And at the end everything becomes white like in a great Greek tragedy! Cynthia Watros was magnificent, she was the best GL actress ever and she deserved not only the Emmy as best lead actress but also an Oscar award!✨💖🏆
Blake re-grew her backbone. It was a glimpse of the Blake Thorpe of old. Strong, powerful, and a hell of an ability to shrug off the opinion of others. That Blake, the old Blake was a badass. She disappeared when she married Ross.
You know I've seen this clip several times and this is the first I am realizing that Holly (Maureen Garrett) is wearing a different color dress from the parts 13-18 segments. Everyone else are wearing the same thing, exept for her.
I always loved that they did that because the theme of "Guiding Light" was supposed to encompass morality and the whole right vs. wrong aspects of our human consciousness. Light would naturally contrast darkness. In this scene, Annie clearly paid a price for following darkness instead of a path of light and goodness and some may view it as karma (or God). Annie could never give birth to a child of her own after having to have a hysterectomy at Cedar's Hospital. Following a path of rightness, light, and goodness would essentially be following the guiding light, and we are all capable of being good, doing good, or following the light that God put in us all. We must choose a path of lightness as opposed to choosing a path of darkness. Annie did a lot of bad things over that year, and that scene (brilliantly done, by the way) was the culmination of all of those acts. This was probably one of the last utter genius uses of essentially the theme of "the guiding light" used in a storyline on the show. I don't believe that most viewers got that that was why they did that scene that way. There was supposed to always be somewhat of a sense of morality always present in the storylines or among the characters on "Guiding Light."
I'm gonna play devil's advocate. The A-M thing was incredibly stupid (on both parts). Ross wouldn't admit that he loved Blake and basically told her everything was her fault. The "Rick" thing was a culmination of Ross refusing to believe his wife with regards to Amanda. Gee, I would be devistated too if I saw my hubby about to "do" something with his ex...after telling me it was all in my head. As for Ben...Ross could actually lay claim to being wronged. Turn about fair play...Tory!

Even though Annie deserved to be unmasked, I couldn't help but feel sorry for her too.
I rushed home from classes during this time. Had no idea I was watching one of the best storylines in Guiding Light history.
We did too! Used to come on at 3pm. I made my school schedule around it.
I don't know who came up with the ideal of "umbrella storyline " but Guiding Light definitely perfected it
Wow. The quality of this compared to modern-day GH or Days is like night and day. The soaps are indeed dying a painful death.
True
Annie: I can’t go to jail!
Annie should’ve thought about that before lying and framing Reva.
Funny thing happened at the end of the case, Reva went free, Annie was remanded, and Blake grew a backbone!!!

When Sherry Stringfield was Blake, the writers made her a force to be reckoned with! Not sure which writer turned Blake into a pushover.
@@barebackslut600 I thought Sherry was an absolute BORE as Blake. She was much better in primetime as a dry MD
Stringfield is the only Blake I recognize. I wished Blake&Frank made it together
I love the scene of Annie passing out on the floor of the courthouse. Annie was great.
She truly bought drama
Such Iconic soap opera moment
This was the last great gripping soap storyline
There were a few after, maybe 10. But not that many

I was always on Annie’s side! I felt sorry that her happiness was spoiled by Reva coming back from the “dead”.
Wow! Annie!
Blake has always been hypocritical.
And the screen goes white...

something was wrong with her uterus and she had to have a hysterectomy.
She had an infection due to carrying the dead fetus while trying to frame Reva.
