A Tragic end to the Meter Gauge (NER MG) Locomotives : Indian Railways
Вставка

- Meter Gauge (MG) Lines are rapidly disappearing in many parts of India making way for Broad Gauge and Electrification. There are hardly a handful of small MG branch lines that are spared by the Indian Railways which are on the verge of closure.
One such line that is on the verge of closure is the Truncated Pilibhit - Mailani 68 KM MG line breathing its last days. This line once functioned from Moradabad - Bareilly - Izzatnagar - Pilibhit -Mailani-Sitapur and Lucknow Aishbagh.
We were shocked to spot a fleet of 13 Izzatnagar (IZN) YDM4 Locomotives stabled at a remote Station Mala near Pilibhit. The station is located on the Pilibhit - Mailani MG line. From the Local authorities we learnt that these Locomotives will be scrapped once the line gets closed. We were shattered to see these MG beasts that once ruled this Section like warriors in a sorry helpless state.
Train : Pilibhit - Mailani and Mailani - Pilibhit Passenger Trains.
Locomotive : YDM4 Izzatnagar Diesel Shed.
Location : Mala Railway Station, Uttar Pradesh (UP State). North Eastern Railways.

Their loco sound will always remain in our hearts🥰
Yes Sumit. I too will remember their sounds.
Excellent video! One always feels bad about the end of a train, plane or ship. Lot of soul put into this video. Have tears in my eyes! So much passion put into this video! That to without any narration! Just awesome!
bas yaade reh jayengi in trains k saath, bachpan me inhi trains se travel kiya krte the, but everything changes with time..
In the next 5 to 10 years, The train coaches which we have at present will be very hard to find, as Several Indian trains are going to be replaced by 'train 18' and 'train 20'.
Even though these new trains will be much better, I will be missing the present blue trains 😢
Change is sometimes difficult but you get yourself a new car and move on...
What becomes obsolete is often wrapped in memories...
Great video...shukria...
This video brings back sweet-sad memories! Southern Railway had a beautiful ~ 750 km long metre gauge section. The first 150 km of the route till Villupuram was electrified, and the lovely Hitachi-Mitsubishi-Toshiba YAM1 electric locos which I think were unique to the Chennai Egmore -south MG route, hauled the trains at a brisk pace till there. From Villupuram the YDM 4 diesel locos took over!
Then came the iconic Vaigai Express during late seventies. What a train it was! Beautiful yellow-green livery, including the YDM 4 loco. It was given a diesel loco from start to finish, to avoid loco switching at Villupuram. Top speed 105 kmph! Did a round trip from Madurai to Chennai and back on the same day, covering some 900 km. The thrill of travelling by that train is unmatched to this day! I don't get so much pleasure even while travelling by the Vandebharat express now!
It's like Yamaha RX 100 for every Indian heart...
A sad sight it was, btw great to see such jam packed MG trains and boy that 2nd YDM-4 was a crazyy smoker !
I still missing the MG section of GD-GKP these trains were the lifeline of those areas... The hardcore chugging of YDM LOCO was the best
They are totally helpless.they are saying somebody come and start me I want to run more,,,😢😢😢😢😢
Best comment
So emotional..
Please don't scrap better to send to Myanmar country
Feeling so sad and emotional after seeing these ydm4 in such condition, jo kabhi hamare bachpan me humko safar karaaya karte the socha nahi tha ki ekdin unka safar iss haal me poora hoga
so sad I feel cry when I look this video I like mg because I miss my childhood travelling through this trains I can forgot we will not forgot you meter guage😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
*Old India is rapidly disappearing. :(*
Every badly will be missed this little Stars 😘😇
vishnu dattajacke
Bahut dukhi ho rha YDM4 ko iss tarah dekh ke jaise yeh Hume pukar rhe he, jo bolo YDM4 ki chugging Sound kafi jabardast hoti he hum ise kabhi nhi bhulenge ☺️☺️☺️😍😍💖💖
Nice one.....n all tribute to sir alexzendar izzat...for such an iconic railway for 130 years👏👏👏
Reminds me of my childhood days...
I agree with you . All I am saying is please look at all other electrified railway line poles all around in INDIA and everywhere in the whole world. THE POLES HAVE TO BE MADE OF STEEL COATED WITH ZINC FOR PROTECTION FROM ENVIRONMENT TO MAKE THEM LAST LONG. LOOK AT THE TRAFFIC LIGHT POLES IN YOUR CITY
Nice capture sir
Are there any museums planning on saving these
Very sad after seeing these meter gauge engines in this condition. It must be kept in the well established area for their services in the Indian railways.....
Overall your video is excellent.
MG diesel was my childhood sweet heart, the it horned felt even great, will miss them, everything s got to go oneday.........
Fortunately, these are not completely vanished yet. It is in use in our Bangladesh Railways fleet as class 2800, working from 1996 onward. Though, within some time, these will be vanished from our fleet too.
India is giving 10 YDM4 to Bangladesh which is required to run in stop gap period. Bangladesh Railway has orders of 100 MG locomotives (EMD GT38) from Rotem, S. Korea which will start to come from 2020. Imported in 3 lots (10 + 70 + 20) . Some will come in CKD and will be assembled in CLW, Parbatipur. To fill up the crisis for these two years India is giving 10 BG and 10 MG locos. Bangladesh has also 40 BG Locomotives (EMD, GT42) from Progress Rail, Munchie, USA.
Great capture bro
It's not a engine it's a emotion , government should have to run at least 1 meter gauge in every state or Repair them and handover to the countries like Nepal Bangladesh srilanka to Indian Border train line ,
In Jayanagar Bihar Nepal a BBC documentary Nepal railway use it since 2013 .
Sad to see in ideal condition is there any possible export to any other country to run in meter gauge line
Can they not be deployed somewhere in the other parts country where still MG lines are functioning ?
There are hardly a few MG lines left and there is not much of a requirement now.
I have traveled by these trains from Aishbagh (lucknow) to Pilibhit
I met a person who was steam engine driver on manmad kacheguda rail line. He used to maintain his steam engines. Later he was ordered to salvage the same locos. Same line was operated on mg disel. Those were salvaged too. Now that line is BG!
will they send to other country????
sirf yaad Bankar rah
Gaye chhoti line
Sad :( good video though.. as usual
वे लोग जिन्होंने अपनी मंजिल तय कि होगी
रेलगाड़ी इंजिन डिब्बे यात्री कि स्मृति में रहेंगे
रेल विभाग को भी इन स्मृति को संजो के रखना चाहिए
They had replaced the steam beasts.. now its their turn.. ☹️
Sirens of YDMs are much more musical than any of the latest broad gauge locos, either electric or diesel.
Little star...Hard worker
What will they do with the locomotives ?
what a footage bro
Sad they will be gone but we need to ensure that we preserve them in a museum
Awesome catch
This is so sad what they will do with locomotives
Ujjain to fatehabad section metre gauge is also closed
They are now making broadguage their
70% work is completed
Can we purchase those Locomotives?
where the place
Sad! India could have gifted these working locos to Nepal for Janakpur line. #pmoindia
Nepal Janakpur line is 762 mm. And these Locos can run only in 1000 mm gauge.
Old kings are helpless
I shall love to once see the video of 1 up/ 2 Dn Awadh Tirhut mail with steam loco. I travelled in this mail between LJN to GKP many a times with YP of the GKP shed.
Wooooow😍😍😍
Why these locos abundant ed? Can't they run using broad gauge bogies ? I think India can easily do it
Sad, They Will Always Be Missed
why sad..? We have WDG5 Now
Praveen Mishra hvvg
How can you compare these cuties with that crap
Praveen Mishra bro can u send ur profile to my mail
Sad :(
Meter gauge is going out of style around the world, sadly. The Chinese are building a new standard gauge railway system in East Africa, and are wanting to build a new standard gauge railway system in South East Asia (and the Kunming-Laos/Thailand border railway is already underway). I guess that leaves South America as the last bastion of meter gauge railways.
Such is progress I suppose......
These locomotives should be converted into broad gauge locomotives although I know it's impossible.
This may be possible by Replacing its Wheels by Broad Gauge wheels and Bogies. But these Locos are Very Less Powered in today's Broad Gauge Standard requirements.
Once they were kings. Now they are expecting death😢😢😢😢
1:51 whats that sound?
Mr Rail Zone I am a Train Lover since 10 54 come across all types of locos Bogies Engines Goos wagons Cranes Track Machines Trollies and some other types Almost Narrow Guages Metre Guages along with. Other relative belongings of COAL DIESEL VANISHED And there comes the Electric ERA SO Don't pinpoints Engines only Better you read this one ALL GOOD THINGS MUST COME TO AN END TODAY OR TOMORROW SO ALSO ALL BAD THINGS OLD VANISHES NEW EMERGES AND THAT IS THE WORLD
Recently I seen just news in 12 hours four broad guage train derails
Having tears in my eyes ❤❤🙏🙏
Indian railways could have kept these engines for future generations to come and might be of immense help had they been stationed at important rail heads
They are over aged and almost nearing their codal life. Some may be plinthed at some historic stations but involves a lot of cost to move them.
Sweet memories
Awesome !!
Apparently Indian railways is leaving some MG and NG lines for heritage purposes, these include not only the ooty railway, but also some lines in central India, so MG and BG won’t be extinct in India
Please put a railway comparison between India and japan 2018
superb
Heart breaking video..
metre gauge engines are now used for broad gauge demu
Lot of scope for exports, isolated towns,or convert to BG rolling stocks.
bhai ab bachi hu meter gauge ke bare mai bataoo plzz bro ek video bahraich - Mailani par bano na plzz bro
U ( MG locomotives) were the meaning of chook chook gaadi for me. 😌
I've an doubt nowadays the modern locomotives horns are not like this.
Comparing to previous horn.
Ear this MG locomotives horn.
Like WAP 4. and WAP 7 horn is different...
Well, if you want to see a meter gauge train in India, there is always Delhi Metro. Although it's metro, but technically it's a train.
How can you know that it will on that station 👌👌👍👍😯😯
Railway Officials.
I missed this metre gauge train..
They r Indian Heritage how can they scrap them away ?
The Indian Govermant can Scrap anyone...
I think what the railways should do is, rather than scraping these cute locos, they should put on the axels of the BG locos and run them in low passanger density routes....😁😁😁😁
navin babji
wds6 is what you asked for. bg bogies with ydm4 power train. search for wds6 and you can enjoy the same loco trash.
oracle11iappsdba no no no, what i meant was, the body and powertrain should remain the same, just put on the BG axels on them, just like in a monster truck, the body of the pickup is the same but the wheels are wider and bigger....😬😬😬
*are
Vintage train! Very sad!
so nice video
Even those that was leased to Malaysia was not taken back............
I was in lucknow pilbit mg to bg conversion project
I have traveled in this
Good train
If indian railways really does not want to keep meter gauge then give these locomotives and coaches to poor countries like Bangladesh.
Retirement from service, with out any farewell.
MG trains and locomotives are our emotion.
You made us cry by this video.yet thanks for showing us last MG train of section.
Splendid coverage bro
In the 80's & early 90's the fastest (super-fast & mail) MG trains were pulled by the YDMs.... The Vaigai & Pallavan express trains of the 80's were green & gold liveried, 9-10 coach MG super-fasts, pulled by a similar liveried Golden Rock YDM4, that covered the 480 km between Chennai-Egmore & Thiruchi / Madurai in the SAME time that a BG version (pulled by a WAP7 / WDP4D) takes today.... That's actually quite amazing. The train would maintain 100-105 kph for long stretches of what was then a single-MG single, unelectrified line past Chengalpet.. In the North-West, the Ashram Express (Ahmedabad-Delhi), the Suryanagari Express (Ahmedabad-Jodhpur), and the Pink City Express (Delhi-Jaipur) were similar colorful & fast trains.... The Ashram (17 coaches, Twin YDM's) had 2-3 stops along an entire 15 hour journey of 950km.
Amazing Coverage Sir. Feels bad for MG trains.
The Rail Station I am from Pilibhit/Puranpur yeah the end of era 😐
These wonderful Locos with distinctive start up and running sound brought smile into everyone. I have thoroughly enjoyed these YDM locos esp. in their super fast speed of 110 kmph. in TN's Vaigai express. Now the memory is in Ooty Coonoor line where YDM 4 will live for long. Change to broad gauge is inevitable as goods can be transported w/o break and people can travel all over India in one train. Thanks for this nice video.
Thrilling history of Vaigai Express MG is unforgetable.........
Oh damm you made me cry....
Simplistic, memorable yet captivating.
Extremely well done !!!
Has this route been converted to BG as yet ?
The Kings of MG will always have a place in our memory banks .
Thank you for your excellent coverage.
Nepal border is not very far from Mailali jn mentioned in this video. We, from Nepal , also used to travel to Lucknow in these lovely trains. Palia Kalan -Mailani-Lucknow route is still being upgraded to BG. Missing my childhood memories.
Sad to see this !!
must say your channel always features rarest of the rare IR moments on the UA-cam !!
In Bangladesh, there is a common track for both Metre gauge and broad gauge trains. Why was the track not built like that before?
It needs a lot of money. And Indian Railways will run Broad Gauge in future. Because Broad Gauge can carry Trucks, Buses and Army Tanks on its Flat Bed wagons. Also Broad Gauge is faster and supports higher Axle Load.
These locomotives can be sold to those countries where MG rail network is available
Yes, many YDM-4 have been sold to Myanmar, Vietnam, Malaysia, Tanzania, Mali, Sudan. Too Old Locos will probably be Scrapped.
Metre guage is best system comprising with broad guage because in Japan most of the bullet train s are metre gauge as well as narrow gauge
Uday Kiran totally wrong.
@@kanakasabhainatarajan7192standard gauge 4ft.8 1/2 inches..
And just for the record, I actually drove these ydm's on to turn tables to turn them around when I was a kid. Awesome feeling - driving a locomotive .
Really Mark? Most probably you must had driven the engines outside India. Where are you from, by the way. You have been extremely fortunate. So, happy memories 😊😊. But I feel sorry for these engines that they have been removed nearly totally 😣😣.
Feels crazy by seeing locomotives in single line, but feels bad too they are going for scrap😢
Some of the coaches have 77*** as their number - does it mean these were made 40 years ago??? Nevertheless - an awesome video, brings back memory of my childhood days where I used to chase through countryside to get a glimse of these locos.... Loved their chugging. Sigh.... Well everything old has to move on and give way for the new. Will they be getting these into a museum of some sorts - that would be wonderful.
Yes the MG Coach Production stopped some where around 1992 post that the old coaches have been over hauled periodically.
Sir When Will U Post The Continuation Of This Video On Ur Channel As I Am Waiting To Se It's Next Part...Neverthless It Was A Very Emotional Video For All Railoholics😢😢😭😭
We miss Miss you Meter Guage 😘😘😢😢😭
It is my understanding, all Indian sub-continent countries have Broad-Gauge tracks of different width measurements.
There shud'nt evn be complaints or sadness from the loss, to begin with. For it is the way forward from antiquated Meter-Gauge. A wise choice, if U asked me (fig).
