1. Keep a clean healthy scalp
2. Make sure all of your products give you slip (shampoo, conditioner, deep conditioner, leave in, etc)
3. Remove shed hairs with a detangling with a brush.
4. A good hair care regime for older strand sections.
5. Understand your hair (porosity and it’s ph friend)
6. Keep your hair stretched in low manipulation styles with the ends protected.
7. Avoid chemical use
8. Avoid direct heat *not mentioned but the sun is also very harsh on the hair and scalp*
9. Trimming should be at the rate of damage.
10. Take an iron supplement.

Your "tiny little channel" is a powerhouse of knowledge and expertise. ♥️♥️♥️🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Little note on iron: 1. Probably goes without saying, but you can overdo iron. Too much iron is just as bad for your health as too little, so if you're going to supplement it, PLEASE make sure you are getting your levels checked regularly by your doctor to make sure it isn't getting to toxic levels.
2. Iron bisglycinate/ferrous bisglycinate. That's the form of it you should look for in supplements. It's more bio-available and WAY less constipating than other forms.
Tiny little channel is impactful! And trimming every 6-8 weeks never made sense to me. I just cut off all my damaged hair so I’ll get a trim in 3 months. Thank you.
These are the Tips. Watch the Video, Copy and Paste the tip on your Hair Calendar people.🙏
1. Maintain a Healthy Scalp
2. Invest in Products with Slip
3. Detangle Properly (with BRUSH!)
4. Hair Care Regimen
5. Understand Your Hair(Type, Density, Porosity etc)
6. Stretch and Protective Styles
7. Avoid/Less Chemical Use
8. Minimize Direct Heat Use
9. Trim as needed (3-4 Times a Year)
10. Take Iron Supplement
Fops, thanks so much. You are a lifesaver! However, I'll say No (1) and (10) are what I'm majorly guilty of while others I try to do my best.
I have to finger detangle forever. All these brushes, even the one she has in pink, l have in black, just rips out my strands.
@@ColaBling how do you use it? I prepoo with African Pride Prepoo first(finger detangle), then shampoo, deep condition detangle with my brush, steam and wash, add my leave-in, style(comb while styling).
If you can follow this routine, perhaps, it may help
@@ColaBling how do they rip out your strands? Breakage or shed hair?
@@daisiesandpandas1218 The comb bristles are too hard. It takes time to soften the bristles. This means your hair will be the victim of that. Curly Proverbs on UA-cam didnt comb her hair for the first 4 years of her hair journey. Did her hair wonders. I have found that l have a form pattern where my hair strands want to clump together. So finger detangling is best for my hair pattern. Also henna mixed with your favourite conditioner for 3 hours is great . Also listen to Green Beauty in UA-cam too because she is a scientist. 🥰
I can't get enough of these videos.. She actually knows what she's talking about and I wish back in 2016 I would have found her channel because it would have saved me soo much time and money. Make sure to like this video so that more people are aware of these videos who actually need help with their natural hair because, everyone wants a magic product to fix their hair problems when in reality if more people would simply take the time to learn the science and techniques for natural hair, then you could make virtually any moisturizing natural hair product work.. So many products I almost got rid of and wasted until my technique improved and I revisited some of those same products and they are holy grails now for me.. Sometimes we blame our texture and or products for our hair issues when more often than not its our technique thats causing issues not so much the products. I promise once you learn and master your hair it gets soo much easier.. Good luck on your hair journeys.. 😃
Liquid iron is key!!!! I even went as far as checking my iron levels monthly. When taking liquid iron with orange juice my hair flourished.
Omg how did I just find you?! WTH?!! I didn’t even notice how new of a channel this is! By the quality of the videos and content I was assuming you had thousands of subscribers, when I hit subscribe I was shocked to find out you’re so new?! What that means is... this channel is gonna skyrocket ☺️ keep it up and thank you so so SO much for all your help and for being so informative. I’m currently tying to recover my devacurl damage and what looks like protein damage. It’s been a struggle so if you have any tips for this specially, I would love that, and I think many other curlies would too.. ❤️❤️
Aaaaaahhh! This is THE SWEETEST comment. Thank you so so much, I'm so glad you're finding these videos helpful! I'm building a protein series, and I'll definitely be covering recovering from protein damage/overload etc. so stay tuned :). Amen to the skyrocketing - please share the channel with anyone you think might benefit from it 🙏💛💛
Again. I love the fact that you are scientific expert of hair. As an educational leader, I can infuse this content into the curriculum at my school in Broward County, USA. I created a natural hair care program at my school, for esteem building and motivation.
Brilliant what a great idea👏🏾. I would have really appreciated this when I was in school. If you haven’t done so already, check out Green Beauty and Curly Chemist for their scientific knowledge which makes our hair really interesting. Also Glam Fam as he gives wonderful tips and advice while keeping it real !!
That's awesome! I think it's so important to teach young people that we are all beautiful, just the way we are.
I am sooo glad you mentioned supplements!!! Other good supplements for hair growth are zinc, copper (2 mg of copper for every 15-25 mg zinc), selenium, evening primrose oil, and the B vitamins (B12, B6, B9 (folic acid), etc.). You will also want to make sure your thyroid hormones are in the optimal range for hair growth. Un-optimal thyroid hormone levels will cause hair loss and thinning. Our thyroid levels naturally decline as we age, you will need to get a good natural path to get on the medication if your levels are low and you are noticing symptoms. Folic acid is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT for iron, often times people have an iron deficiency because they have a folate deficiency. Up to 60% of the population has the MTHFR gene for a folate deficiency. Taking iron alone will not solve your iron deficiency without folic acid (in the methyl folate version, don't buy any other version). I can't tell you how annoying it is hearing people say they are taking 300 mg of iron and not seeing a difference, or just seeing a difference at that high of a dose. Iron can be toxic in high doses, I don't think doctors should ever prescribe iron w/out folic acid unless they have checked folate levels beforehand. You may not even need to take iron, just folic acid.
I really don’t understand how you don’t have more subscribers. I’ve learned more in two days of binge watching your videos than the two + years I’ve been natural and on UA-cam. You have become my absolute favorite from the true wealth of knowledge. Thank you so much.
Thank you 'cause I am TIRED of seeing people with no hair post, "it's genetics"
Idk how people just finger detangle. Detangling brushes have changed my life 😂
Understanding your hair and taking iron are underrated tips
im glad that sis touched on using silicone cause the natural hair community is against it and silicone actually helps with removing dirt from your scalp to the hair strand.
Well I'm not sure silicone does that,
But it's just like a synthetic oil and even better, costs your hair to slow down water loss and adds SLIP. I loooove silicones!
Why have I only just seen this!! Great advice! Going to start being intentional with my hair growth! 🥳🥳🥳
'One of these tips is just down right controversial' I Subscribed ❣️
This was so informative! In cosmetology school, they actually taught us that hair should be trimmed every 6-8 weeks. I've never followed that rule. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one. I also have never heard of taking iron to help with hair growth. So interesting!
I am beyond grateful that I discovered your channel just a few months ago! Even though my hair is "only" a 2B/2C, I am a bleach blonde who needs to take good care of her hair in order to keep it healthy. Before discovering your channel, I was just trying out products based on recommendations of people with a similar hair type to mine. Now I FINALLY understand the ingredients better and know (almost - still not a pro, haha) exactly what to look for in a hair product. Also, my hair has gotten sooooooo much better, and it is all thanks to you 🥰🥰 From the bottom of my heart, thank you! ♥️
Saw you on Afrikanhairgod Livestream. Had to subscribe.
Please do a *growth* *challenge* 🙋🏾
After becoming such an '"influencer" skeptic' (God knows I've tried the most suggestions 🙄) it's refreshing to find yourself here on Insta & YT. I may be bias but you're *British* (so you know the product struggle is real out here in these U.K streets) ✅ *Black* ✅ *Natural* ✅ and *Qualified* ✅ ...I totally trust you 😂
Hahaahaha! awww girl, I KNOW. Thank you so much for this 😩. I'll let you in on a little secret (that I guess is now public). I am considering doing a mini chop towards to end of the year to kickstart an 8 month long growth challenge to regrow my hair past where it is now (I'll be vlogging the journey so it will keep me accountable). I've put it in the pipelines for the end of the year so I can have enough time to figure out exactly how I would want to approach it. Is there anything in particular you think would make it a worthwhile challenge for you (and other people) to join?
THANK GOD I FOUND YOUR CHANNEL! I've learned so much from you in like 3 days, than I have with other youtubers lmao
Point 4: Hair that is longer than shoulder length is likely more than 18 months old.
Me twho has been trying to grow out my short pixie cut for 2 years and the hair barely reaches my earlobes: crying in a corner.
Have you ever considered trying rice water, onion juice, Aloe Vera, fenugreek spray etc. also try long term protective styling it worked wonders for me (I do natural hair videos)
I wear about 15-17 twists and about 9.5-11 inches all over. I do hanging bantu knots on the ends of hair and it has helped significantly with length retention.
All these years I’ve been struggling and it’s been my iron deficiency anemia?!. I could literally cry because I’ve never heard anyone say anything about taking iron! I’ve been struggling with my hair ever since I had my child 7 years ago 😢. I will definitely start taking my iron and pray this is what’s been missing, I literally do everything else! Thank you!
Yall better get my sis Afope to 1mil subs, cause THIS is the content we’ve been needing to see. Period.
Love these tips❤️❤️❤️❤️! SheRea DelSol mentioned your channel and I’m so happy she did!!! You have awesome content.
YAY finally found a hair growth Chanel that’s based on science and straight to the point😍
Literally you’re a tiny channel is the most informative fucking thing I have ever seen! Bless your heart I wish that you gain so much influence because you are so informative.
I remember trimming all the time and it seemed like my hair wasn’t growing (well that’s cause I was chopping it all of😂) I started trimming based on my hair needs and honestly it makes all the difference. I haven’t tried the iron supplements but that’s definitely worth trying. Thank you♥️♥️
I Subscribed: last year I had to brush out my dreadlocks due to work policy. My hair was wrecked from bleaching so I had to cut it to my jawline... Through your tips and your professional background my hair is now curly again and back at collarbone length :D
I still don’t get how this channel is so underrated😭❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
Oh my goodness. I love the surprise of a black person with an accent. I just can't help but to love it!
Randomly found you and your content is so different to others as it's backed science. Had to subscribe 💛

New to this channel and I look forward for your next videos, you just have this...vibe ? Idk...That instantly puts me in a good mood, keep up the good work ♥
Since Covid19 social distancing I’ve started braiding my own hair (with extensions) and I’ve noticed a great deal of length retention.
The iron piece concerning healthier is new to me. That will be a new focus for me. Tfs❤️
I ain’t barely even started this video yet and I just gotta say… your brows and lashes are BEAUTIFUL!
oooh so glad I found you sis! I know I'm late, but I got here and I'm taking notes

I just love your videos so much! Thank you so much for everything that you do! 😍🙌🏾
Great tips! Refreshing to see scientific-led advice so I'm paying good attention as I'm constantly chopping damaged ends so it must be how I'm styling my hair

Knowledge is power, ty for sharing it🙏
Thank you for this! I love your channel! I really appreciate hair information that comes from someone who really understands and isn’t just trying to sell us products.
I love how you're savage in a nice way😂😂👌👌 definitely following
I historical get IRON INFUSIONs! 🤦🏽♀️. I’m looking 4 the pinned data on iron. Thank u so much for helping understand how this disorder is impacting my hair ❤️
I found your channel yesterday and oh my goodness it's absolutely incredible!!! And with the trimming tip... It actually took me until lockdown to realise that my hair doesn't grow slowly, I had just been conditioned with the idea that I * had * to get a trim every 6-8 weeks 😂 That sent me on a journey of growing out my hair (I had a pixie at the time), transitioning back to my natural colour and texture, etc. So glad your channel popped up in my recommended list :)
your channel is great! and the quality is amazing. definitely should have way more followers! loved this video
Iron! I’m adding that- thanks for a new tip that I’ve actually never heard of before
First tip: dont use fingernails

Getting me some iron supplements ASAP. I know I’m a chronic underachiever iron-wise, so thanks for the smack upside the head👏👏👏👏
New subscriber! Best tips I’ve found yet to grow hair :)
Excellent! Looking forward to watching more of your videos
So glad I found your channel👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Needed this video! Aunty Rona has forced me to leave my natural hair out. Also your editing game is 💯💯💯💯💯 but you already knew that .. NEED the borders to open up so I can order all these tools! In the meantime 🏃🏽♀️🏃🏽♀️🏃🏽♀️ to get some Iron supplements. thanks girl
I love your channel. The knowledge you share is so valuable to me as a new natural.
Thanks for the tips. I am anemic never made the connection to lack of hair growth
New to this channel and I love your content! Finally another high porosity natural! Thank you for your good, relevant, and quality content 😃#newsubscriber
If you go to donate blood, they will check your iron levels to see if you are eligible to donate. They generally have higher than normal standards for iron levels, being that when you donate, you will be losing some blood. A great way to find out what your iron status is, and to help others if you're able!
Thank you Sooo much for the iron tip! I have never heard this before and will be sure to find out what mine is ASAP. Off to watch your video on iron now. Thanks again! ❤️
Really helpful, thank you! Could you please do a video on growing and having healthy edges.
Hey Girl! Thank you so much 🥰 I can certainly put that in the pipelines 💓 I may do an IGTV instead though 🤔
Thank you for this video gorgeous!!
My curly/minimal moisturizer hair has been shoulder length for far too long!
I agree with proper iron intake being important for hair growth but iron can be toxic ☠️ if it isn’t taken carefully. Consult your doctor before taking an iron supplement. Ask for a blood test to check your current iron levels and ask what is a safe/non toxic dosage to take on a regular basis. Love your videos ❤️. Hope I didn’t step on your toes by adding my two cents 🙂
Love love love the content girl! I personally will definitely try and concentrate on my iron intake! Thank you! X
Another great video! I love your content :) thanks for sharing.
I used to be that guy in the yellow shirt lol 😂😂 until I began trying the products with them. The benefits that came from that were and still are the best! ❤
Lately I have had to go through nearly every week, snipping the ends. Thinking about it the area that I am cutting is the part that would have been growing when I was on cancer treatment so that's probably why I am getting so much breakage now. I am anemic so I am on iron.
Thank u for telling us to stop trimming our hair 6-8 weeks gurl ... that was instilled in us by hairdressers ... however back then we were using chemicals n heat at the salon so maybe it made sense somewhat ... but to naturals are hardly ( if at all ) are putting heat in their hair ... why are we trimming so much ???? ... thats why i trimmed mines in Jan and decided not to trim again untillJune . Ill clean up the ends when its time but no more of this constant trimming ... its an addiction imo 😂
Finally someone supporting my going to the hairdresser only 3 times a year ^^
What is your stance on biotin btw?
Yes, a no nonsense informative video, thank you. I had tons of long hair but after a very unfortunate visit to a hairdresser it started breaking off from half way up and, horribly, mostly on one side.
Started re supplementing with iron which I knew about.
Anyway one question do you believe in Olapex?
No 3. Say that louder. DETANGLE. So important.
Hi guys, please let me know if you found this video helpful. Also, are there any tips that have worked for you that I didn't cover in this video? Let's hear them 👇👇👇
Helpful as always! 😍
Adonya W yaaaay! Thanks girl 🙏🏽 Hope you’re well?
@@AfopeAtoyebi Very well, and your cheery disposition is a welcome respite.
So glad to hear this, thank you ☺️
The tips are useful but how do I stretch my natural hair. As it is curly, after washing, it shrinks
