- Turn on annotations to see the commentary. Japan Airlines flagship 777-300ERs have one of the most unique first class seats, taking cues from Japanese culture. It unfolds into a huge and comfortable bed, which I honestly did not want to leave. The Japanese menu was delicious with big chunks of abalone, tuna steak, and Waygu beef. The pudding was the smoothest pudding I ever had. Apparently it is sold only at one restaurant and costs 10USD per glass! I later found out it is actually a 3 star Michellin restaurant called Nihonryori RyuGin. I was told by the flight attendant that they are consider a 4 star airline but there is no way they are in the same category as Jetblue or Air Canada. The attentiveness and courtesy of the crew was just as good as Singapore.
The bow & wave. Seriously. That devoted. I don't know why it brings me tears, well almost. I did not know that before.

An excellent video of what the vast majority of us will never get the chance to sample in our lives. I would love to fly on a Japanese carrier...whether its ANA or Japan Airlines...It doesn't matter I would be so over the moon with delight and excitement.

+19bootsy68 went to Japan a few times with ANA, and eventhough I sat in economy, their service was unbeatable (SQ may be good, but ANA's better)
+Ricky Andrey I wouldn't dream of flying any other airline...it would have to be ANA or JAL. I would want the full Japanese experience..

Now this is flying, sleeping and eating with STYLE! ! The amenity kit alone is better than most airlines I've seen. JAL does know how to treat their passengers. Hope I get to fly their 1st / biz class soon.

lewis 77 Me too lol, I was so looking forward to this flight because I think they have one of the most unique offerings in terms of food and seats.
When i was a little girl in the 70's i used to have a pencil sharpener with a JAL logo on one side and Air France on the other side....My Dad got it during a journey in Eastern Asia.

Unfortunately I never flew aboard JL when I worked for TW. We had excellent staff discounts. Everyone always raved about JL's service. I am too old to afford F-class nowadays. Too bad, 'cause I love the super-expensive Salon vintage champaign.
miles is always a way. 50,000 for first class to sydney from tokyo, 60K for business class to tokyo from US. Don't give up!

Great video, out of the blue, but you went from Singapore to Jarkata via Tokyo? Clearly it's enjoyment in first class, but isn't that a really short journey stretched so much longer?

+ricjackal Yeah I agree not every flight gets the wave good bye. If you are facing the terminal you might be able to see it, especially if you are sitting closer to the front.
How much food do they serve?
JAL food is excellent. Customer Service is great too.

I haven't had Ryugin Roppongi Pudding, so I don't know what it really tastes like,but there are recipes online for a Japanese caramel pudding called Purin.Might be close to what you had.

+Konrad Baumgart To be honest, Emirates isn't that much better. Turkish and Cathay I think have the best and most consistent food, but you'll never hear anything good about anything else other than the Middle East 3 from a Muslim person.

looking at all the flight reports, I found all ways better seafood dishes in bussiness and first class, flights going from Singapore to Japan and Japan to Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand
