I love it! SO satisfying!! My mom taught me the no mercy rule when I was young and for a while I used to try to be the nicer mom but I am now coming around back to my mom's mentality.... When in doubt, THROW IT OUT 😁 What helps me is controlling what comes in to the house in the first place, as far as toys etc. Creates less clutter to Declutter.
Amen! For us we get a lot of hand me downs! -- and what gets us is garage sales - whenever we go we give the kids a budget of $10 and they come home with a truck full of toys!! Tell me how. haha!
The kids in our house get an allowance so instead of asking us for toys all the time it you can buy with your money and all of sudden that $30 toy with a million pieces is put back on the shelf because they don’t really want it that much when you make $2 a week buying a $20 toy is 10 weeks to wait to get another one

I used to love that show, as I was little I dreamed of living in a house full of my family, Well Fast Forward years later. 23 yrs old, i live with my Mom & Dad, AND Sister andd my hubby. now I just wanna move out n be on my own. Lol. Dreams stayed the same but people change n grow. But in a good way.
A couple of months ago I halved the contents of my daughter's room. Got tried of her room being a mess. I had threatened her with halving it so often and finally followed it through. I just got bin bags and dumped boxes of stuff in it and donated them. She now keeps it tidy herself which has made me very happy.
I have to do this every couple of months in my daughters room. I try to make her a part of some of it to show her what excess is and why it is good to donate, but kids are kids and she is a hoarder lol. A great place for stuffed animals is a local animal shelter (I’ve learned many donation places won’t take them). Also we use the toy kitchen as a storage. So there are little bins inside with the toy food, but then we also keep a toy register, potato head, and some trucks inside. We don’t have a play room so this helps keep the room clean.

( I hope you know I’m joking because of what you said at the beginning of the video) i’m a grandma of four beautiful granddaughters all close in age all young in between play kitchen Barbie baby dolls and American girl type girls always end up doing is looking at little things. Sometimes it’s hard to tell if The dog clothes go with what dolls. I’m getting ready to head into the girls playroom to do some major decluttering. @thewads you should make busy bins for puzzles, crafts, crayons, markers..... I have two carts for our bins. I use it after dinner or during the day when I need to accomplish things. I get a basket and grab a few things and set the kids down for a bit. They are occupied and I can get done what I need to get done. I also have two zippered pouches that travel with us to restaurants.
When I do toy purge my number one rule is I do it when the kids aren't around and I swear I've never had them say "mom where is this or that" so clearly they have so much they don't miss anything! And I remember wanting that hair wrap thing soooooooo bad at adventure island when I was young!
I did the kids' toys last month. We reduced the amount of toys by 60%!!! Things are going sooo much better! I have slowly over time taken the excess stuffed animals that are in near perfect condition and gave them as gifts to moms who had a baby when I brought them a postpartum meal. Score!

I’m a child and my parents work full time so I have to do everything independently. For me, my closet/room (mainly my closet) is the messy spot. I just need to reorganize my amg or doll stuff and I just need it gone. As well as drawers, that too... anyway, thank you for this lol. It was really helpful

So it's probably too late, but with toys that you want to keep for future children but are too young, you could get a storage bin and put them in there. That way you don't have to repurchase the expensive wooden toys put they don't contribute to the crazy.
