I share your enthusiasm and admiration for the M-39. It is indeed my favorite rifle. I do hunt with mine every year. I have taken several deer and 2 bears with it; all with one shot each. I find operating the safety both silent and positive. If you brace the butt in your elbow or bicep, you can apply or take off the safety with finger strength alone. I have done so with both deer and bear at bow range, undetected. Good video.
I was thinking we were going to move to ore-a-gone. Actually i thought the whole state of southern alaska was going to float down south and you would have lots of new neighbors. As can be seen in your video finally the rain stopped. Nice rifle and video
The first rifle I ever bought was a Vostock single shot .22. Even then it was cheap. Very plain , single stage trigger, but a chromed full floating hammered barrel, very smooth and good sights. I'm still shooting it. Funny enough the first pistol was also a Vostock. It is common to sneer at Russian enginnering, but having used the guns, including Baikal shotguns, Lada Nivas, Skoda cars and worked on some Skoda andTattra trucks. The stuff is enginnered , where it needs to be. One thing that seems to be mentioned a lot is that Russian guns are short in the stock. But if you are hunting in -20 and below, you will be wearing a lot of thick clothing. One thing about older guns, especially military, they were built to stand abuse, and after 70, 80, or even 100 + years of being treated like that, they still shoot.
Well said! And this thing is a freaking tank, the Finns basically took a gun that was already meant to function is some of the least hospitable conditions and dialed everything up to 11
@@GreatNorthwestWeaponry And from te look of it, did a good job. Stay safe! All our organised shooting is at a stop in UK at the moment. I'm bouncing of the walls. :-)
I also have a M28/30 that I have never shot due to what I have read that the ammo is supposed to be 7.62x53R vs regular 7.62x54R ammo. I found this out after buying the rifle. What do you shoot in yours & have you had any issues with it?
@@guillaumeferment7445 No D stamp. I'm familiar with the stamp, indicating the receiver was machined out to play nice with Russian ammo, there's one on my M39, which I LOVE that rifle! I was just wondering if yours didn't have the D stamp & if you had any issues with shooting it.
You shouldn’t have to load Mosin clips with the rims overlapping. It’s a very common misconception, but if your interruptor is working correctly it should automatically correct the rimlock issue. Ive got a few Mosins and some of them I’ve replaced the interrupters for this specific reason and I can load them opposite what people say and if you just give the bolt a gentle shove it loads just fine
Yessir, there’s an eBay seller based in Latvia that sells the original “1 piece” style of interrupter that would generally be used by the Finns. The “2 piece” to my knowledge are more for the Russian 91/30’s, although both are interchangeable I would get the 1 piece for correctness. Not expensive at all and I’ve always had great luck with his interrupters!
Don’t know where any are at the present moment, but there’s usually one or two on Gunbroker. And always check local pawn shops and gun stores! Never know what may pop up!

Very nice! Hopefully I get the opportunity to take some game with it in the not too distant future 👍🏻
Really enjoying your style of videos!

Best of luck man! Hope you’re able to get back on the range soon
@@GreatNorthwestWeaponry So do I. Maybe April?
I own both m28/30 and m39 and I certainly do get best results with the m28/30, still they are great to shoot no matter what.
Really hoping I can get one soon! Would love to compare and contrast both personally and here on the channel.

Damn I should have bought me one before the pandemic hit now it's crazy the price went up but I have a a carbine 44
Yeah Mosins are getting pricey… I was late to the party but at least I got in before it got too out of hand. Still need an M44 myself, perhaps soon…

May have to look into a new interrupter for mine then, cause it has jammed solid on me more than once. Thanks for the tip 👍🏻
