    MAGNIFICENT!!!!! I've had 13 for over 4 years now but only ever learned a few basic functions and stopped using it for over 2 years. I'm now making gaming vids for UA-cam and have forced myself to get a bit more in depth. I learned a LOT from this one vid. In fact, I'm going to have to watch it again and take notes. Then I'll move on to your subsequent vids (I assume you have some!!!!). Thanks from Saint Louis, Missouri, USA, during the Covid-19 pandemic.

    One of the best tutorials I've ever seen -- clear, not too fast or slow, not too advanced or too dumbed-down -- I learned a LOT. Great job. Thanks!!

    This is an incredibly complicated and difficult program, but your video is really appreciated. It's going to require many many viewings of it. Thank you for all your hard work on this tutorial, Zen.

    Excellent video!! Thank you for taking the time to do this video for novices like me. I just got the program yesterday and after watching this video I feel like I've got a good foundation. I watched some of the shorter "beginner" videos from other UA-camrs but they were not nearly as helpful as yours because you rightly assumed that the viewer knew nothing and you took your time. By the time I was midway through the video I paused and subscribed because I knew I had stumbled onto the right channel. Can't wait to view your other tutorials!

    thank you so much for the awesome video. I've been using Vegas for about 6 years and you just showed me some important stuff that will save me a lot of time. for example, double clicking to put points on an audio event so I can decrease/increase the volume within the track. using "D" to switch between tool s.
    ripple is awesome, that's gonna save me years. I've been moving split clips one at a time, sometimes 50 split clips when I think I'm finished and find a gap at the beginning of the project.thank you so much,
    Matt

    Hey man this helped me a lot. I have 2 questions
    is there a way to glue clips together?
    and can I make the video brighter so I can see better with dark footage?
    Thanks!!

    • @MovieStudioZen
      @MovieStudioZen  7 років тому

      1. Gluing clips together is what "rendering" is for - that is the whole point of video editing. You edit your videos and then render a new video from all the pieces, which turns it into a new video.
      2. In the Video FX tab is Brightness & Contrast - apply this effect and increase the brightness.

    Great Tutorials... I have just moved to Sony Movie Studio Platinum 13 from Pinnacle to try and reduce the issues that I was having with Studio 17 so I have a lot of learning to catch up with the different was Sony does things... So loads of thanks to you for making the transition a little more painless... Keep up the great work you are doing. I really appreciate the time you must have to put in to make these available. Cheers.

    Is this like a simplified version of Sony Vegas? I've been using the Sony Vegas free trial and I absolutely love it. I don't mind the complexity of it. Would you recommend this program to a moderate user? Is it a very simple type of editor or can it be a moderate to advance? because I checked the price for it and it's not NEARLY as bad as Sony Vegas' price and it looks like it gets the job done just as good as Sony Vegas does.

    So grateful for your help! My son bought this months ago and I couldn't figure it out, so I continued using the UA-cam editor. That also took a lot for me to figure out and now that it's going away, I feel like I really have to use this one. I tried moving clips around and it made them overlap. So annoyed I can't figure out that stuff on my own, so I'm sure I'll be watching this video repeatedly. Thank you! :-D Liked and subscribed.

      Ana Martins Olá Ana, Acabei desistindo de tentar aprender o Movie Studio Platinium. Quando a Corel lançou a nova versão, o VideoStudio Pro X7 Ultimate, acabei comprando e fiquei satisfeito com os novos recursos. Eu recomendaria você buscar aqui no UA-cam por Video aulas relacionadas ao seu Movie Studio Platinium ou até mesmo tentar no Mercado Livre, pois lá vai encontrar video aulas também. Espero ter ajudado. Abs. Telmo.

    • @telmogama
      @telmogama 9 років тому

      Ana Martins Olá Ana, bem, prá mim que já usei e uso o Corel deste a versão X3, X4, X5, X6 e o X7, me sinto bem familiarizado com o interface desse editor e o acho bem fácil e prático para trabalhar com ele. Lembrando que nunca fiz nenhum curso quando começei a usar o Corel. Começei assistindo vários tutoriais desde a época do X3 e fui aprendendo pouco a pouco. Não fiz a atualização para o X8 porque essa última versão não aceita instalar alguns plugins da NewblueFx que comprei desde a versão X4. Sendo assim, para o que eu uso, me satisfaz a versão X7 Ultimate. Antes de comprar seria bom você assisitir vários videos tutoriais básicos, e tem bastante aqui no youtube, ou também baixar o demo para testar e tentar aprender. Se você se adaptar vai poder usufruir desse editor Corel. Experimente.

      Movie Studio Platinum comes with a separate program called DVD Architect, which is a proper DVD and Blu-ray disc authoring program. I would suggest you look at the newer Vegas Movie Studio 14 Platinum, which comes with the pro version of DVD Architect now! Yes it is better than Nero.
      v14 is 25% off at the moment.
      You need Platinum or Suite version to get DVD Architect:

      +Movie Studio Zen I just started to look at my movie studio plat and I'm already frustrated. I was just looking at the different media generator options under the advanced setting. I'm not sure what I clicked on. I thought I was clicking on a little picture from that area. A little area popped up and I quickly x it out. Now there's no media generation option under advanced. The area with pictures of different clouds or colored page option for example. It's gone. Is there a way to restore it? I quickly clicked undo at the time and it didn't fix it.

    I have a question:
    Let's say I want to upgrade from Sony Vegas 7 to Sony Movie Studio 13, but in the possible event that I upgrade from Windows 7 (which I'm currently using) to Windows 10 in the future. Which is a better installation option? Installation by Disc, or Installation by Download?
    i.e. - Which variation of installation should I go with if I ever had to re-install the program onto another computer?

    • @MovieStudioZen
      @MovieStudioZen  8 років тому

      I haven't bought a physical copy of a program for many years. Download versions of Movie Studio are identical to disc versions. You can save the Installation File and use it more than once to install on different computers.
      I do not recommend Movie Studio 13, because it is too basic and cannot be customised. You should get Movie Studio Platinum 13 or Movie Studio Suite 13. You can buy at discounted upgrade price via this link by entering your Vegas 7 serial number.

    • @Goji73
      @Goji73 8 років тому

      Thanks for answering! Though I think I'll buy it without upgrading Vegas 7 since my copy of Vegas is actually pirated and I'd rather getting something a little more "legitimate" that's affordable.
      Also is Movie Studio Platinum an actual version of the same program, or is it just a bundle/package deal? I'd rather get just the software rather than it and a bunch of extra stuff that I don't see myself using.

    • @MovieStudioZen
      @MovieStudioZen  8 років тому

      Movie Studio Platinum is a different program to Movie Studio 13.
      Movie Studio versions are completely different to Vegas Pro versions.
      I have plenty of reviews and articles about this on YT and my website.

    Hey, really good video. I just wanted to say that I think it's great you actually take the time to reply to people's comments and answer their questions. I just watched this, and I may have missed it, I am pretty ADD, but did you mention how to separate audio from video tracks? Like say, if I wanted to take a piece of audio from one clip and place it over another.

    At minute 21 I did what you said and when I double click everything turns blue and the dots don't appear like yours. :( What did I forget to do? Again, thank you for answering my questions. I'm going step by step trying to learn this software. I have the very basics down but I want to learn how to use all of the features. I know it will take some practice but it gets frustrating when I follow directions and it doesn't work. I'm sure I must have to click or unclick something to get it to work. I really would LOVE to be able to lower or higher the music or audio volume up and down like that. That woud give me so much mroe control. Thank you :) Melody

    I've been using this software for about a month or so. I am getting the hand of it BUT on occassion when I add media (video) it is "green" and I can't see myself to edit. I can hear the volume. For example, today I just played Runescape with my son and used Scrreencast-o-matic to screen capture. It looks good on my computer file. It is recorded in MP4. I tried adding this file to edit it into Sony and as I said...I can't see us....the screen is green and only our voices and the music from Runescape. How can I fix this? Thank you.

      ***** Thank you so much. I appreciate your help. Screencast-o-matic put it into an .mp4 format... but like you said, maybe they added something to it. I paid $15 to use it for the year because the free version would not record the audio on the video game I was playing :( Is OBS free? I wish I would have known this first before I paid the $15. I will check out OBS. Hopefully, I wont have this problem wtih them. Thank you!

    Hello, I have 2 questions please. Before I purchased Movie Studio I was taking videos in the portrait mode. Now that I have movie studio I realized I should have been filming in landscape. Is there anyway to adjust these videos so they play in landscape? The second question is I have one video that filmed very dark. Is there anyway in movie studio to make this video lighter? I have only had this program for 2 or 3 days so I have not been able to do all the tutorials yet but these are very special videos to me. I am now watching The Beginners Guide How to and it has already taught me so much. Thank you for your help.

    Hey, Derek! Found your excellent tutorial for Movie Studio 13 Platinum. I just got my software a week or so ago and wasn't really getting too much out of the tutorials included with the software. So glad I found your tutorials. I'm watching it slowly and constantly pausing it so that I can go into my software and replicate what your are demonstrating or teaching. So far, so good! Thanks for the great infomration and your engaging presentational style! Love it! One quick question for you that you may or may not be able to answer. I record HD video with a Panasonic video camera that records in .mt2s files. By experimenting with my converter software and importing some sample video clips into the editing software and then uploading them to UA-cam, I have found (I think!) that to get the best results, I need to convert those .mt2s files to .mpeg files and then import the .mpeg files into Movie Studio 13. Then, once finished editing, I used Moive Studio 13 and saved the .mpeg files as .mp4 files before uploading them to UA-cam. Any thoughts on that? If you address this issue later on in one of your tutorial vids, just let me know and I'll go find it. I'm still working my way through this introductory tutorial video of yours at the moment.

      STOP doing what you have just described!!!!
      Converting your video files that many times, is a terrible idea and will cause quality loss.
      You should be importing and editing with the original files from your camera and rendering once to Mainconcept AVC/AAC.

    • @AbandonedMines11
      @AbandonedMines11 7 років тому

      Derek, I looked around in the Movie Studio Platinum software and saw where it showed how to import my .mt2s files (which are AVCHD files, I guess) into the software directly from my camera. I don't understand what you meant when you said "render once to Mainconcept AVC/ACC." Is that a separate program I need to run my edited .mt2s files through once I'm done editing them in Movie Studio Platinum?

    • @AbandonedMines11
      @AbandonedMines11 7 років тому

      Derek, I did some more looking around in Movie Studio 13 Platinum and found how to render my .mt2s files to Mainconcept AVC/ACC as you suggested. I uploaded a test clip to UA-cam and it looks okay. My older desktop computer's video card has a problem playing the video in 1080p (always have had this problem), but it has no problems playing it in 720p. Being that more and more views are coming from mobile devices rather than desktops, I'm not too worried about this aspect anyway. The clip looked great on my mobile device. Can you give me any tips or hints on the process I just described? I'm glad that I no longer have to reformat the .mt2s files to .mpeg files and then save as .mp4 files. You're right -- doing those three steps degrades the quality of the video. Let me know if there is anything else I should be aware of. Thanks!

      "Can you give me any tips or hints on the process I just described?"
      Do you have a specific question?
      I do have a tutorial that shows how to render a video, but it sounds like you already know what to do now. Everything you need to know is my tutorials - I never skip any important steps.

    Hi, Zen! I'm done with my project editing and ready to "make a movie" out of this, the format I'm trying to get my video on is HD DVD, from the Render option which one should I use? I want to make sure that my DVD plays on any device thou. Thank you in advance.

    • @MovieStudioZen
      @MovieStudioZen  7 років тому

      HD video is not supported on DVD.
      DVD only supports Standard Definition video.
      If you want to burn full HD video to disc, you need to burn a Blu-ray disc instead.

    Does Movie Studio 13 also come with the Masking tool as well?

    • @MovieStudioZen
      @MovieStudioZen  6 років тому

      Movie Studio versions do not come with masking tool.
      If you can't afford Vegas Pro 16, I recommend the free Hitfilm Express, which does come with a masking tool.

      To give you a good idea of what I'm looking for, I'm currently using Sony Vegas 7 on my Windows 7, and I'm looking to upgrade for my gaming laptop's Windows 10. I'm looking for a program that has a masking tool, and can make multiple video and audio layers like Vegas. I've considered getting the Adobe CC, but after hearing that all the addons for it (After Effects in particular) need to be paid for individually AND monthly as well, that's what's making me avoid it.
      Do you have any good recommendations? Preferably no higher than $150. I'm willing to get a lesser version of Vegas Pro as well (as long as it's at a decent price...)

    Hello. You're videos are very helpful. Thank you.
    I have a question tho. The MS13 suite or platinum states it comes with Hitfilm plug-ins.
    I can't seem to find more information on this. Hitfilm has stand alone software. Is the plug-in for MS13 the same as the stand alone software?
    Can you please provide more information on Hitfilm for MS13? How does it work and can it do what the stand alone Hitfilm can?
    Thank you.
