Hi Ray, if you read 1 Kings 3:10-13; it is not speaking of the gift of the word of wisdom given by the HOLY SPIRIT, but rather having an understanding heart to judge different matters and the wisdom speaks about King Solomon being able to handle crucial affairs of life in a fair and skillful manner (NKJ).

I'm a bit confused on this topic. Do I have to drive my car to a church building and sing along with them to be a part of the Body of Christ? I have been to many church buildings and haven't met a preacher who I feel is a holy man of God. I went to one where they did lay hands on us for the blessing. The first 3 guys laid down on the floor, the ushers caught them. When he laid hands on me, nothing happened. I think I already had the spirit in me from previous events ..?? I had previously been baptized in water also. It left me wondering if the other 3 guys were faking it. Lester came from a different generation where you were expected to go to a church building to know God. I feel that Jesus ended the age of the priest. When He came off of the cross, He tore the veil to the temple in two. The veil was the gate that separated the Holy of Holies and only the high priest could pass through. They had to go through the priest. I feel that it is part of the New Covenant that we don't need to rely on some guy who took a paid job as a priest to talk to our Father. The stories in the book show Jesus going from town to town being challenged by the priest, saying that He was wrong and they were right. As it has been all through the story of the temple. One generation of good priests and then their sons go bad and defile the garments. I think that our father got tired of playing the game and ended the priesthood by making Jesus the last priest. He is now our priest sitting at the right hand of God. Another part of the new covenant is Jesus sending the holy spirit. Do I need to drive my car to a church building to receive the gifts of the spirit?
Troy F There arent any Priests I agree, but there are Pastors, Evangelists, Teachers, Prophets and Apostles as in Ephesians 4:11. You could receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit without being in a church, sure. We are commanded to "not forsake the assembling of ourselves together" as written in Hebrews 10:25

Prophesy works only for a body of believers - the Gifts of Tongues and the Interpretation of Tongues works mainly for the body of believers. Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to a body of believers in the upper room. There is power in the body of Christ. I can't do all things by myself, nor can anyone else. Nor could Jesus when he walked the earth as a man. That is why He trained, raised up disciples, and sent them out... because we are limited as individual. And that is why He sent Holy Spirit along with His gifts to empower the Church to be the BODY of Christ (where Jesus is the head). I don't read that you have to, but your gift is meant to be shared with others and not just oursleves, wouldn't you agree? As for the priesthood - Christians are "... a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession, that you (we) may declare the praises of him who called you (us) out of darkness into his wonderful light." And that is another reason we should desire God's gifts - to declare God's goodness, His power, His Love, His wisdom..... all that He is!

My beloved in Christ, yes drive your car or ride buses to a Church building, homes, stadiums wherever believers meet and to fellowship ( doing things in common in Christ) Read All of Acts 2 and see how the Church functioned and still does. For you to receive Christ you must be cut to the heart when the real Revelation of Christ sacrifice on Calvary is received in your spirit and not your mind. Your comments reveal that your knowledge of Christ our Savior is intellectual. On that day of Pentecost the church grew exponentially, from 120 in the upper room to 3,000. Acts 2:41 said the 3,000 gladly received Peter's word and were baptized. Acts 2:42 stated that they continued steadfastly in the Apostles doctrine and fellowship in breaking of bread and in prayers. Verses 44 and 45 stated that the believers were together and had all things in common, they sold their possessions and goods and divided them among all as any one has need. Verse 46 said that they continue to meet daily with one accord in the temple and breaking bread from house to house...and verse 47, they praised God (YAHWEH) and had favor with People and The Lord added to the Church daily those who are being saved. Phillip and Stephen were chosen among the believers as Deacons to minister to the needs of the Church and the were men like you filled with the gifts of the Holy Ghost. You are entitled to these same gifts by asking in prayer or go to Church believing and you will flow in the gifts of The Holy Ghost.
