It's not clear in Scripture if Jesus was a Nazarite or not. If He was, having long hair was a requirement - they were prohibited from cutting their hair and their beards. John the Baptist was a Nazarite - he had long hair.

Victoria Cabrera The 2 Scriptures I put there show that. He was a Nazarene but He had to choose to become a Nazarite and follow their laws. He broke 2 - He drank wine and He had contact with the dead. Being a Nazarite and keeping their vows had nothing to do with the town of Nazareth, they are entirely different.. If people would look at there Bibles they would find it is clear. They just need to look at Numbers chapter 6.

Jesus was not a Nazirite because CLEARLY He drank wine and that was even His first miracle. He calling to serve God was unique (He was the Christ) and was for purpose, to reconcile the relationship between God and man.

@@rickichristian5603 nope. Your wrong. Jesus never sinned (i.e. never made a mistake in life) and the Bible clearly says that breaking a vow or promise or your word is sinful/foolish. (Ecle 5:4-6, Deut 23:21-23)

I think you're bordering on pharisaical legalism here. I just want to know---how short is "short enough"? How long is "too long"? My hair is down to my shoulders and my wife thinks my hair is short! If we're going to let culture dictate what constitutes "long hair", we have no photographs of Christians in the bible to compare it to, so what does it matter what "culture" calls short hair? Culture could call "white walls" short hair and if you grow your hair to your ears---well, you're living in sin and you better repent, mister!

JESUS had long hair like a lion

  • @alexshatner3907
    @alexshatner3907 Рік тому +1

NO, Jesus did not have long hair, and neither was the son of God puny, skinny, weak, short, homeless looking, dirty, etcetera, Jesus was a perfect man, son of the all mighty God. The movies depict Jesus with a very awful appearance, even when in the preach work, how disgusting. ● Features: Jesus was a Jew and likely inherited common Semitic traits from his mother. (Hebrews 7:14) It is unlikely that his features were especially distinctive. On one occasion he was able to travel in secret from Galilee to Jerusalem without being recognized. (John 7:10, 11) And he apparently did not stand out even among his closest disciples. Recall that Judas Iscariot had to identify Jesus to the armed crowd that arrested him.-Matthew 26:47-49.
    ● Hair length: It is unlikely that Jesus’ hair was long, because the Bible says that “long hair is a dishonor to a man.”-1 Corinthians 11:14.
    ● Beard: Jesus wore a beard. He followed Jewish law, which prohibited adult males from ‘disfiguring the edges of their beard.’ (Leviticus 19:27; Galatians 4:4) Also, the Bible mentions Jesus’ beard in a prophecy about his suffering.-Isaiah 50:6.
    ● Body: All indications are that Jesus was physically robust. During his ministry, he traveled many miles. (Matthew 9:35) He cleansed the Jewish temple twice, overturning the tables of money changers, and once drove out livestock with a whip. (Luke 19:45, 46; John 2:14, 15) McClintock and Strong’s Cyclopedia states: “The whole evangelical narrative indicates [Jesus’] sound and vigorous bodily health.”-Volume IV, page 884.
    ● Facial expressions: Jesus was warm and compassionate, and his facial expressions no doubt reflected this. (Matthew 11:28, 29) People of all sorts sought him out for comfort and help. (Luke 5:12, 13; 7:37, 38) Even children felt at ease in his presence.-Matthew 19:13-15; Mark 9:35-37.
    Misconceptions about Jesus’ appearance
Misconception: Some argue that Jesus must have been of African descent because the book of Revelation compares his hair to wool and his feet to “burnished bronze.”-Revelation 1:14, 15, The New Jerusalem Bible.
Fact: The book of Revelation is presented “in signs.” (Revelation 1:1) The description of Jesus’ hair and feet uses symbolic language to illustrate Jesus’ qualities after his resurrection, not to describe his physical appearance when he was on earth. In saying that Jesus’ “head and his hair were white as white wool, as snow,” Revelation 1:14 uses color, not texture, as a point of comparison. This represents his wisdom due to age. (Revelation 3:14) This verse is not comparing the texture of Jesus’ hair to that of wool any more than it is comparing the texture of his hair to that of snow.
Jesus’ feet looked “like fine copper when glowing in a furnace.” (Revelation 1:15) Also, his face was “like the sun when it shines at its brightest.” (Revelation 1:16) Since no race has skin color matching these descriptions, this vision must be symbolic, showing the resurrected Jesus as the one “who dwells in unapproachable light.”-1 Timothy 6:16.
Misconception: Jesus was weak and frail.
Fact: Jesus was manly in his behavior. For example, he boldly identified himself to the armed crowd that came to arrest him. (John 18:4-8) Jesus must also have been physically strong to have worked as a carpenter using manual tools.-Mark 6:3.
Why, then, did Jesus need help to carry his torture stake? And why did he die before the others executed with him died? (Luke 23:26; John 19:31-33) Just prior to Jesus’ execution, his body was seriously weakened. He had been up all night, in part because of emotional agony. (Luke 22:42-44) During the night the Jews had mistreated him, and the next morning the Romans had tortured him. (Matthew 26:67, 68; John 19:1-3) Such factors likely hastened his death.
Misconception: Jesus was always somber, melancholy.
Fact: Jesus perfectly reflected the qualities of his heavenly Father, Jehovah, whom the Bible describes as “the happy God.” (1 Timothy 1:11; John 14:9) In fact, Jesus taught others how to be happy. (Matthew 5:3-9; Luke 11:28) These facts indicate that Jesus often reflected happiness in his facial expressions.

I dont know how tall Jesus is, but many speculate that the average height in that area was shorter than today. And if Jesus was significantly taller than all the other men, Judas would've likely said that.. but no, Judas had to physically go up to Jesus.

What if the Antichrist is already here, and he's deceived Christians all over the world to believe, that he is yet to come? Luther, Calvin, they all agreed on who the Antichrist was: The Papacy. It fits the description of Daniel 2, 7, 8 and 11 and of Revelation 13.
Because that's really embarrassing, the Catholic Church had to find a solution. And although the reformers like Calvin and Luther believed in historicism, that Daniel and Revelation are running parallel and describe the full time from Babylon until the return of Jesus, nowadays, most protestants believe, that the book of Daniel ends at the time of Antiochus Epiphanes in 164 BC and then has a massive gap of over 2000 years until the 2nd coming of Christ, and that the whole book of Revelation still lies in the future.
Another problem is, that the Churches take the symbolism literally. But when the Pharaoh had the dream of the 7 fat and 7 skinny cows, Joseph didn't say "Your dream means, that there will be 7 skinny cows, that eat 7 fat cows", he said, "there will be 7 years of good harvest and then there will be a famine for 7 years." But when Revelation says, that there will be 2 fire breathing prophets, or that a woman will receive wings of an eagle, or that a beast will force everyone to accept a mark on their hand or forehead, it is interpreted almost literally by most churches. The only Church, that teaches an interpretation of prophecy, that makes sense, is the SeventhDayAdventist Church. And they didn't make it up, they just kept holding onto the light, that Luther and Calvin had - although they disagree with them on many other aspects - and they didn't throw away the light in favor of an interpretation, that makes way less sense.

Only the Sith speak in absolutes. Samson, Absalon, John the Baptist just off the top of my head described as having long hair. Jesus was even confused with John the Baptist whose hair....Jews of that era would not have gone out of their way to look like their Roman oppressors or have have had access to a barber shop on every corner. Even Judah had to kiss Jesus so that soldiers would know who to take away. It is unlikely he had hair past his shoulder as a carpenter, but even more unlikely he had Roman style length hair. If you want to quote Corinthians and using nature, well, the Bible calls Christ the Lion of Judah and the male lion in nature has long hair.

Martin Luthers translation is different. The Question mark is in vers 15.. is says "...and the woman an honor,* if she have long hair*? The hair is given to her as a blanket."
It is a question. A woman with short hair is as honerable as a woman with long hair. The same is right for men who grow their hair long. (would you commit adultery if your wife would lose her hair?) The bible says also several times, dont care about clothing (Luke12:23). In verse 13 it says" 13 *Judge in yourselves*: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered?"
    In Matthew 6:25...
"Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?"
Jesus probably walked naked like Adam in the garden of Eden ! It is better to walk naked, because *the body is more than clothing* ! In Romans 5:14 it says, that Jesus will look just like Adam. Adam didnt wear clothing and didnt cut his hair, when he lived in paradise.

I have no firm idea, but I suspect that this description may be speaking more symbolically than literally. But still you make a good point, especially with the garment down to the foot. I think the Pharisees were being criticized for wanting to wear a garment they had not *the right* to wear, not that there was a problem with long robes.

1 Cor 11:14 (your reading comprehension is poor buddy) says that NATURE not God, says it is unnatural to have long hair. God says in Numbers 6 that long hair on men is reserved for a Nazirite vow (think Samson). Lets be clear Natrue is NOT God. It is a creation of God. But i do agree with you that Jesus had short hair. All jewish men have short hair with a specific cut. Especially if you are a Rabbi, which Jesus clearly was (resd Mark & John). So Jesus clearly had short hair with a FULL beard and most likely Peyot as well.

Jesus had long hair and it was not because he followed any law of man made understanding.... at the cross he made a comment that he had saved all that was given to him and not one was lost! What was that that was given to him from the father? Understanding of scripture. Many before him did not understand and became lost in their own version of its message, lost in understanding. Jesus lived according to the scripture and taught it to those who had ears to hear and eyes to see its true roots, where as trying to change the harden hearts was a waste of time, for time was running out for them, hence the war that would change their world forever.

I agree the depictions of Jesus are way off. But as for the robe issue, he was talking about ppl who DESIRE to wear long robes because of pride. We know from Isaiah that the train of his robe was so long that it filled the temple. That may not be how he walked around during his ministry but the robe thing is sort of not so black and white. I also would like to say to please be aware of your tone while you speak in videos. It is coming off as almost sarcastic or just not very loving my brother 💜🙏🏽

Guys, all of this is so out of context it is laughable.
In the time that Paul wrote these words, the long hair he was condemning had more to do with the effeminacy of the greeks, not fashion. (Which is why you see it in a letter to Corinth)
It helps to look at the historic record for context: What we consider “long hair” today would be hair to the shoulders. In those days, according to Middle Eastern art, carvings and Egyptian paintings, Jewish Men wore their hair to their shoulders and it was considered “short.” An effeminate styling of one’s hair would extend down to their waists. (As was the fashion for women at the time) In other words, when Paul was writing this, the picture of this Jesus’ hair would be an appropriate length for men.
Secondly, They’re talking about making graven images to WORSHIP. Why else would they (the Israelites) be commanded to look at the image of the serpent to be healed from their affliction? Why, in a few chapters later, would they be commanded by God to make the Ark of the Covenant, decorated with the Mercy Seat and two winged Cherubim? How do you know he had a buzz-cut, when every Christian nomination since 1st century, especially Orthodoxy portrays him as having a long hair. You are right and every church is wrong?? What an arrogance. Also, learn about Abgar of Edessa, Jesus had a long hair.

So the Bible doesn't say what short hair means for Men only says that long hair for women gives her glory.
So there's no benefit to having short hair on Men just that long hair is shameful on a man. Doesn't make sense to me. If God didn't want men to have long hair then why Male humans are able to grow out their hair. This is why God created women with the ability to get pregnant and give birth but God didn't give that ability to men. So Men who have long hair do it because they can naturally grow it this is one of the natural abilities God gave to both sexes.

Paul was addressing the Corinthians in the famous "haircut chapter"---Chapter 11 of 1 Corinthians. He wasn't addressing Jews. Greco-Romans had short hair as a long time custom---Jews didn't. There was no Roman guard in Jerusalem seeing Jesus walking down the street and ordering him to go to the first century Roman barber shop!

Jesus did not have long hair as apostle Paul said in. A.Corinthians 11:14-15
14 Does not even nature itself teach you, that if a man have long hair, it is an insult to him? 15 But if a woman have long hair, it is to her glory. for his hair is given to him for a covering:
Why do we grow old and die?
GOD did not want humans to die. Our first parents, Adam and Eve, were created with a perfect mind and body. They could still be alive today. This is clear from what God said to Adam about a tree growing in the garden of Eden.
God said to Adam: “The day you eat [from the tree] you will surely die.” - Genesis 2:17. This command would have been meaningless if Adam had been created to grow old and die. Adam knew that if he did not eat from that tree, he would not die.
GOD'S PURPOSE WAS NOT THAT PEOPLE DIE.
God said to Adam: "Eat your bread with the sweat of your brow until you return to the ground from where you were taken. for you were dust and you will become dust. ”- Genesis 3: 17-19. As a result, “all the days of Adam's life were nine hundred and thirty years and he died.” - Genesis 5: 5. Adam did not go to heaven or hell. Or live in a spiritual realm.
    What is the Resurrection?
    The Bible's answer
In the Bible, the Greek word translated "resurrection" means "to stand" or "to restore." The resurrected person is resurrected from the dead and is the same person who was before. - 1 Corinthians 15:12, 13.
It is true that the word "resurrection" is not found in the Hebrew Scriptures, which are known as the Old Testament, but the promise of resurrection is there. For example, through the prophet Hosea, God promised: “I will rescue them from the hand of the grave, and I will rescue them from death.” - Hosea 13:14; Job 14: 13-15; Isaiah 26:19; Daniel 12: 2, 13.
Where will people be resurrected? Some people will be resurrected to live in heaven. There they will reign with Jesus Christ. - 2 Corinthians 5: 1; Revelation 5: 9, 10. The Bible calls this resurrection "the first resurrection" and the word "first" makes it clear that there will be another resurrection. - Revelation 20: 6. That other resurrection will be for the living on earth, and most of the dead will be resurrected in this way. - Psalm 37:29.
How are the dead raised? God gave Jesus the power to resurrect the dead. - John 11:25. Jesus will bring to life “all those in the memorial tombs,” each with his own personality, attributes, and memories. - John 5:28, 29. Some will be resurrected to live in heaven, while others will be resurrected to live on earth with perfect and healthy bodies. - Isaiah 33:24; 35: 5, 6. 1 Corinthians 15: 42-44, 50
They multiply priests and saints with sad faces pile up, perform miracles, cast out demons. But Jesus said, The tree is known by its fruit.
    THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO MATTHEW
    7: 21-23:
21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and did many miracles in your name?' 23 Then i will tell them plainly that I did not know you at all. Get away from me, you workers of iniquity.
    Matthew 7: 15-20
15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. 16 By their fruits ye shall know them. Do they gather grapes from thorns or figs from thistles? 17 So every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; and an evil tree bringeth forth evil fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. 19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. 20 Ye shall know them by their fruits.
    B. LETTER TO CORINTHIANS (Paul)
    11: 13-15:
13 For such are the apostles, liars, deceitful workers, impersonating the apostles of Christ. 14 And it is not surprising. because Satan also takes the form of a bright angel. 15 Wherefore, it is not a great thing that his ministers should be likened unto the ministers of righteousness. Their end will be in proportion to their deeds.
4: 4. In whom is the god of this world?
(Satan) blinded the minds of the unbelievers, that the light of the glory of the gospel of Christ might not shine upon them, which is the image of God.
Eternal life is a free gift from God. The eternal punishment is not righteousness because how many years can a person live at most? Here, eternal punishment means eternal death. God is Love!
    Bible answers
    Ecclesiastes 3:19,20
19 for there is an outcome for humans and an outcome for animals, they all have the same outcome. As the one dies, so the other dies, and they all have but one life. So man has no superiority over animals, for everything is futile. 20 All are going to the same place. They all come from the dust, and they all are returning to the dust.
    John 3:13
13 Moreover, no man has ascended into heaven, but the one who descended from heaven, the Son of man.
    John 5:28,29
28 Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice 29 and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, and those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgment.
    Psalm 37:29
29 The righteous will possess the earth, And they will live forever on it!
    it's clear
    A. LETTER TO TIMOTHY 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men,the man Christ Jesus!
    Mattew 24:36
36 “Concerning that day and hour nobody knows, neither the angels of the heavens nor the Son, but only the Father.
    Mattew 23:8-10
8 But be not ye called teachers. for one is your Teacher, even Christ. 9 You are all brothers. And call no man father (Spiritual all leader etc.)upon the earth. for one is Father, which is in heaven.10 And be not ye called masters. for one is your Master, even Christ...

"There appeared in these our days a man, of the Jewish Nation, of great virtue, named Yeshua [Jesus], who is yet living among us, and of the Gentiles is accepted for a Prophet of truth, but His own disciples call Him the Son of God- He raiseth the dead and cureth all manner of diseases. A man of stature somewhat tall, and comely, with very reverent countenance, such as the beholders may both love and fear, his hair of (the colour of) the chestnut, full ripe, plain to His ears, whence downwards it is more orient and curling and wavering about His shoulders...

His forehead plain and very delicate; His face without spot or wrinkle, beautified with a lovely red; His nose and mouth so formed as nothing can be reprehended; His beard thickish, in colour like His hair, not very long, but forked; His look innocent and mature; His eyes grey, clear, and quick- In reproving hypocrisy He is terrible; in admonishing, courteous and fair spoken; pleasant in conversation, mixed with gravity. It cannot be remembered that any have seen Him Laugh, but many have seen Him Weep. In proportion of body, most excellent; His hands and arms delicate to behold. In speaking, very temperate, modest, and wise. A man, for His singular beauty, surpassing the children of men"

+Rick Johnson the point is that it doesn't matter. If God wanted man to know what Christ looks like He would give us an accurate description. If God wanted us to know what day he was born he would've told us. Everyone knows he wasn't born on December 25th. Does that stop us from celebrating the season and the true meaning? This is worldliness. Things that don't matter. Just because something doesn't exist in the Bible doesn't make it false. Do we doubt Cesar existed? Do we doubt what he looked like or what he said even though some writings don't appear for hundreds of years after his death? No… Furthermore this is how people probably lived back in those days. I doubt regular haircuts with something that Christ concerned himself with. Having long hair and beard's was simply a matter of convenience like washing their feet. Why is our image of John the Baptist, always a dirty scruffy haired Woodstock hippie looking kind a guy? Does it matter? I'm a subscriber for a reason Rick.

"In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." (John 1:1) "And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us..." (John 1:14) The Word is Jesus. He was also the Lamb, slain from the foundation of the world. (Rev 13:8) The Spirit of God inspired the Scriptures. Jesus knew what was contained in them before He came to the earth. He knew what was said about long hair so He would not have long hair. It would make Him a liar and a hypocrite which is sin. Jesus sins and He forfeits His throne to the father of lies. Don't forget, Jesus said, Before Abraham was I AM. He is eternal and was Son of God and Son of man on earth. So as Son of God, He abided by the whole word of God.
