CPU is a bit better, benchmarking at 19.6% faster, but while the CPU was a major bottleneck for the Switch, the GPU is absolutely the bottleneck for the Onn 2024 tablet.
In 2024 targeting devices that are worse than the Switch is a luxury afforded to the types of games that kids probably shouldn't be playing based on their monetization strategies (the kind that make it make sense to pay someone to optimize the heck out of your game so that a child with a $99 or less device can play it) and I just want to reach out and say that based on my research the Samsung A15 5G is still losing to a handheld Switch - it's only 76% as performant. I've chosen a Tab 9 FE (same chipset as the Samsung A35 and Samsung A54 but runs better due to formfactor and can be gotten for about $260 used) to target 60FPS with, assuming that devices worse than this one can at least maintain 30FPS.
Compared to the Nintendo Switch, the Tab 9 FE:
3.76x faster than the switch CPU in single core performance.
97% faster than the switch GPU when the switch is in handheld mode
28.2% faster than the switch GPU when the switch is in docked mode.
Has 6GB of ram (managed by default android) vs 4GB of ram (managed by Switch OS)
If I can run something that 60FPS on this tablet then theoretically that game can run on the Samsung A14 5G and A15 5G because they perform roughly the same, which is 67% as fast as the Tab S9 FE in Single Core and 50% the speed in GPU performance. Those phones are powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 6100 and Exynos 1330 respectively, whereas the FE has an Exynos 1380. I'm fairly certain that what I'm doing isn't going to be too out of the ordinary - targeting the Switch for games always required a complicated porting process due to how weak the hardware was - every port was a headache. If I can't get the game to run at 60FPS on the FE and thus need to target 30FPS on the FE, that's just kind of what happens. Back in 2014 my iPhone 4S would get hot playing Plants VS Zombies 2 but that didn't stop me from playing a game that i was enjoying. I can only hope that people feel the same way if their cheap phone or tablet can't run my game without running in the highest power mode and thus draining battery and heating up. I'd love to be able to target this device, but it's a potato. I'm saying all of this just to put it into perspective how poorly the device performs. I'm making games that are about Switch level, maybe a bit better, and just praying that I can optimize better than Nintendo / porting companies, alongside adding graphics options for cutting corners to enable it to run on devices that it has no business running on.
And all of this just so that I can say that you typed Walmart without the R and I'd hate for this video to reach less people because of it.

You'll most likely have to order the screen protector online. Make sure it's the Onn 2024 screen model size.
