GM did the same with the Chevy Cruze, equinox, and GMC Terrain. They didn't advertise them. Our local dealer didn't even know they existed until I told him about the diesel engine options on those cars.
I drove the Escalade Diesel for about a month and loved it, even with diesel prices being a little higher in some areas, the savings mpg wise still makes total sense. The diesel is quiet, torquey and sensible. I’m going to order mine next month.
I had a 2013 Silverado dually, pulled a 16000 5th wheel didn't know it was behind you. I pulled next to a new Silverado diesel, I had to roll down my window to listen to it when he took off, yep diesel. GM makes some the quietest diesel out there.
This is an extremely quiet diesel and you really have to pay attention to notice. More of a whirring type of sound. No clatter like before, and very very smooth being an inline 6
They are not selling because of how much it costs. Car companies needs to stop thinking everyone in the United States is rich. And have money to blow on high priced vehicles. Most of these cost more then most homes. It shouldn't be like that.
In my opinion, people really don’t want a modern diesel because of highly complex emissions systems that like to fail. The emissions systems especially hate city traffic and like to clog up the DPF.
I truly enjoy the way you make this review videos. I just have one tiny suggestion. When you are talking about a feature can you point the camera towards it and put it in the video? Like, here in this video, when you talked about the 3rd row vents. The way you described it painted the perfect picture about the vents position. But with the footage and your voice description, it would be more helpful for a viewer. That's all. This is more of a knit picking. Keep up the good work man, cheers.
The Diesel engine it’s using is known to be fairly reliable, a duramax 3.0L 6 cylinder turbocharged. It’s in the Silverado and sierra as well I believe.
I got a used one last week here in Vegas. Absolutely phenomenal drive. There’s a lot of demand for it, but it’s hard to get in US since they are exporting most of the diesels.
I live in Asia and drive an SUV with a 3 liter deisel. The fuel efficiency is incredible and I don't understand why deisel engines never became popular 🤔
I have a 2023 escalade esv diesel, I get between 730 to 780 miles on a full tank here in Arizona, and it's been a while the diesel is actually cheaper here by almost a dollar, I just love it.
Good to hear. Diesel was also the same or cheaper than regular (never mind 93) in Washington State when I lived there, and also very cheap where I live now (Japan). People go on and on about the high cost of diesel, but I honestly don't think they realize that in a lot of the country, that's not true at all.
Never understood how Germany tries to pretend the GLS and X7 can remotely be a competitor to this. This segment is much more impressive. They just have glorified crossovers.
@@baronvonjo1929 and the Camaro isn't an icon? I'm talking specifically about the diesel option here. No one's going to buy it. No one even knew it existed until this video.
@Wigletron I would definitely say the Escalde is more iconic. The Camero seemed to come back with the Transformer movies but as those died off so did most average hype for the Camero. At least that's how it looks like. And I didn't really realize you were talking about a engine.
@@baronvonjo1929 the Escalade is more iconic if you were born after 2000. GM will ax the Camaro, realize they completely gave up a share of the market and bring it back just like they did before. GM never learns.
This is how every modern luxury car should still be, i absolutely love how there are buttons absolutely everywhere you look, it makes the vehicle feel loaded to the brim with features. I prefer it over a just a screen and maybe a row of climate control features. 10/10.
My next used vehicle! But be sure to get the one with the LZ0 motor, it's the updated version of the Duramax and the belt will not need replacing until 200K miles. If the 8th digit of the VIN is an 8, it's the LZ0. If its a "T" then it's the LM2
I have a 24 gmc sierra diesel and love it. The inline 6 is buttery smooth and very quiet. Im averaging 23 in mixed driving and usually tickling 30 in the highway. Recent GM quality in vehicles ive owned has been outstanding. There are fuel apps that let you find fuel almost as low as gasoline too. Thoroughly excellent vehicles.
My late grandfather's last Cadillac was a (new at the time) diesel Cadillac Seville or a Deville. My grandmother told me that it was so bad that he got rid of it after a few months. He never bought another Cadillac again. I'd love to drive a diesel Seville/Deville and a new Escalade Diesel and just drive them. I'm currently on my second Cadillac (2019 Cadillac XT5 Luxury AWD; traded a 2014 Cadillac XTS Luxury AWD for it). I've gotten my Cadillac XT5 (which has a 3.6L V6) up to 43.2MPG during a roadtrip from NY to California. If i can get mine to that usually impossible number, I'm confident that the new Escalade Diesel can get 40-50MPG (if cruise control is set to at least 65-70MPH/104-112KPH and pretty much no hard braking most of the way, which is how I achieved the MPG figure for my Cadillac XT5).
You get better MPG but the fuel costs significantly more so the benefit isn't really there. Modern diesels can't run biodiesel. Cool idea, limited usefulness. I can't wait to see one of these rolling coal.
Also to add it’s only environmental reason because we can see it how dirty it burn but over all pollutants are less than gasoline and diesel stores more nervy than gas
@@chriscastor2206diesel prices here in Nova Scotia were as high as $2.40 a litre last year. In Ontario it was $2.60 at its highest. Currently it’s between $2.13 and $2.20 a litre. On a roughly 80 litre tank, that’s $172 Canadian to fill it up or all the way up to $200. That is how much I spend a month for my Mazda CX5. I’m not spending more than that on a vehicle for monthly gas.
How reliable is it? Because the other engines available have lifter issues, carbon buildup issues and transmission issues. So is this diesel just as unreliable?
These and the other new diesel GM full-size SUVs like Suburban and Yukon are becoming so hard to find at dealerships it’s not even funny. They have the promote these more. These should be more common, really they make more sense than the 8 cylinder model for MPG imo. Even if diesel prices are overwhelming.

This will be popular outside USA ❤
Except for the Middle East (where gas is cheap and land is vast), the Escalade is too big for most markets.

that engine and vehicle is a gem nice review zach!
I bet its weird hearing the diesel engine sound coming out an escalade 😂
no, not really.. barely notice it! it's not the 6.6 powerplant, this 3.0. is a little milder but still a hauler. we operate it around the clock ; )
I'd rather hear diesel than cRap!

wow i wouldve had no idea there was a diesel option. i doubt the dealers promote it much either
That’s the problem.
None of them promote the diesels. It sucks honestly, because it makes them harder to find and get.
@brianeugeneleedoesn't matter how you pronounce it
Thanks Great Video
Escalade American luxury with a disel reliability longevity
They should make it a hybrid. We’re talking 1000 miles plus range.
Diesel’s are making a comeback?
Hey I really liked your video!
This diesel will probably last a lot longer than the gas one.
Cool
but I does it have AM radio unlike those woke Fords?
😂

Dieselgate ruined diesels forever in this country.
The diesel gets zero gas mileage
Stop saying ‘super’
Seriously buddy.
Your overuse of the word “super” is weird.

Bring this to overseas markets and see how popular diesels are out of the US...would be fantastic in Africa and Australia
Diesel price varies so much more than gas plus they are bad on repairs, it is easy for me to see why no one buys them
I'd totally own one of those.
That torque down low in the Rev range makes the diesel engine worth it.
