A cool reference I noticed was when Kinger asked Zooble if she ‘experienced a game show’ after getting spat back out. This is a nod to a couple of Gooseworx’ other animations, namely Little Runmo and Elaine the Bounty Hunter, in which the main characters get eaten and have to participate in a game show to get out again. A really cool reference, and one that doesn’t feel forced or unfunny!
And the abstracted characters also look like they could be a nod to The Elders Of Lost Eyes from Elain gets adopted!
I noticed the Runmo reference on my first watch too, it's one of my favorite animations of all time

Fun fact: Pomni’s name is extremely fitting because it’s actually a russian word meaning “remember” meanwhile almost none of the other characters have a name with a meaning that could represent them
Jax = jumping jax and hes a rabbit
Ragatha = raggedy anne
Kinger = isnt very creative
Gangle = this ones a stretch but giggle and tangle mixed
Zooble = dunno
And caine = could just be the cain he has dunno

@@ferretking1243Zooble reminds me a lot of this girl's building set I had as a kid called Ello. The pieces were wavy shaped, geometric, flat, brightly colored pieces just like that.
Theory either Caine or a higher program knew Koufmo had "abstracted" so chose to make the next person that got stuck there a jester to replace the clown character. Notice how each character is a different type of children's show character, but only one of each, but the doors show multiples of different types, so what if when one of a type for the "cast" gets abstracted the next person that shows up is turned into their replacement (animal character for an animal character, chess for chess, 90s wacky shapes, doll, comical circus, and theater themed).
looking at all the X doors it seems the animal character is the one who most often breaks
A theory I have is that the white void is where you abstract, and Caine can fully choose to save them or not, as seen with Pomni
What if you don't abstract, but someone turns them into that because they are getting close to escaping

Now that makes me wonder that if this theoey is true, do they pick people that are worthy to replace them or do they just suck them into this world just because they can and let certain people who put on the headset just play and leave??

you could also see pomni staring into the colorful void as another kubrick reference! specifically to 2001 when dave watches the colors go by on the trip to jupiter, especially the close up of her eye reflecting the void feels reminiscent of the 2001 scene

This might be a strech, but I think this has a striking resemblence to "I have no mouth and I must scream" a group of humans are endlessly tortured by an AI until they either die or go crazy. I also noticed Ragatha's charachter is much more optimistic than all the others, which recalls that one charachter that always stayed optimistic. this might seem far fetched, and I might change my mind when new episodes come out

I want to say this because I don't think people fully realized it yet but we've seen Jax, ragatha, and pommi react in very fitting ways to this, pomni understandably is freaking out because of this insanity, ragatha is remaining optimistic even while danger, and Jax is seemingly putting on an aggressive act and face because of how much time they've spent there. Jax is an interesting case because out of everyone else they are the most calm and orderly and suspiciously put together than the rest, Jax for the most part while they out on a mean guy act they are the most frustrated with caines antics as when the spare icon appeared, and also has a key to everyones room. Jax suspiciously is the only smiling and only really makes another emotion when grabbed in the neck. This is what I noticed
as the saying goes when someone reacts calmly to every situation they have the most to hide
i think for Jax this might be a "Sans" type situation like how Sans is constantly dealing with exastansial dread but he still smiles and cracks jokes to cope

I should note, the "anteater" character on the door is more likely to be a worm on a string! also i think the mannequin doors might be unoccupied and were never occupied by anyone before, simply a placeholder room for any new characters!

To me, i don’t think people can actually die, as some of the promos have some of the characters still alive after being struck by blades and such, so i think all the characters prior that all had their doors X-ed out simply went mad and obstructed.
It’d make sense everyone knows it so well, given they’ve experienced this happen to others before. And considering the cellar is chock full of corrupted eyes and figures, similar to how caufmo looked afterwards, i’d say there’s quite a lot of people in there.
Man, this show’s got everything, humor, horror, a bit of mystery. I’d love for them to fund a full season.
yeah, in the pilot zooble does get eaten by the gloink queen and comes out completely fine - so the "dying" is more likely just being abstracted
I think the "dying" in that world is in the old cartoons aspect, rather than the real. It's still unpleasant, but they get reformed for another go soon enough like Tom & Jerry or the old WB stuff with Bugs Bunny. Caine can probably reset or respawn them repeatedly as easy as fixing the glitching as long as their conscious stays connected to that realm. It's why Jax is so non-chalant about it, you're back again as a player soon enough. Abstraction is the thing that lead to the real losses there.
@@pauljs75 Agreed, it's probably more like "dying" in a cartoon sense where a character will 'die' at the end, but will come back fine the next time see them. Sorta like Spongebob in how some episodes will have the krusty krab destroyed only for it be in perfect shape the next episode
I think it is more of a case of SOMA where the characters have been copied in, while the real life versions have exited the game long ago. Literally makes the characters situation even more dreadful, but makes sense to how Pomni couldnt "Take this headset off" because she does not have one, she IS her character. A form of copy of the user. It is also why there is nobody at the computer. Her real self is just gone, not transported into the Digital Circus, but copied in. It means, theres two of her. One that put the headset down and went home, and one stuck in the circus.
In Soma, there is this big puzzle where you have to interrogate a piece of information from a copied man that was put into a computer. You can torture him, or make him slip out the information you need. Regardless, it is a real man but copied into a digital environment, and you can reset him every time he realises he is not in a real place. Its really horrifying to think about in many ways and I do hope ADC does something similar. The intro where the "Day after day" glitchy part makes sense, as well as a bunch of other scenes in the pilot.
Is Soma a video game that’s playable? Or is it more along the lines of a video horror series that you can find on UA-cam? The plot sounds very interesting and I’m intrigued lol

I noticed pomni is a jester and she showed up when the clown broke, we also have a queen and king chess piece so maybe there’s certain roles that and when one character breaks new humans are brought in to fill the void, it’s a digital world so even if it feels like minutes inside the world years could pass by before a new human subject is sucked in . In “I have no mouth yet I must scream “ the main character spends 2000 years just saying one sentence so there’s history for the concept of time manipulation

@@milksalmonI think the sock puppet could have been the past gangle, the theme being that both are used to put on shows (and sock puppet’s tend to have a small puppet theater)
I think the time is switched where years pass in the digital land but in real life it’s not that long because if people continuously go missing because of a specific VR company it wouldn’t last that long at all.

Anyone else notice the flower pot bugging out? Also I absolutely love Caine. He is so funny especially when he reacts to Bubble being weird like when Bubble licks up the black vomit, he is like “why are you like this?” And calls Bubbles a parasite for eating all the cake

we need to talk about what it means to have missed things, cause i can assure you NOBODY missed the fact that Gangle's comedy mask was broken, she EXPLICITLY states in the episode that it was, nor did anyone miss the SPARE scene seeing as the show intentionally lingers on it so Jax can run back and break the sign.

I think that the abstractions such as kaufmo and the ones found in the "cellar" have their design loosely based off the elders of lost eyes, a group of characters seen in Gooseworx's animation elain gets adopted. They're very similar, with how they have a completely black body and multicolored glowing eyes.
I think the line “what did the exit say to the clown” may become important later on as it suggests that Kaufmo may have learned something from the exit that may become important later on as the other characters will have to find out what did he learn, in other words they need to find out what the punchline was
I think the Cain and Able theory has merit as Cain could have created the digital circus to try and bring back his dead brother or finish his passion project. Just me spitballing but I’m sure MatPat will have something to say about all this.
I think Cain and Abel were both programs in charge of the digital circus game but Cain grew jealous and deleted Abel which lead to the dystopian state it is now.
We need Matteus patteus on this right now
In the Bible Cain was jealous that god preferred Ables sacrifices over his, and after killing Able, Cain was punished by god to “roam the earth” which makes me think Cain has done something awful to Able in the show and somehow ended up being merged with the circus ringmasters AI (I say merged because it seems like Cain has no idea what humans think is enjoyable but still created an exit for them containing objects that he had vague memories of)

Ngl I’m tired of MatPat’s theories, he clearly just gathers random stuff (mostly outrageous theories that don’t make sense) and shoves it into a 30 minute video to milk it for likes and views
I wasn’t initially grabbed by Murder Drones but this has really piqued my interest. Im glad they’re leaning into keeping a lot of things a mystery instead of explaining the premise immediately, I think that was my main issue with MD (no disrespect, still a very impressive show). I’m excited for what Glitch has planned!

I heard somebody say that Jax is like the N of TADC but I think that's just insanely shallow and dim-minded because they pretty much just said that because its the main male character and is also voiced by Kovach. Jax is pretty much the Angel Dust of TADC in this case
1:25 I think the orange and green anteater is actually supposed to be a string worm! I saw it and immediately thought of string worms because I have a lot in my room 😅

Something I noticed is that in the scene where Pomni vomits, the vomit has an image as its texture. Said image seems to be the same small scenery with the pink flowers on the front that is used as Metal Mario's texture in Mario 64.
As a fan of Mario and of small easter eggs like that, I find this to be an incredible reference ^^
I think the ant eater looking thing is actually one of those string worms, it fits well with the dreamcore like theme since string worms are used a lot in both dreamcore and weirdcore stuff. idk if I’m right or wrong, just wanted to theough this out there.
2:34 With the drawing on the left being Caine, this might give us a glimpse of how koufmo viewed Caine. My theory is that koufmo viewed Caine as a tyrant, forcing the other member and him to participate in Caine’s “games” and then after awhile… we know what happened to koufmo.
I have a theory, at the start of the episode when pomni joined sge said that she "put on a headset" I'm guessing it's a vr headset, and when we see the computer near it there's also something resembling a vr headset, I'm guessing that pomni tried to play the game but got stuck, and that the computer is her computer.
kind of but no bacon, yes she put on a head set and there is a head set near the computer but i don't think it is theirs. I do belive they recognize it because they pause when looking at it out of all of the other desks. Making me think that it was important but in way that would trigger another important person or reason. They shouldn't be able to remember what was their past self.
It’s very interesting that while Jax seems like the comedy relief side character, throughout all the advertising, he’s treated like the next important character after Pomni

One little reference that made me giggle is when Kinger says “you didnt see a gameshow in there, did you?” after Zoinkle gets out of the queens stomach. Its a reference to the Gastral Giveaway scene in Little Runmo and the gameshow scene in Elaine the Bounty Hunter, two of Gooseworx’s other projects
In the Digital Circus ad, there was a glitch near the end when they say "Amazing" and it cuts to "Maze" and shows an image of a hedge maze. This implies that there is a way to escape somehow, just one that is very tricky to find.
When ragatha got attacked by abstracted kafumo and when pomni came back and ragatha was glitching, her eyes started to play pong with her nose at 15:02

The thing with two eyes on kofmos wall actually appears to be a picture of Cain if you look at it because it has a jaw under it

I really like it that in the opening song, you can see a "Utah Teapod", which is one of the oldest significant objects in CGI history. Also: a running gag and icon for 3DS Max users.
Here is something I missed the first time I watched it:
Before Ragatha gets glitched by Kaufmo, she tells Pomni there might be enough time to fix Kaufmo before they get Caine. That means there might be a way to un-abstract humans without needing Caine in the first place.
Ragatha tells Pomni Caine might be able to help Kaufmo, it isn't until Caine retrieves Pomni from the void that Pomni notices that her hand stopped glitching without Caine's intervention

Wow I thought I was the only one who made that connection. Yeah I came to that conclusion when the MC said she put something on her head. Never specified what though. And plus it's been made clear that it's a digital space and not a magical space.

I’m wondering if the previous characters who became abstracted were some of the game designers trying to fix it instead of just test subjects, and it’s certainly intriguing that the system has been on for most likely decades, meaning no one has pulled the plug on it or else they can’t turn it off.😳🤔

You forgot about the Yellow Exit door and Red Exit door, The Yellow Exit door was when Pomine got a tour. However, I can't say is it different then the Red Exit door that she Enter. But from point view, I feel like the red door is will make people go corrupts and the yellow door is probably a Exit... We do know that one of the member did saw the exit, but he was corrupted afterward, it could also possible that he enter the Red door and get Corrupted instead of going mad in his room, it just a theory in my part.
The red one was probably a decoy created by Caine to discourage the characters from looking for an exit, you can see when Pomni insisted she saw the door Caine has his outburst and then goes into a state of deep thought for a few seconds, definitely considering how to best curb Pomni's probing
The entirety of the “Exit” maze reminds me of the game SuperLiminal.
It’s a game where you have to escape a dream where and I quote “perception is reality”. The entire game has you following doors that say “EXIT” and while you do the world shifts around you, it’s pretty freaky

I have a slight theory. Maybe the queen Character shown at 1:42 (Imma call her Queena) was Kingers love interest / best friend. If it is a love interest, maybe kinger never got to telll Queena how he feels. When Queena went abstract, Kinger was so distraught at losing his love interest and the trauma caused him to become the way he is. Also being here for a long time would’ve played a big part in that.
my theory is that Cane is like Chaz from the game Virtual Virtual Reality.

mini theory: did you notice how ragatha was so terrified while talking about going insane and getting abstracted? Well my theory about it is that she once was on the verge of abstracting and almost got thrown in the pit where the abstracteds go and that’s why she’s so afraid of it
I'm excited to learn how humans get trapped, Pomni said she put on a headset before getting trapped. Was she employee at the company who made the digital world or someone who found VR Headset? What's interesting is Pomni means Remember, is she going to remember stuff more episodes get released?
I think the closeup shot of Pomni freaking out in the hallway is a reference to Evangelion. One of the scenes where Shinji stares at the camera, either saying, 'I mustn't run away' or is about to scream in End of Evangelion.
You missed this. Jax's design is probably inspired by a cat clock that smiles and moves its eyes left to right. It's seen in a scene!
Jax is a grown-up Max from Sam&Max, he even acts the part.

Pomni mentions “putting on a set” when she “entered” the Digital Circus, so i guess this is a game. Also did noone notice rooms changing in the office?
In the start when kinger is introduced he says "Did anyone say something about an insect collection?" Which further in the episode when jax, gangle, and kinger goes to the queen he says it looks like an insect collection. Maybe he has some sort of 'future' ability where he knows some abstract thing that will happen in the future
I think a more likely explanation is that he's just obsessed with insect collections (due to his insanity) and randomly brings them up in conversation frequently, whether or not they're relevant to the situation. It might become a running joke in the show for him to mention insect collections.
Jax calls Kinger "E1" which is the starting square for the white king in chess.
Correct me if i'm wrong but i belive that the stare thar pomni makes is called the Kubrick stare and it shows when a character is reaching their mental breaking point.i think

I love all of the characters. The designs are so unique and creative. It's cool how they are based off of things.
Fun fact! Pomni's first name choice "Xddcc" Roughly translates to "Out". And the name Pomni is a Slovenian word meaning "Remember" symbolizing the 2 things Pomni wants most, to get out and to remember who she was before.
C&A is a clothing store in Spain which makes the whole thing funnier in my head lol
It doesn’t mean much, but at the beginning when Pomni shows up the plant that falls next to her starts infinite clipping into the ground, with the same sound and movement as when it happens in a source game.
2:18 Kaufmo’s room’s walls are covered with creepy paintings and inscriptions - probably a reference to Slender: the arrival - the main character’s friend’s room.

I found the cast interesting, because Michael Kovach (Angel Dust’s original voice) voiced Jax and Elsie Lovelock (Charlie Mornigstar’s original voice) voiced the gloink Queen! I just love that these indie pilots share some of the same voice actors/actresses. Especially after I learned that Kovach voiced Rocky in the Lackadaisy pilot!

I noticed Zooble's Y shaped head extension shakes when irritated or angry and the Zigzag when she feels discomfort. Don't know much about her but that's all i got

Caine reminds me of spamton from Deltarune, i wonder if that was an intentional reference or just a fun inspiration 🥰🥰
I think there is one exit designed to be working for people to leave the game, however it was bugged so it didnt work and even mess with their mind, causing people to become abstracted. The queen was probably the first to encounter this bug since she and kinger were most likely early testers of the game. Caine can fix the glitch caused by the abstracted but cannot remove the abstracted people since they are real humans, so he can only isolate them in the celler. Caine probably have no control over the buggy exit but so far i think he is a good guy because he tried to create activities to make people less bored, protecting their mental stability.
Idk much about the christian references but if pomni is actually protrayed as jesus or the savior, then she might be the key to save everyone from the game. Somehow seems like only pomni sees the exit doors and caine didnt know about it as well(thus he tried to lie about creating them), the exit door she goes through didnt drive her abstracted but instead leads to scenes that remind her of the real world(does she work in C&A?). I predict pomni will eventually remember her objectives and free the crew from the game.
when it shows caine and bubble in the cafe or resturant place, the other customers are dummies like the ones on the doors.
The computer with the headset in the exitrooms is a really on the nose lore item i feel like. The circus is on the computer (digital circus) and pomni even said "i put on a headset and i cant take it off" it must be how to get in.
I don't know if it's just part of the background but in the zoom-out at the end you can see two spheres in the void at 22:44 in the original video. The first is towards the middle left and the second is on the bottom slightly to the right. They aren't part of the main island and seem to be solid objects sitting in the void. Could be something like a future location they might visit. Maybe they are separate islands controlled by other people like Abel.
