Whenever a new video starts, UA-cam, Disney+, HBO Max, or if things have been paused for awhile, my sound will start at 0 and slowly fade in. It is driving me nuts and I can't find a setting anywhere for this. It happens in Edge or Chrome, so it doesn't appear to be a browser setting. Any ideas?
Turning off audio enhancements fixed this for me. In the trouble shooter click the option "Yes, Open Audio Enhancements", switch to the "advanced" tab, uncheck "Enable audio enhancement"
And what to do when clicking the speaker with an "x" (unmute) does nothing???
I dug so deep in the control panel & system, turns out the simple solution was just to plug and unplug an earphone jack. Thanks dude!

Windows update did the trick for me. Thank you for making this video. I wasn't able to hear audio on any browser and just assumed that my computer might be fucked until I played a video that wasn't on any browser and heard sound. I don't really understand what happened there.

I got only my right speaker works. I plug them into my phone and they both work. Windows 11 shows nothing wrong and the balance is correct. It just will only play sound from right speaker. Ive done all in video and still no sound from left speaker.

My issue is that the audio will randomly auto mute and then will not allow me to unmute it. Have to keep restarting the computer in order to get it working. This is on an msi content m16...any would be much appreciated! Thanks:)

My Sound mixer is not seeking, it's always either muted or playing at max despite the number being 25% or 60%. This only affects my external speaker, the volume mixer works on headphones. How can I solve this? I don't want to reset my whole computer :(

But how do you fix the audio problem where you can hear sounds normally in browsers and video and music players, but when you launch any game, all the sounds will be disabled? Even the music player that plays music in the background will be silenced. Sometimes, on rare occasions, with good luck, the sounds might work in games. I rather use graphics card as my sound card (AMD HD Audio via HDMI) because the Realtek onboard audio causes lag and hit registration problems in games but this audio issue makes it difficult.
Have the same problem, it is driving me crazy.
@@2001Susanna I am currently working out the problem with AMD support. Hopefully they will find a solution. The problem is complicated... when I do a cmos reset, the game sounds work for a while, but then when I start the game later, the sounds disappear again. When I set the games to windowed fullscreen mode, then the audio works fine. I found a lot of discussion about this problem and since it is also found on Intel systems, the cause of the problem is most likely in Windows. Strange though that on UA-cam or any video player the problem doesn't occur even when playing videos in fullscreen mode. Only games cause it, at least on my PC.
@@2001Susanna I just found out what causes my audio problem. It's the game's resolution. If it differs from the native resolution of the screen, it somehow gets conflicted with the graphics card drivers. This doesn't happen if I use the motherboard's onboard audio but if I use the graphics card also as a sound card, then the problem occurs. I'd like to set the games to 1440p resolution to get 120hz refreshrate on a smart TV. Otherwise it's 60hz and that causes mouse lag and other inconvinient issues.
Bro changing the output fixed it thank you so much, it was switched to my Oculus headphones? and not my real headphones and I didn't even realise lmao. I just got this computer and it's windows 11 and I was so confused.

I didnt get to the end, but found where my problem was. I have sound comping in from an external source, and I kept thinking it was the Output which was the problem... How wrong was I?! The external source is a TV, and comes into the mic jack on the soundcard. After a bit of a crash, things reset, so I have just spent most of the evening trying to suss out why the sound was not coming through from the external. Go to System / Sound / More sound settings. Go to the Recording tab and select where the mic jack is plugged in, double click it for Microphone Properties, go to the Listen tab, and make sure the Listen to device is ticked. If you have an external mic, then make sure that is ticked as well.
mine says "no audio devices are installed", for both input and output :(

I literally got this computer 2 days ago and had been stressing that I'd managed to break it, all I needed to do was roll back the driver lol
The problem is that I factory reset my laptop and I know it's muted but I can't unmute it because it can't find an audio imput and output for it. I have tried every single solution I came across but nothing seems to work.

downgraded to windows 10 , a lot of problems was happening, volume keeps lowering itself and volume box stuck at middle bottom of screen

Try going to System>Sound>Volume Mixer where it says "Apps" click reset . See if that helps

all i did was upgrade from windows 10 to 11. the second windows 11 started my beautiful 5.1 surround sound was gone. back to 2 speakers and low volume. i downgraded back to win 10 and my sound was back??????? anyone have a clue what thats about? and please dont say turn up the volume thats just ridiculous.
If this reset doesn't work, then I'm calling BS on this video. I seriously don't know why some Tubers with no integrity tend to profit from bad information with ads. But more serious, If it works, thumbs up. But if it doesn't, then you know what I'm trying to say. Update: Reset didn't do jack shit! You know what that means, right?

this worked for me cuz my sound card wasn't even showing up.
1. go to device manager
2. click on sounds and game controllers
3. then go to actions at the top and install legacy devices. (you have to know what kind of sound card you have though "Dell=realtek Toshiba=atheros etc "
4. if it works you can then start working on repairing the driver's.
I tried everything and my sound still doesn't work, it shows clearly that the audio is "alright" and working properly, but outside the speakers and headphones aren't doing anything :(
