I got LS400 calipers for my SC300 last year at Autozone for under $300 after core refunds. They were already rebuilt and ready for paint. Saves a little time on a rebuild and cleanup. Best investment you can make for a SC/Soarer
Did you have to get spacers
@@alphadog6114 nope. But I ran Supra wheels so maybe you would need to upgrade wheels if you’re on stocks
Finally an in depth video on the LS400 BBK!!! I saw your post on one of the Is300 FB groups. This will help me out a ton. Thanks Freddy!
Right?! There is a ton of info on this upgrade all over the internet, but it's all scattered and not in one place, so i felt the need to make a one stop shop for all the info :)
This is one of the best videos you have put out in a long time, getting fired was the best thing to happen to your UA-cam channel since you got the Supra.
Hahahaha! Thanks!
Great tutorial video! Got my LS400 at a you pull you save for $40. Sanded them down and sprayed it the burnt copper color. Now I hope to get the things I needed to install them this year.
Yessssssss
Hi I’ve seen a lot of stuff about the ls400 calipers upgrade but very little on the stopping difference compared to the stock brakes. Can anyone shed some light on the difference in stopping power ? Great video Freddy was very detailed and easy follow 👍🏼
Very self explanatory, 1 piston versus 2 pistons, faster stopping, used for more power cars or canyon racing cars
No brake upgrade will drastically change stopping distance. The upgrade only decreases brake fade helps pedal feel stiffer, it just helps them not get hot as fast. Tires and suspension will decrease stopping distance more than a brake upgrade, but together they are like pb&j...
The calipers are Sumitomos. Not Brembos, but that's ok. Moe stopping power is always nice to have.
Thanks!
Japanese quality is king 👍🏻
@@PoorManMods hey man, I have an MA70. Do you think the 4 piston calipers can be installed on my car?
a much better affordable option. i might consider this in the future
dude love your videos keep the is300 content coming
Thanks!
That idea of using the filter behind was really cool. I'll use that. Great video btw
Thanks!
Lots of good, specific information. Love it!
Wow!!! great job, many smart ideas that i never thought it could be done in a basement, keep it up, greetings from Colombia.
thank you!
You should have done all the seals & etc before powder coating the caliper wouldn’t that be easier so you wouldn’t mess up the paint with brake fluid?
Same applies to 2gs/Aristo platform. Thanks for another helpfully vid!
Thanks for watching!
... What calipers would you recommend for the likes of Toyota zze123 Corolla?. Running stock t sport discs/rotors, or a little bigger, under 16" wheels?. ( I actually have some Rx7fd calipers, but would need to use bridge spacers a few mm). And a single Porsche Boxster rear monoblock,I picked up cheap). It would be nice to use monoblock sumomoto, from a lexus ls430 etc. But I fear could be a little big!.
We need more men like you poor man thank you
Haha thank you
Is true the rear set with just bolt on?
Just picked up my OE calipers from a 98 for 60 bucks for both. I going to try to use an angle kit to work as my RCA's, that way I get two in one lol. I've heard the angle kit is just thick enough
I’ve seen a few Ls400 at Pick n Pull with the front brakes are still there, I could get them for less than 150 for both
I got my pair for $40 at my local yard
Do you need to get alignment? Did you get an alignment? Also, when you bleed the brakes, did you just only bleed the fronts? Rear?
The link for the RCA’s is broken. What size did you use here?
Soooo....just found my new fav channel
Hell yeah thank youuu
Thanks for this upload. Got mine at junkyard $40 a piece. Love the shirt
Thanks!
Isn't there a way to separate them to make the rebuild alil easier?
Great video, what is the cost for the rank one caliper adapters?
Your self control with break clean is impressive, you must save thousands
Lol thanks
im fucking dead.
Keep up the good work! You're page is marvelous for DIY stuff!!
thank youuu!
Just scored on a pair for $50 ordered brand new hardware to fit when I clean them up
I had no idea powdering equipment was so cheap. The first system that popped up on Ebay is 90 dollars. I really want to do my wheels.
I wouldnt get an ebay. Get the eastwood kit for a few more dollars, its worth the insurance
great to see these types of videos again.
the MK3 Video is legendary informative and excellent all around.
do MK4 next if you got friends doing poorman bbk.
ps, I hit like before I even watched.
thats a cool bleeder tool. first time seeing something like that. #interesting
thank you! there is a link in the description to the bleeder tool you should invest in one.
Does the same rule apply for the adapter bracket with SC300s?
*So can I have you rebuild, sandblast, and powder coat my calipers?*
Maybe, shoot me an email
poormanmods@gmail.com
I just want to know what big brakes I can put on the rear
im not sure, but honestly i really dont think its necessary
Could you do a rear brake upgrade?
Can it work on the is200?
When you put the spacers on did it affect your turning radius? For some reason my driver side wheel is rubbing against the back of my wheel well preventing me from getting a complete turn.
the spacers lower the car about an inch, thats probably why youre rubbing
@@PoorManMods that’s not the issue I’m speaking of. My wheel is touching the back of the wheel well. It’s preventing me from getting my full turning radius.
@@socritty dang I have no idea what's causing that
We want more! we want more! Dope video homie thanks.
Thanks! what do you want more of?
did u put wheel spacers on the rear too? planning on doing this swap when i replace all my struts and i wanna make sure my suspension is still square
lol no i actually just spaced the front but wheel spacers dont affect alignment
What size rca did you use ? 17mm or 30mm ?
Do the ls400 spindles fit the is300? I know they look they exact same.
I'm not sure
So if the RCAs drop the front an inch...what about the rear?
Yo Ik people use 17mm rcas when they do this I’m looking to shorten my spindles in the future and wanted to go with the 30mm rca setup with shortened spindles do u think I’d run into much of an issue running the stock spindles and 30mm rca for the time being?
awesome work Freddy; sure to make quite the difference
Thank you they feel great!
Any master cylinder upgrades needed to keep decent pedal feel?
nope!
I have a dumb question do you have to use ls400 rotors??
Yes
Hey man. Love all your videos. Keep it up! By the way. I'm in the process of doing this brake upgrade. But as of now I only need my wheel spacers. Do you think u can send me a link to some safe wheel spacers. Or the ones u purchased
Really awesome video! Did you use the anti squeal shims?
Hi. Where can i get all that adapter kit?
I’ve got 17x9 rota fighters ,think offset is Et35... reckon they’ll clear the callipers?
I truly have no idea, im not good with wheel specs lol, sorry.
Great video mate!
Thank you!
How much did u pay for the threaded calipers adapters?
Hey man I have a question. So I installed mine and my brakes squeal a lot and I have no idea why. What should I do to check or make sure nothing is bad. Everything was pretty much installed correctly and the car drives and breaks fine only problem is the insane amount of brake squeal
Performance pads squeal
I have been having the same issue, no matter what pad I try. Let me know you resolved your issue. Been dealing with squeal for 2 years now and it gets embarrassing haha
great video man, thanks for sharing
never wipe brake fluid. just wash the affected area with cold water.
What size offset wheels do I need for it to clear these brakes
I run OEM wheels with a 10mm spacer
Hey man just a tip, turn your air pressure on the powder coat gun WAAAAY down. It is dumping so much powder that is all being wasted. You want like a fog effect
Ill try thanks!
Awesome video everything I need to know right here
The caliper iron or aluminum?
Aluminum
Can you use any year LS400 caliper?
I'm not sureee
anyone know where to get RCA kits besides ebay now?
What size of rca did you use? The website has a choice of 17mm & 30mm. Do you know what the size different affects?
30mm
I just realized I didn't lube my pistons+ o-rings after rebuild.. this going to be a problem?
I honestly dont know
Do I have to use the rotors from the la 400 also?
Yes. LS400
@@japandrz what year rotors? I’m using 95 ls400 but it’s rubbing the caliper and the holes not lining up to bolt the caliper in. Do you have any tips? Thanks
Did the same conversion to my soarer. But it’s a direct bolt on
Niceeeee
How can I convert from premium to e85
Great video keep it coming 😁
All that good stuff berry helpful 🤙🏻
Nice T-shirt brother
Are the RCAs is300 or Ls400 ?
is300
great job friend im doing it for sure !!!!
Cool men! Looks great.
What about the back? Or does it not really matter
Doesn't really matter
Great content!! Thank you for posting!!
Thanks!
Those turned out great.
Thanks!
I bought the LS400 fronts to replace my J-Spec Supra MKIV ones. Love em.
Yup!
What are the benefits over mkiv calipers?
@@mr.cangieter8758 MKIV NA brakes are a 2 piston slider design (2 pistons on one side of the disc) and don't have great clamping force for turbo cars. Mine was originally NA, now a 500bhp 1JZ-GTE and needed to upgrade the brakes.
MKIV TT brakes are a 4 piston design (2 pistons on each side of the brake disc) and have great clamping force for turbo cars.
The LS400 calipers are also 4 piston (2 pistons per side of brake disc) and have just as good of a braking clamp force for a lot less money than a set of TT calipers.
@@DynamicEvolved AutoZone has Supra mkiv turbo calipers pretty cheap. Never looked into the lS400 calipers. Thanks.
Will this method work on my gs300 tho?
I dont know
Thanks for clear video. But Unnecessary replacing reliable Toyota rubber hose and piston. Also lubricating bolts in brake parts are not well thought. you putt thread lock instead
dude great great great great fucking video. From beginning to end. Can i do this to a 2001 lexus gs300?
Thank you! I'm not sure
Just got my set from a 00 LS400 for my GS300 for $42 the pair! Question, does the GS need thread adapters?anyone know?
Hey , did you install them? and if yes , Did you need the thread adapters ?
@@Dr_Boost www.clublexus.com/forums/suspension-and-brakes/428482-installing-ls400-calipers-on-my-gs300-4.html
I still haven't installed them due to no time. This is the last thread that I was reading and it looks like you might just be a straight bolt on and just install RCA's
And of course ls400 rotors and pads
Louie Tabullo i am afraid to get the rca because i have a JZS155 i bought the calipers i will try to test fit them soon and will se
Cool video bro
Thanks
Great video
Thanks!
good shit brother ... thanks a lot
Youre welcome!
Breakfluid eats EVERYTHING LOL
I knowwwwww
WD40 isn't a lubricating oil, try silicon or teflon grease.
BADASS
Hells yeahh
@@PoorManMods have you noticed an actual difference in braking power? I've read somewhere that it feels the same as stock
To be honest i did not do this for improved breaking performance. You can only stop as quickly as your tires and ABS will allow you and my crappy all seasons were over powered by the stock brakes, so this upgrade really yields no benefit in stopping power in my situation. That being said, the only reason i did this swap was for reliability. I went through 4 or 5 sets of front calipers because the pins and brackets kept seizing and warping my rotors. This 4 pot calipers dont have pins and brackets to lock up. Potential improved performance and a cool look are just a bonus
Awesome!
Thank you!
Rebuild them before painting and just tape up the piston.. Working on a freshly painted caliper is just a bad idea, specially if it involves brake fluid.
Rebuild them before you paint absolutely, but not powder coat. Baking them at 425 degrees for 20 minutes might hinder the integrity of the seals and boots. Not a risk im willing to take, I dont want to install them find out they piss fluid when you press the pedal.
@@PoorManMods Right, I forgot about the cooking, I guess just tape them up while you work on it, good info!
@@Motorsportsgeek yeah i guess you could tape them up or try to wrap them in plastic or something. I will certainly try doing some kind of protection in the future
This guy is a fuckin GENIUS

Thanks!

Does ls400 work on mk3 supra?
why would u go ls4. u have a supra. Go Supra!!
@@joshalvarez03 lol. I am talking about brakes not ls4.
@@Faizanrana600 still why would u go ls4 brakes on a supra. like i said you have a supra go supra brakes not ls4 lmao
Everyone will go and tell you that they fit but they don't you need to get a shop to press out the old adapters to put the new ones in don't listen to a poor man's mods his stuff is fake
Everything you need to do with the parts i used i did in this video
@@PoorManMods torched that bitch 5 times and hit it with a sledge hammer and air hammer doesnt move I call it fake. Thank you and all other guys who failed to mention that very important park fucking unbelievable.
I have no idea what youre talking about. This video is an exact step by step with the parts i used.
Go ahead and watch the video from 8:50-10:00. So fake...
Brakefluid ruins paint, always..
I know..
Hey bro could we talk on the phone
Great video, informative as fuck like always. Glad you didn't get rid of the is300
Thank you! Haha
Do the abs speed sensors fit and bolt right up to the ls400 calipers ?
Great video
Thanks!
