    Otis is like, "Hey dad, can I help you!" lol Sure is sticking close...sign of a great bond...and maybe even wanting to get in on a picture of two! lol Happy to hear you are well on the road of recovery. Take great care now and have a wonderful week! Bruce and Otis

      Thanks a lot Bruce. Yeah, it's really good that he doesn't wander too far. Certainly makes the filming easier. He's having his first trim soon, and then it might be time for some portraits! Thanks for watching. 😊

    Glad you are feeling better mate and back at it! Crazy how it affects people differently. JoAnna is going on two months of it now and is still struggling every day. Glad this isn't the case with you! The Canon AE-1 has a similar circular focusing system, although this one seems a bit easier to tell if you are in focus or not. Really looking forward to seeing how the images turn out! Otis is sure getting big, his paws are huge! Take it easy mate, glad to see you out and about!

      Well I may have spoken too soon. As I was saying to Dave, just a day after filming this video I was back in bed with fever, shivers, sweats - the full works. I'm on antibiotics now, and the fever has come down, but even though I've been negative for nearly a week, I've still got a cough and feel very rough. I hope JoAnna will feel better soon, 2 months must feel like forever. The fucussing bit in the video is something I created. It's fairly accurate, but not exact. I was focussing at infinity most of the time anyway, will be interesting to see how the shots turn out. Thanks for watching Paul. 😊

      @@Robert-Bishop sorry to hear you still aren't well Robert. Yes, it has been incredibly frustrating for JoAnna to go on so long. I surely hope this isn't your experience. Rest up, take your meds, and feel better soon my friend.

    Great to see out and about again mate. That's one interesting focusing system on the film camera. I wonder if in twenty years from now people will be doing the same videos with old DSLR cameras haha. I don't have the patience for film, too much fapping around lol. Great video mate.

      If I had to predict the future of cameras, I'd say they're going to start incorporating more AI and computational photography features. I think focussing systems will become more and more automatic, predicting what the user is wanting to focus on. It all depends on how good the tech is though, I suppose. Thanks for watching mate - hoping to get out more as soon as poss. 😊

    I bet that focussing system was heralded as 'the future' back in the early 80's....how times and tech change. Be interested to hear how that exposure compensation works, if that is what it is; being that the shutter and aperture are set and the iso level is determined by the film, interesting what it might be that it affects. Haha, much like Andrew, I saw the first shot and thought wow, then clocked the caption 😄 Glad to hear you're back to full health mate

    • @Robert-Bishop
      @Robert-Bishop  2 роки тому

      I managed to download a manual online and it is exposure compensation. Although it just says that adjusting it alters the shutter speed by 1 or 2 exposure factors, so I'm not sure how much of a benefit it is over just changing the shutter speed! I'm very interested to see if any of the Praktica shots came out - probably should have gone out in bright light to start with. Also, the Covid came back for another go! Only a day after this video was recorded, I was back in bed with fever. All very annoying and getting boring quickly, so I'll stop rabbiting on about it. Just plodding on for now! Thanks for watching mate.

    Welcome back to the world of film photography Robert. At first I thought that first image was great - then the caption revealed it was the Z7! I doubt the Praktica and kodak gold is going to worry your Nikon 😄 It usually takes me around 3 weeks to turn round a film vlog as like you I don't develop my own film. If you haven't sent them off already get scans rather than prints as you'll want to edit them anyway. Getting prints done is like putting your camera in Auto and jpeg format - the results are someone else's decision. Looking forward to seeing the results in a future video.

      Cheers Andrew. Like I said in the video, I was very rushed that evening, so I'm not holding out too much hope for the Praktica shots! Good tip with the scans, I'll bear that in mind, cheers. 👍

    I must get some film for my one. I have an old L2 but the it’s got some issues. Would be interesting to see that the images come out like. But yeah the camera really takes ya back to the basics.

      Yeah, it's a nice refreshing change. No idea what they'll turn out like, but I enjoyed the process of taking the shots! Thanks for watching mate. 😊

    Hi! Such a nice video, great job! 👏 I have the same camera that I sent to a lab to be fixed. I'm currently shooting with a Nikon F3, but now that my Praktica is ready, I'd love to try it. However, I think I'm having some problems with the light meter. I still didn't put any roll inside, but wether I point to a light spot or a dark one, the led in the light meter is always on "UNDER" exposed. Do you know what it could be? 🙏

    • @Robert-Bishop
      @Robert-Bishop  Рік тому

      Thanks Nadia. I believe the meter lights only work when you have the shutter speed dial set to automatic. If you have between 8 and 40s selected, then the 'under' light will be permanently lit. Hopefully that helps?

    • @harrylor66
      @harrylor66 4 місяці тому

      If the “under” LED is permanently lit in “automatic mode”, then the light meter is broken.
      The program automatic no longer receives any exposure values. You can continue to use the camera in manual mode with an external light meter (or a smartphone app), or you can have the defect repaired.

    Hi mate, glad to see your feeling better and able to get back out again, i would hate being indoors for ten days . Interesting subject the whole digital and film comparison so interested to see how the film develops and how you found the whole process. I had a Practica yeas ago , cant for the life of me remember the model but it was my first DSLR. Trueprint was the lab of choice back then as you always got your prints and a free roll of film . Looking forward to seeing the results , take care mate.

      Thanks Lee - it's coming and going with feeling better or not. I'm trying to get out as much as poss though. I'm going to take Andrea Walton's advice and get scans done, I think. Will be able to polish them up a bit then (hopefully!). Cheers for watching mate. 😊
