R.I.P. to the legendary Mark Morales A.K.A. Prince Markie Dee I can’t believe it dead at only 52 years old that’s so young I remember growing up back in NYC listening to The Fat Boys music, my dad grew up with Kurtis Blow and my dad told me a story that Kurtis Blow had introduced them to my dad back in 1984 when Kurtis was working on their project debut album Prince Markie Dee will always be remembered as on the legendary pioneers of hip hop.
The Disco 3 was some of the dopest MCs ever. They really should have hall of fame status. But thier manager talked them into that Fat boy shit and they lost credibility because of it. They made a lot of bread because of it, but people started taking them as a joke. They were young and thier manager took advantage of that
S.I.P. to this #FatBoys legend! First we lost BUFFY and know PRINCE MARKIE DEE. Maan, we lost a lot of pioneers in the Hip-Hop game recently. My condolences to his friends, fans and family. Long live #FatBoys! Long live #PrinceMarkieDee Long live #SoulConvention Long live #HIPHOP!!!
@ FURY ANDERSON I feel kinda down tonight, because of Buff Love's 27th anniversary of his death. But then I realize that I have collected seven of the albums on cassette, when I listen to these classic songs and makes me smile and reflect on my teenage years. Gone but never forgotten, sleep in peace Darren Robinson AKA the Ox that rocks. DJ Dr Nice, Buffy, Buff Love. And I love imitating his beatbox style.
R I P MARKIE DEE AND HUMAN BEAT BOX. GODBLESS KOOL ROCK SKI. FAT BOYS WAS VERY LYRICAL. THE BIGGEST FAT BOY FAN BUT YEAT IM JUST HEARING THIS SONG REALITY ON TODAY FEB 24 2021 . THANKS FOR BLESSINGS ME WITH THIS SONG PRINCE MARKIE DEE I LOVE YOU MY BROTHER.
@@2apocalypsex yeah this comment makes no sense. Does he mean nobody at all today makes thinking music? Because that's just factually untrue. Does he mean the mainstream doesn't make thinking music? Well this song wasn't mainstream either, shit's not even on Spotify.
Word.they told us stories.it was like a news reporter.when you listen to 80s rap you know what was going on back than.if we tried to do the same for today...well if you can understand the mumble and auto tune.but it would be about whay? Smoking weed and doing drugs.and whatever they are talking about.back than they had messages about not doing drugs.plus they werent afraid of using their real voice and it all rymed and made sense.
I remember them on NYC Hot Tracks videos. It was broadcast on WABC Ch. 7 on Fridays at 11:30pm. Simulcast in stereo on the radio. (This was just before Stereo was built into the TV 's folks) The host of Hot Tracks was Carlos De Jesus, a radio DJ from WKTU. When they were auditioning for the movie "Beat Street" on 3 weekends (maybe 4) at the Roxy Roller Rink/Disco, Carlos was the host and one time the Disco 3, that changed their name to the Fat Boys performed there. The audition for the movie was who would be the competition for the NYC Breakers. Saw Madonna there once before she was famous, she wore glasses and was dressed like the grunge look. Sadly, Carlos, Prince Markie Dee, and Darren Robinson have passed away.
Kool Rock likes to talk shit about this record.. I seriously don't understand why. It's really revolutionary when you think about it; first record to have a beatbox and the production by James Mason is so fucking good. I guess it's because of ''biting'' the message concept. Rockman also claims that the record ''never left their block and nobody heard it''. According to discogs there were 4 pressings of this in 1983 and 2 of them in Germany.. It's just too bad youtube doesn't have that beat version because that shit rocks hard!!!!
@@terrymiller111 Doug E Fresh did his first record in 1983 under "Boo Dah Bliss Crew". That sounds like Reggae and there's no beatboxing. That's here the first vinyl record with a human beatbox.
I haven't heard this in ages. Saw the Fat Boys at Fresh Fest 85... Blow was a much better producer for them... he really featured Buffa beatbox so much better. The reverb and bass boost still hits hard to this day.
I always liked them better as The Disco 3. Fat Boys was a complete about face. In a strange way it is reminiscent of Eminem from Infinte to Slim Shady EP. #RIP Prince Markie Dee and Buff Love
The fat boys...this should of been used for krushgroove.but either way its still dope.raw and real.they told us a story and taught us lessons.they rymed and used their own voice.my how rap has changed.
They said “make the other beat box want to retire” i think they’re referring to drum machines indicating the human beat box can do anything those machines could do and better. Besides, they didn’t say the other human beat box.
Man I thought I had heard all of their songs. I guess not. They were my favorite rap group and it's 2024 and I'm hearing this. Still awesome
Same….they weren’t my FAVORITE but the first album I ever had
You know why you're here. Glad(tv) you made it.

As much as I still love the movie “The Disorderlies” it really killed their hip hop carriers. Almost like what happened to Ice-t.
The very first single they produced ! they were the best !

James Mason...keyboardist and guitarist for Roy Ayers’ band did the best for this heater 🔥
Back when rap music had a good message in it. Not like today's rap.
There are lots of rappers making music that has positive messages you just don't hear it on the radio or in the mainstream

Kool Rockski said this was them trying to do The Message

0:38 jab at Doug E Fresh back in 1983?
it's Darren Robinson
Yes. Darren Robinson wanna make the other beatbox, Doug E. Fresh, retire. At least, that's how heard the lyric.
They said “make the other beat box want to retire” i think they’re referring to drum machines indicating the human beat box can do anything those machines could do and better. Besides, they didn’t say the other human beat box.

Song was alright
Vlad brought me here!
