I installed the inferno heater kit and let me tell you it is a big job. I think this Yamaha might even be more work. But either way you go plan on spending a whole day putting this bastard in. Good news is that it did work out well and I have full heat. Expect to be cutting radiator lines and a lot more.
Regarding the dash vents, the portion that the hose hooks up to is unscrewed from the vent and the dash is sandwiched between the vent and the hose adapter. The part that goes on the inside of the dash is the part that goes on the back side of the dash and the louvered portion goes into the dash from the front. Not sure if that makes sense but the 2.5" hole works fine if installed properly.
I just installed this same heater and at about 8 minutes on your video. The area that you route your coolant lines causes some issues when you reinstall the floor board. The cooling lines need to be routed under the seat support bar and the. Out through the center console. Just something I ran into.
I have the heater kit in my X4 with the cab enclosure, at idle it gets warm inside. I was having issues with it staying warm while riding in below freezing Temps so I restricted some of the radiator with a piece of aluminum plate and it stays much warmer now temp stays in 180 to 190 range and blows decent Heat. The fan kicks on at 206 degrees so it should be all good have not had a problem with it yet but it is still new and I'm still testing hope this helps. I have just about every option on my machine
Thanks for the info. Yea I have a plate in front of my radiator also but I still hover around 140-160 so something else is wrong I think. Maybe thermostat stuck open or the dealer installed the heater wrong. I'm going to use this video to verify they hooked it all up correctly.
David Christie I just installed one of these kits yesterday at work and I had the same problem and could either be air in the lines or a kinked/twisted hose.
Have you had any issues with lack of heat from your heater system? I have the same machine with hard cab and heater, my heater barely gets warm even after a good hard ride.
