    Nice clean efficient plant, but I've had waxed apples where the wax ruined the taste of the apple. Apples are better when they are au naturelle.

      Most apples don't go from the orchard to the grocery store. The apples you are eating today were harvested last Fall (Aug/Sept) - they store them in Controlled atmosphere rooms where they can keep for 12 months or more (depending on the variety)

    It cracks me up what people say about the processes that our food goes through. If these apples were not put through this process they would go bad after a short time, because of this process they can last for over a year. Hurray for feeding the world!
    I'd rather eat apples that have a slight taste difference than not eat any at all.

    They wash the apples with chemicals and then put chemical wax on the apples. No wonder apples today taste like chemical shit.

    • @marcushartmann7519
      @marcushartmann7519 8 років тому +2

      No "chemical" wax. Its a food grade, edible wax. The stickers are food grade and safe for consumption as well.

      Sorry, but I buy my apples from farmers markets and they taste like REAL apples. That plants apples taste like shit because what they do to the apples is in no way natural.

    Why put wax on apple? How does a consumer remove the wax? Do they wash off? I think I have been eating your wax for years. Yuck.

    • @nemock
      @nemock 9 років тому +2

      sfbluestar That's a good question, and there's no need for concern. It's not like candle wax, or something odd like that. It makes the apple look shiny, which people like and it helps them to last longer, which is a good thing, right? You can wash it off and personally I usually wash my produce, but not because I don't the wax, but because I watch kids in groceries stores wipe their noses with their hands and then touch the produce bins.
