When you make a ring hollow in wax, do you ever add a wax cover/sleeve/backing (with holes or fretwork of course) to the hollow underside of the shank before casting or do you do it after casting? I hope this was clear 😅

PJ Chen Jewelry Design Sorry 😓 I'll try explain another way. You know the ring shank (where your finger goes through) is sometimes hollow on top to save metal cost and sometimes it's also still hollow but covered with a strip of metal so it's more comfortable for the finger when you wear the ring? Do you ever cast the hollow wax model in metal and then add the metal plate with solder later, or do you make the inside cover in wax and cast it all together?
I hope it's more clear. It's hard to explain without diagrams.
