Our Maine Coon mix, Hermes, is 25lbs and the biggest cat I have ever seen in person. He's such a sweet baby, he loves everyone but he's especially bonded with me. He follows me around the house, taps me politely for pets, tells me to sit down so he can sit in my lap, herds me to bed at night so we can spoon (he's the little spoon.) He loves my husband too, he loves licking his arm hair at night.
How are they with other cats ? I have a male Russian Blue 3 years, a male Short Haired Black 2 years and a 6 month old little Calico girl. They three of them are best buddies, chasing and play fighting. They sleep with us on the bed at times. I wonder how a Main Coon would fit in our household. I have always wanted one. Now that I am retired I spend all my time with my three and would to have another so why not a Main ? Hope you can advise or point me in the direction of someone that can. Thank you. P.S. Love your story, spooning lol.
I just adopted a Maine coon this elderly woman could not take care of him anymore he is 4 years old and hes the sweetest nicest cat I have ever ever owned I am so proud to be his new mummy
Just lost mine after twenty years. He was a real CatDog! He when he was younger, be weighed 10kg in winter and 7kg in summer. It was amazing how his body and coat changed with the seasons. Would love another one one day.

I've had a lot of cats in my life. Having owned (well a stray, I found) a Maine Coon that came along by chance, they are one of the most beautiful, gentle cats I have ever had the good fortune to come across. They are little cat angels sent from heaven. RIP little Moocher!
I have a Maine Coon she is the sweetest very friendly always following me around the house 🤗she has a teddy bear toy she walks around with in her mouth as she chirps 😂they truly are amazing and very intelligent ❣️
What a fantastic cat. So dignified. I have a cat named Pippin, but she's a tiny (didn't have the best start in life) rescued tabby. Would love a Maine Coon one day.
We have a Maine Coon girl Amy who we got from a person who couldn’t look after her anymore when she was 2 years old she is 11 years old in September and we love her to bits ❤️
I'm biased also. I had a MC female and she was such a love muffin. She was a great comfort after my husband died. Sassy would follow wherever I went. She wanted to go for rides in the car. It didn't matter where she just wanted to go. Lightfoot at times has some Maine Coon personality traits as well. He leads me all over the apartment to show he what he wants. Sometimes he forgets to watch where he's going and he walks into a trash can or kitchen chair. Very silly and loving.
We have a 7mo.male ginger/white kitten named Sunny. He is the dearest ♥️ .We got him from a breeder in Wisconsin. Nothing but joy!! Love him, he just oozes happy happy happy! Blessings to you!
We got a male MC from the SPCA that had been returned twice and he was in rough shape when we got him but he has blossomed. He follows my wife around the house and is by far the sweetest cat we have ever had. He is such a gentleman and never demands. He is also doing a fine job of keeping our mouse population in check. We are so fortunate and he is such an adorable cat. Love the tail too and it is ALWAYS up.
I've adopted a Maine Coone from a friend who went back to living with his parents, the cat was locked away in a bench practically 24/7. His fur was knotted really bad & covered in pee, also underweight.... Just miserable! I really felt sorry for the cat, so I suggested I'd take him in. I've had cats and dogs all my life, but this one is special & really stole my heart. I've only come across your channel recently, but I can see alot of common behaviour between both of them!
I was a long time siamese owner too! Long story short, we adopted a Maine coon and after he passed, I can't imagine life without a MC. I'd recommend one, a million times over!
All cats are incredible, but the forest cats (Siberians, Norwegians, Masquerades and Maine Coons) are in a league of their own. You only need one in your home for a few minutes to realise that the joy of cat ownership just stepped up several gears. These are big cats with massive personalities, and they never take no for an answer. Ignore them at your peril!

I was in Montana on summer vacation when I was 7 and it is really hot there even at night, so I was out at midnight and had the 2nd biggest scare of my life when I saw two huge animals come around the corner of the house. I couldn't figure out what they were cos they were too fluffy for wolves-- and I was making a mad dash for the house. Many years later, I'd heard of Maine Coons, but not their size. The internet educated me-- as well as solved a 50 year old mystery for me! My last baby was a MC mix and I would love to have another, pure bred or mix, doesn't matter to me and after hearing this, I would want a male (tho' I wouldn't be upset with a female!). Pippin is just sooo adorable and reminds me so much of my Boyo! I love watching your vids every chance I get! Thank you for sharing Pippin with us! Take good care!
Adopted Elsa our maine coon. From the time we get up in morning, she is affectionate demanding attention. Follows me around like a dog. She is a handful, the best cat ever. Love her
I have a 15-year-old male Pedigree Maine Coon Cat that I bought in 2009 for $600.00. His name is Sir Prince Charming because he can turn on the Charm and get his staff of two caretakers to do anything he wants. He loves to spend most of his time outdoors and the only time he ever used a litter box was when the temperature outside was below zero. He eats the same food, Hills Science Diet 11+ every day and never tires of it. He is never a bother to take care of as he is just about the perfect pet in every way. 😽🥰😼
Back in the early 90's I had bought a Maine Coon from a breeder in Carmel, Ca. His Grand Father was a grand champion. We got him home as soon as it was permitted by age. We named him CJ from the white C and J in the fur on his grey side. There never was a more loving cat in the quite a few cats we have had in our house. Total of 9 with 5 at the same time. While reading a news paper in bed, he would jump up by my feet and start walking under the paper and lay down on my chest. Lots of Purring and a vibration that tingled at times. He would reach up and lick my chin and then ever so gently bite and hold onto my chin for about 30 seconds purring louder. like the one here, mine too was a head butter to the face. Always ready for a belly Rub and a good brushing. My wife and I would go for walks and he would accompany us to the corner then turn and trot back home tail held straight up. He was mine and I was his. Just like here, there is a lot of love in that look pippin gives I would get. I really miss him.
Aww, I'm a dog person (dachshunds especially) but if I wasn't allergic to cat dander I'd love to have a little guy like this. They seem to have some of the traits I best love about dogs, like being cuddly and loving. Pip just gazed at you adoringly the whole time you were talking!
I’m allergic to cats too but we decided to adopt a three year old Main Coon that retired from a breeder. I haven’t had any allergy problems with her at all. Not sure why that is, but I’m very grateful because Ginger is the sweetest and most gentle creature I have ever met. When I’m laying in bed she loves to lay on my chest. It makes it hard to read but I don’t mind.
*BEST SOLUTION:* (but expensive) _Get a Siberian._ Maine Coons & Siberians & Norwegian Forest Cats are all very similar breeds, but the Siberian has the lowest allergen saliva of any cat. They are a little smaller than Maine Coons but also prettier. Same dog like behavior.
I started crying when I seen this video. He looks almost identical to my childhood cat Tinker who lived 17 years. The only difference is more white on the chest and a more triangular face. He was half Maine Coon half Norwegian Forest cat. When he was overweight, he was 50lbs but we got him down to a healthy weight of 30lbs. He was truly a gentle giant, insanely intelligent but pretty aloof. The only times he let me cuddle him was all the times I had to go outside ro carry him in because he was lazy. I miss him so much 😭😭❤❤RIP Tinker.
I have two Maine Coons. Half brother and sister (same father). Dooku (boy, two and a half years old), is a complete cuddle bunny with both me and my husband. He doesn't like strangers, but is very quick to befriend them. Always saying hello. His best friend is his sister, Luna (nearly two years), who doesn't like strangers. Hides, which is surprising to me and tends to be aloof. She's a lot better now. Took a long time for her to come out of her shell. She definitely a mummy's girl, whereas, Dooku is my husband's cat.
I agree, we had one without knowing he was one and I was thinking how special this cat was compared with other cats I have had. I always said he is like our fourth dog. There are many similarities in behavior to yours. Everyone here loves this tomcat to bits. He even cuddles with the dogs and waits for me to come in the evening. If I am at home, he is where I am or very near...
Great information and a gorgeous cat, just like my Nicole in every way. She is a tabby and full of energy . She is now 19 years old and still acts like a kitten.
I'm super biased as well. We had two and they were the greatest! I agree with everything you said. Spot on! I'm from Maine, by the way. It was fun to watch them grow from kittens. Wonderful cats!
My Walter was 8 lbs at 6 months. He goes for 2nd shots tomorrow We'll see how much he's gained. His little sister is so different.. We got her at an age where she was still needing supplemental bottle feeding. Very much more catlike, as you pointed out. Walter actually still exhibits nursing behavior.. Making muffins under my beard. It tickles and slightly hurts at the same time. Like getting gently tattoed.
Nice video and a really beautiful coonie 😊 congratulations! I can tell living with norwegian forest cats ist just like that, also affectionate and very peaceful animals. It feels like they are the source of relaxed good mood, we have three of them and they really get anlong with any visitor and every Situation. Even new years fireworks don't scare them, they watch it. Its a pleasure and big enrichment to share our home with them 😊
We pick up our Maine Coon in two weeks. We are so excited! I have two little girls, 9 and 4 and we have another on baby the way (which we just found out about) so we are hoping our new boy and our baby will be the best of friends. We have an American Short Hair tuxedo male who is 6, right now and he *tolerates* our girls lol He enjoys pets from our 9 year old but still looks at our 4 year old as if she’s going to hit him lol needless to say we are all very excited.
I could not agree more. I only have Maine Coons. They are so dog like. Pinkerton, my Maine Coon follows me around everywhere. He was easy to train. The males are more sociable and I am a little biased on the color. I have had more orange colored Maine Coons and they have such a personality to them. You can not go wrong with a Maine Coon!
I just stumbled onto your channel. There’s another channel that I’m subscribed to about Maine Coons, I’ve been with her (I believe) since she started her channel. She’s now on her 2nd litter from her smoke cat Luna. Luna’s “buddy” is a cream smoke/cameo named Buster. I have a real weakness for anything that is about Maine Coons. All that, to say I had one, named Greg, and a rescue, named Atticus for 6 years. Now the hard part of the story: I have moved to Italy, and where I’m living I can’t have pets, so I had to find them a home that would take them both because they were a bonded pair they grew up together from kittens. Fortunately I did, but I was a basket case driving to drop them off, driving back home, and for the next couple of days. They were both my “buddies”, but I’ll be honest, Greg was my favorite. If I was working at my desk, he made sure that he would be on top of the desk watching me, and then falling asleep. He always kept an eye on me. I miss them. I do have a couple of questions: 1) Are you in the UK 2) How big is your flat I plan on getting at least 1 more male Maine Coon with another rescue kitten, or what I would prefer brother and brother or at the least a brother and sister from the same litter. Not sure when, but soon. I really miss my “shadow”. Can’t wait to watch your other videos.
The Bruce Forsythes of the cat world! The temperament looks wonderful, but though I have two sibling Maine Coon X Ragdolls I'm now a Norwegian Forest Cat woman all the way (which is what my youngest cat is) ... I just love their straight nose-bridges and slightly slanted almond-shaped eyes 😍. My boy is also huge and super-loving, too ... I've truly never known such an adoring cat. I only have to come into a room for him to start up his purr-motor!.
Absolutely precious, gorgeous and obviously very intelligent. I like it when they are highly educated and attrasctive....and the same goes for the cat, lol. Just a little joke there, even though it is the truth. My Norwegian Forest cat watched this with me, and she gave such a cute vocalization when she saw Pippin. Hubby is truly blessed to be with these two.
What a handsome and sweet fellow you have. We have a cat from rescue that is clearly part Maine Coon... He is 17 pounds in 3.5 years....sweet and so much fur :) My son moved to Maine USA and is considering getting one from a local breeder :)
Very true my old maincoon Ceasar lived lying by his big boy most of all, any time I went for a nap or bed Ceasar had to hope up right next to me a rest. If I sat down on the couch to watch tv he was right there. I miss him very much he was my buddy.
He is gorgeous! Several of the traits mentioned are similar to a Tortie I had. She’d follow me from room to room, wanted to cuddle almost all the time, frequently licked me, was very talkative, came when I whistled, etc.. In her younger years she was more of a one-person cat, but she eventually became very sociable and would snuggle with just about anyone. She was playful for her entire life. I will say she was more likely to use her claws than a Maine Coon, especially when she was younger, and could appear to be aggressive at the vets. Luckily, she was only aggressive towards the vets and would always let me hold her so they could what they needed to do. I had her for 18 years and I still miss my sweet girl!
He's a beauty, reminds me of my mom and dad's mainecoon from 10 years ago, weighed 20 lbs, my dad used to take him for walks using a dog harness/leash.
I had a mixed Maine coin stray and he was the best. He preferred my wife as his person, but was still affectionate to me, my step daughter and the other pets. I was devastated when he got ran over. Miss you Ani
Where did you get Pippin? We just lost our 19 year old Maine Coon "Moo". She is and was one of the great loves of our lives. She was our soul mate kitty.
Looks like plenty of fluff is flying off Pippin and it's not even Spring time yet, please tell Pippin that it is still too cold to start sharing his floof lol
You have a gorgeous cat that came from a responsible breeder. This is how this breed is supposed to look; there are other channels on here where the cats of this breed are of very long, scary faces and abnormal hair growth patterns. That comes from inbreeding of the parents. Don't ever buy one like that.
We’ve had two MC’s and neither accepted being brushed. Mats were a big problem and we had to get the lion cut once a year. They also didn’t like cuddling.
I'm glad you said that because people have a thing that cats do not love that they only need you for your their food that they don't love you and they don't need you outside of that and I know cats do love you they show it my Lulu did
I had a male...he was the most affectionate cat ever. Slept with me and loved to lay on my shoulder and sleep. I miss him.😢
❤🩹
Nothing will ever replace our furry loved ones, but you need to get another one, brother. (If you haven't, of course)....peace.

I had a 22# boy, Tuxedo type….gentle, personable, followed me everywhere. More than 20 years ago, still missing my friend.😢
Its a pleasure and big enrichment to share our home with them 😊
THAT look he gave you in yur eyes was priceless.......true love... just that brief moment, i caught it........
Hey Alexa, how has it been going? It’s been 9 months now. Would love an update on your MC
Big, beautiful fluffy Pippin
Thank you! 😊🐱
I have a Maine coon and she is the love of my life.
Don’t you just luv a well trained owner😂😂😂❤❤❤❤
Beautiful 😻
😂! Brilliant! 🤩 🤣🤣🤣
Aw cute! 100% you cannot😊🐱😻
Now the hard part of the story:
I have moved to Italy, and where I’m living I can’t have pets, so I had to find them a home that would take them both because they were a bonded pair they grew up together from kittens.
I do have a couple of questions:
1) Are you in the UK
2) How big is your flat
I plan on getting at least 1 more male Maine Coon with another rescue kitten, or what I would prefer brother and brother or at the least a brother and sister from the same litter. Not sure when, but soon. I really miss my “shadow”.
Can’t wait to watch your other videos.
Yes, we live in the UK. But not in a flat 😊
He's just absolutely gorgeous. I'm moving out of my country in about a month or so, I'll be in a position to get me one of those marvelous furballs
He looks majestic, I want to buy one in the future
Thank you🐾🐱 You should definitely consider it🐾😻
He is a stunning cat!!
Be still my heart... He is a beauty! Just amazing! ❤❤❤❤
What a super handsome cat living his best and enjoying country life too!
Pippin is such a loving cat, can you imagine him sitting on you for a cuddle if he was as large as a German Shepherd? lol
I bought two 12 week old pedigreed brothers, and they are indeed great family members.
Very true my old maincoon Ceasar lived lying by his big boy most of all, any time I went for a nap or bed Ceasar had to hope up right next to me a rest. If I sat down on the couch to watch tv he was right there. I miss him very much he was my buddy.
The way he gazes at her 🥹❤️
idk why, but your ponytail is so cool! also thanks for the great video :)
He's gorgeous and I don't blame you for being super biased I would be too if he was mine
Pippin seems like a real sweetheart.
Pippin is great! We used to have a Maine coon, Freddy. I would love another one, one day.
He's a beauty, reminds me of my mom and dad's mainecoon from 10 years ago, weighed 20 lbs, my dad used to take him for walks using a dog harness/leash.
My white maine coon arrives in 4 days I am so excited 😻
Apologises for the late response, how lovely, how's it going?😻🐾
Love him!
Looks just like my Frankie cat, 1988-2005.
He was the best. ❤
Great video!!!! Very informative.
I had a mixed Maine coin stray and he was the best. He preferred my wife as his person, but was still affectionate to me, my step daughter and the other pets. I was devastated when he got ran over.
Miss you Ani
I get my first Maine Coon kitten on Dec 20, anc I can't wait. I'm so excited~!
Wow Melinda, that is exciting!😺 let us know how it goes🐾💙
100 million % agree...will never own another cat breed ❤❤❤ beautiful boy ❤❤❤
It.was my dream to have a Maine Coon but at 76 it’s too late now……..they are the most magnificent of the cat family
It's never too late - what about adopting an older one?
A up me duck! Love cats too
Where did you get Pippin? We just lost our 19 year old Maine Coon "Moo". She is and was one of the great loves of our lives. She was our soul mate kitty.
Looks like plenty of fluff is flying off Pippin and it's not even Spring time yet, please tell Pippin that it is still too cold to start sharing his floof lol
Mine's the same. I have a short hair that turned out to be bigger. They both love each other so much.
Wow. Fabulous cat.
Everything about him just says, "Life here is good!"
What a Handsome Boy!!
What do you use for a litter box? I imagine a medium size children’s plastic swimming pool would work.
Just lovely!
4:32 "Those two are like best friends" 😂 Husband treated like a cat or cat treated like husband
🤣 obviously husband treated like a cat! 🤣 and cat treated like a dog! 🐶
🤣 obviously husband treated like a cat! 🤣 and cat treated like a dog! 🐶
I'm glad you said that because people have a thing that cats do not love that they only need you for your their food that they don't love you and they don't need you outside of that and I know cats do love you they show it my Lulu did
What a beautiful baby!!!
He looks so much like our Opie we adopted. Amazing breed
His Royal Highness has entered the room!
Haha, you got it! Pipster sure is King😻
He LOVES You. Reminds me of my siamese, he was such a Lover of anyone that we allowed into the house.
