Hi I found your channel as I just bought a new Fluval flex 57l. I agree re the filtration on these but I am thinking of modifying it slightly using mechanical in the first compartment then loading bio max in the second and then pump heater and floss in the final one. The Eheim looks good for maybe 125l. I have a Fluval Roma 125 running with the Hagen Marina CF80, it’s been great. Ultra quiet, spray bar and pimped by the pond guru guy years ago. Full cycle, awesome. Interesting to see your flex mods and love your fish and shrimp set ups. Also great tip re the Argos cabinet! Subbed. 😀
Why thank you i love the flex but found i never got happy over the filter compartments and now i have removed all of it including the baffle it runs a fluval "U" series filter which i have had Betta ,shrimp and even frogs in its even better
I have been using eco pro 200 last a five years with mech pro in lower bucket and substrate pro in upper bucket and thin white sponge above it for polishing .eco pro 200 is very good with mechanical and bio filter and i wash it in duration of every six months .though eheim say flow rate is 600 lit/hour but in reality it is only 350 lit .in a planted aquarium of 40 lits capacity is very low and debri often accumulates very quickly. Though there is no death of fish never occur till now but eco pro 300 would have been very best with 750lit/hr for my aquarium
Hi Alan, loved the video. Do you think this would work okay on my fluval edge 46l if I turned the output flow rate down. I need a new filter and pump and I’m loath to replace the same again as it’s really inconvenient and expensive to run.
Yes it will the ecco pro is a great external filter and set up properly will last ,on that tank at least two months before the flow slows to needing a service
Hello Alan, I found your channel while researching the Tetro 105L Aquarium and love what you have done with yours. As a complete beginner to this hobby I plan to buy this tank but from watching your videos realise you have changed the filters out quite a few times. I realise the filter which comes with the tank is unlikely to be good enough taking into account your comments on always halving the maximum suggested litres for the size of tank. As someone who has 40 years experience and have tested quite a few filters on this tank I am hoping you might be able to recommend suitable filters for my tank. Looking forward to learning more about this hobby. Kind regards, Tracey
Welcome to the hobby Tracey ,now to be honest the kit that comes with it is ok and will get you by i changed mine to get more fish in the tank so really depends on your needs i would assume you will be "cycling" the tank and want a variety of fish so to future proof it the fluval U3 is perfect and can get the cartridges cheap here www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Compatible-Fluval-U3-Polycarbon-Filter-Cartridges-Carbon-Foam-Fish-Tank-Filter/351348648879 an Aquael ultra 150 heater which has a built in thermometer as an upgrade too
@@AQUAGUYUK Thank you so much for taking the time to reply and providing me with some suggestions for filter and heater. I didn't consider the Fluval U3 and had been looking at the EHEIM biopower as I notice you had one of these at some point too. I also notice you have an extra sponge filter - is this necessary? Would a small Eheim Pick-up be useful alongside the main filter? I assume from your reply the more fish you have in the tank the more filtration you need? I have also learned from your channel that plants remove ammonia - have I picked this up correctly? Thanks again and take care
@@traceya8699 Indeed some fish produce more waste so keeping a tank healthy is all about balance get your self a water test kit this will get your tank ready for fish remember that to cycle a tank you need ammonia source as fuel Dr timms is good for this apply four drops per gallon as for filtration i stopped using the Eheim due to having more fish and needing extra bio media the fluval is great for that too i also run a sponge filter this is for shrimp mainly but also a way of seeding or cycling new tanks fast not as mentioned ammonia as fuel and add something like fluval's cycle this will kick start the cycle
@@traceya8699 Anytime i find this a very rewarding hobby and yes it can take time to find the balance but once found its nature in your living room ,,,,,,wait for the turtles
Honestly this was second hand ,the seller said it was running for 2 years ,,,,its silent with no leaks i would say if you guy second hand get a seal kit
i had two issues one was pipes had to much silt or much in them second no water in filter to start also add water to your filter after cleaning or on initial start but not had issues for 6 years
I've got the Classic and some Pickups but that filter looks great. Love the priming function.
Its actually i very good filter i prefer simplistic systems and this is very simple
Why thank you will head over to yours sir
You’re giving us some great ideas for our pond guys we’re probably gonna need something like this for it!!!!
😀😀👍👍

Be careful not to force the arm i had one fail
Great video i love your format no unboxing or stats just show us what it does
Thanks! Will do!
Pond guru did a good "pimp my filter" on this filter
Indeed but to be fair every filter should be set up the same e.g. mechanical biological and chemical in that order of flow

Thanks Alan much appreciated
Flow looks super
Really impressed that's the filter full of media plus course and medium sponges

These do brake, the bracket break and i know many that broke it including myself. Its a fail. Cant even find spare parts for it where i live.
Shame but i guess we all need to share our experiences but never had an issue
Fine in the top causes all the fine dirt to clogg your media
Indeed thats why i use two normally one in the bottom above the medium foam one in the top
I bet these are reliable they look really good

I did prime 50 times but nope anybody knows why?

I have a the Fluval 207 but I prefer the pipe work on that Eheim. Looks a good filter.
I found that the fluval a little noisy and the aquastop valve tends to gush water momentarily where this seems great
