I found your video while doing my research and it has been very helpful. I am going to buy a laser cutter for my business and the freezing issue is interesting. Didn't think about that as someone who lives in a region where winter is fierce and I would have to vent outside. Good to know
Thank you for such a detailed and honest video - I really appreciate all of the time and effort that you put into it! I’m so sorry to hear about your disaster with the laser tube, but I’m thankful that you were able to save your Beamo. You must have been so upset and worried when it happened, though!!!
Thanks for this video love it because of your review I choose to buy beamo over the glowforce. Also i have a quick question how incan set up to engrave first and then cut i can find out how to do it.
Thank you! Glad it was helpful. There are a few different ways to do this but I find it easier to use colors and then match the colors to different settings in Beam Studio. When you do this you can tell the Beamo which layers to do first. I will have more detailed explanation in the next few weeks with a new video I'm currently working on where I will talk about my design process.
I have to laugh because you said you wouldn't recommend using this in an apartment. I'm here to tell ya that A LOT of laser users have them in their apartments.
Hi! When your laser tube exploded as the temperature went down, had you just left your venting hose connected to the outside when it was not in use? I am in Maine and trying to figure out the best way to deal with the declining temperatures next year! Just want to make sure I can still use the laser in winter, but just reconnect and disconnect the venting hose as needed. Thank you - your videos are very helpful!
Thank you, glad to hear they're helpful! Like I said in the video it was connected via that ventilation dryer cover with insulation cap and the hose to the outside. I listed three different options at the 16:26 but personally the last few months I've been disconnecting everything and moving it away from the window in the house to keep it warm since even having it next to a window makes the metal feel cold.
great video, super informative! can you give insight on how much noise the laser cutter makes? i have been looking everywhere but people keep putting music over it.
Thank you! Yes, I was hesitant to put the full sound in as it is really loud, the sound at: 12:42 is an accurate sound (with no editing) for both vents running (but not the laser). I'll show the full sound while cutting in my next laser cut video so I can send people a reference as I've had a few people ask this question. But I typically say it's slightly less noisy than the sound of a running vacuum. I can still listen to TV or music while I'm cutting, but I have to have it cranked up higher than normal. I cannot hear the sound out of my laptop speakers over it though.
Get an "in line" fan and hook it up to your venting tube: www.amazon.com/dp/B07JB292JC/?coliid=I284HOC4NI88K7&colid=1JWU4224T8ZTB&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it It should really help with the venting problems you were having. I wonder if you could line the opening with a thin rubber seal or flap to keep the smoke from coming up. Some of the other laser cutters I have seen have a little rubber "lip" on the window lid that helps with that. Your video was great and your eye color is wonderful, thank you !
I've never tried to use anything else because the Beamo Studio works so well. I design in Illustrator because there's more options available to design with and then I can just import the SVG. It does do grayscale on wood, I would assume also on paper. I've only cut and engraved on watercolor paper but haven't experimented with gradients myself.
How is this for engraving dowels? If I make a jig and then line them up, would the camera be accurate? If you have time to answer, thanks so much. Ready to buy one of these ASAP!
It definitely could, although if you wanted accuracy on perspective you may want to get the router attachment. Because it's not a flat object if the design stretches past the curves it will not be focused correctly and you may get warping. I have not tried the router attachment since I create mostly with wood panels, but I've seen others say that it works okay.
Here's the link on Amazon: amzn.to/3vGNCcu BUT! I don't buy from Amazon as it's usually overpriced. I buy from ZwoodnLaser on Etsy: www.etsy.com/shop/Zwoodnlaser
Thank you for subscribing! I purchased my Beamo through Project 3D Printers (They have gone up on their pricing since I purchased which is why I didn't link them, they aren't the cheapest option anymore- however I did get a fast delivery, with shipping updates, and no other issues with my order through them.) : project3dprinters.com/products/beamo-desktop-laser-cutter-engraver#:~:text=beamo%20is%20a%20small%20desktop,having%20fun%20making%20amazing%20things.

I just picked up my 40w beamo. I'm so excited to start making items.

In terms of keeping it above zero, would perhaps a lizard heating pad work thats used for reptile tanks.
Great review thank you for doing this!

@@ArtistExplores okay, thank you for that :) i'll make sure to tune in to your next video!
Its about as loud if not less loud than a vaccume cleaner

Can you use GRBL or Lightburn? Or does it only use it's own software? Also can it do grayscale shading on paper or wood?

3/8" diameter, similar to the dowel rods behind you in the video!
