Peep and X actually weren’t really close, this song was pretty controversial when it first came out. But I personally love the song!

@@elmocsgovideos48 one of peeps closest friends Fish-narc came out when the song was released and said that Peep never liked X because of the allegations of him beating a woman, he also stated that peep wasted own his time and money getting X removed from his Spotify playlists. And would have never approved of the song if he was alive to hear it.

Fun Fact: Peep and X knew of each other but never met in person. They never really got along while peep was alive, but after peep passed according to “Fat Nick” a friend of both. He told X, Peep was talking about him in a positive and that he wanted to meet up and I guess the meet up was actually gonna happen but peep died before it could. X heard a snippet of sunlight on your skin and asked ILoveMakonnen if he could be involved and well the rest is history :).
finally someone who knows the true story. it’s true peep wasn’t fond of X at first, especially because their friend groups had some drama. but towards the time peep passed, he had no problems with X. i don’t know why people ignore peeps friend (fat nick) saying this.
I think it had something to do with peep and Ski getting into it so X never wanted to go behind Ski back so that’s why he didn’t fuck with Peep they didn’t necessarily hate each other.

When he said “sunlight on your skin when I’m not around” I’ve always took it as if he’s calling himself a burden as if he’s holding her back. But now that they aren’t together she can finally get out and get some sunlight on her skin 🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️
They ndver made this song together, X recorded his verse after Peep passed and after X passed they put it togefher and released it in honor of both.

there was a fallout with ski mask accused someone in peeps group to steal from him and then X was loyal to ski. there is an small clip/interview where X talks about this and his regrets (if im not totally wrong).
Thats why there was drama when this song got released cause they thought it was fake to put them together since they didnt know each other. it looked like a profit move from the label company.
The Original song was with ILOVEMAKONNEN. Peeps mom wasnt happy about what they did. i think i saw an insta post about it. Its a great song from two good artists tho. rest easy both of u

I think the rain falling is akin to the relationship and life passing, whether it be sad or uplifting, and that sunlight is the significant other living their life in the artists absence, not just that they are happy without them but that they kind of continue their life without them, and seeing that can be sore if you are unable to simply continue with your own life after a rough relationship or when left alone.

Could a give you a suggestion for a song? Maybe that's a Patreon/member perk but I think you'd enjoy it.
It's "On GP" by Death Grips. There's another channel that covered it but I was a bit disappointed he talked more about the band in general and their philosophy rather than the music and its lyrics.
I'd also suggest reading the youtube comments on uploads of that song as to see the effect that it's had on people and how powerful it is.
I hate that so many of these lyric videos have some of the important words wrong :( but love your reactions and the message you spread

This song is good, but only if you remove any and every piece of context. If memory serves me correctly, after this was released by Peep and X's estates, there was a backlash as Peep was the furthest away from a fan of X, and I remember there being either an interview or an ig live from a GBC (goth boy clique) member who said that Peep actually lost out on money to get himself off of playlists where X was also on there on platforms like Spotify.
If you want to hear this song as intended, the original track is Sunlight On Your Skin and features ILoveMakonnen (with whom there is an unreleased album)!
peep actually had no problem with X towards the time of him passing. they had a mutual friend and were planning on meeting up, but then peep passed. peep was over the shit with X by the time he died, and peeps own friend (fat nick) has said this.
Yeah, I distinctly remember some of Peep's friends, or his mom maybe, stating that Peep didn't want to associate with X in any way. Even though Peep's documentary doesn't comment on this, it serves to prove that Peep had a completely different worldview that X had, told by his controversial past.

they didn’t like each other, this song was originally made with ilovemakonnen, x didn’t fuck with peep cause someone in gbc stole ski’s stuff at peeps crib x and ski was close asf so that made x not fuck with peep, peep didn’t like x cause of how he was arrested over abuse of a woman but right before peep died he was asking fatnick about x and how he wanted to meet with him and possibly make music together x contacted makonnen after peep’s death and asking about hopping on a Lil Peep song and then this happened sum fans loved it sum fans hated it and Lil Tracy was upset how they we releasing a song with them two and not him and peep, basically calling this song a money grab fatnick was happy this happened most gbc members didnt like the idea but imo at the end of the day we’re all gonna die nun of that shit matter’s its not that deep i’m just here to enjoy the music as we all should rip Lil Peep and XXTentation
