- This video will teach how to pentest / " hack " wifi networks that can be found anywhere.
This video is for educational purposes only and is meant to help you understand how networks are commonly hacked to be able to protect yourself, family and friends against it.

I recommend installing kali linux in a virtual machine, if you do not know how to do this please look up some videos on how to do it.
Wifi / network hacking is not by itself illegal, it is beneficial to gain understanding on how attackers might look to attack your network to be able to prevent it before it happens, especially considering how 99%+ of networks are hackable with this method, so you can most certainly make improvement on your own network at home.

I just want to make sure that you guys understand that this is only meant to show you how an attacker would perform this attack as knowing how it works is the best way to understand how to prevent it.
Do not, under any circumstance, deauth random people or do this to networks that are not yours.
As an additional security step, disable auto reconnect on all your wifi devices which protects against a bunch of stuff like this.
As for whether it's "patched", this has been fixed in modern versions of wifi protocols like WPA3 and WPA2 with protected frames, but since most ISPs only send out the cheapest 5$ chinese routers when buying an internet connection pretty much everything is vulnerable.

@casperd2100 afaik brute force is trying a bunch of passwords when trying to login so one gets it. Here they take the encrypted password and decrypt it.

This is the most important video I've ever seen on UA-cam. You're not only teaching but also showing how to be protected, and this is apply to everything. You shouldn't care about just your wifi's password, you should care about your password EVERYWHERE. People don't realized it and get shocked when they get hacked.

5:04 actually there is a protection against a deauthentication attack. Enable protected management frames aka IEEE 802.11w. This prevents an attacker sending deauthentication packets and them actually doing anything. The vulnerability is normal packets are encrypted with wpa2/3 but the control frames are not. PMF enables encryption on these frames, causing a deauth to not work anymore. Support for this is flaky but if you have a high end router or an enterprise wap and a wifi 6 or above client, it'll work.
Oh yeah for sure, but since internet security is something that the common people which is legit basically everyone doesn't think about I've never actually met an endpoint that you can't deauth
The easiest way to explore someones Network is by far, to Socially Engineer or look at, if you can, the targets Router Manufacturer & Model. A shocking number of Consumer Routers are still set to Factory Defaults because Home Users are often too lazy or ignorant to change them. Many of these Factory Default Settings can be easily looked up on a search engine. The door is often left wide open.
The catch is that MOST people don't know this
@@cdub5033its the laziness/ignorance but also the lack of knowledge that pushes consumers away from changing router settings, whether that be a fear of "breaking" the router or the manufacturer has failed to properly inform them about how to place such security measures independently

I used to do this on my Nokia N900.
It was amazing how lax people were with their wifi security but it did score me several years of free wifi in both Australia and Japan.
I also encouraged my friends to harden their wifi security. They always said they didn't care if someone used their wifi, until I mentioned people can use it to access the type of material that lands people in prison. They changed their mind VERY quickly.

Fantastic video! Basically put reams of network pen testing knowledge into one, concise video relevant enough for the average person. Just in terms of the prevention side of this... WPA3 would basically render (almost?) any attempt of a deauth attack (at least, in the ways I know of) to work. I could be wrong however. Would you update the prevention methods you mentioned 2 years after uploading this video?
Correct, wpa3 patches this, the problem is that 99% of people tend to use the shitty chinese 4$ router that their isp sends them which as far as ive seen never supports wpa3

This is why I don’t use actual words for passwords. I just type in a long string of random numbers, letters, special characters (if allowed) and don’t even try and remember it, just save it somewhere secure, or for website logins just let the browser remember it and use the forgot password link if you ever need to change it. Make the password reasonably long and random and it’s effectively unguessable.
exactly, over 10 chars is hard to crack with a gpu bruteforce as long as its not in a wordlist
No one does so this method is useless 99% of the time

Use something reasonably secure and move on. If your internet gets hacked, change your password and report it to your ISP and you won’t face any charges or consequences for whatever happens. Not an issue
If it’s your bank account where you’re only really accessing it on 1-2 devices max anyway, sure do a very good factor with 2FA. Your wifi isn’t important enough to warrant all this security
It is always so funny to me that when people look up how to hack they are like “ok how hard can it be” and when the videos get to the real part of “hacking” most people give up 😹 I see this all the time being an IT student, most people think it’s as simple as a button but real hacking includes the use of multiple software and application platforms, low level manipulation, etc.

Planning, building, and implanting software to hack a network or host or watever is not as easy as it seems, like I’m ngl I’m not a programmer and I only know basic Perl scripting but I’m doing forensics right now and I can tell u that sometimes, imaging, decrypting, hex editing can be a pain in the ass, a lot of times it’s the sheer size of the content that I have to view and decide wat is worth looking at and wat isn’t

I actually 👍 did this in 2018, but at that time there were no tutorials so I had to read long threads for every smallest problem I faced during the process. I am from mechanical ⚒️ engineering background, so even basic issues were serious for me. I succeeded 🎉 in like 2 months and hacked 4-5 networks and got fed up for my laptop being slow to run password list 📚 combinations.

The password doesn't need to be long, just add two special characters like the German 'ä' and slavic 'ć', or even better, a cyrillic letter like 'ж'.
Example pass: MikeäHoustonж'
Because password lists are language sensitive, you wan't find much mixing of different languages.

A college student myself is able to watch UA-cam and play video games all day connecting to other students wifi or the school
It was certainly fun until i got caught i was too careless sharing it with friends
I explained how i did it (didn't said who really thought me and that was you) The school acknowledged what i did because, i learned more in the IT course by just borrowing books from the library or talking to some students (the borrowing books was a lie)
A lot of students were mad at me and even the school wifi hasn't been on for weeks because they had to change the password and make it more secure and can only be connected to specific devices such as school computers and teachers cellphones and other electronics... Again like they have to manually connect it again...
It was fun while it lasted, i got suspended for a week 😂

How to get remotely into a bank safe, "For educational purposes only"😎
(hopefully) useful information:
This won't work with WPA3 networks, and some other auth types.
This can be made to work with meshes, but be aware: deauthing a device will likely make it connect to a different AP you're not monitoring. Either monitor multiple at once, or predict which one it will connect to and monitor that, if possible. Might take a few tries.
This can work with 5ghz but you need to set some extra flags, check the documentation and/or man pages. Be aware that deauthing can cause the target to connect to 2.4ghz instead if available. It'll also help if you know your target channel in advance, cause scanning all 5ghz channels with airodump takes some time and has significant delay.
6ghz (wifi 6e) support exists but is a bit finicky, check the documentation. You might have to manually supply the frequency instead of channels.
If your attack fails, try several wordlists, not just rockyou.txt. But if they all fail, you can try a bruteforce with aircrack or hashcat (better). But honestly, don't bother. You won't find the password in time. Though if you have more information about your target you might be able to generate a custom word list with possible passwords.
Yep! Had a few people mention that wpa3 patches it, but since people tend to use the cheapest Chinese router that comes included in their Internet plan it's virtually unpatched
