  • Bhrigu Lake is rated as ‘moderate’. To give an overview, you start from Manali at an altitude of 6,725 ft and reach an altitude of 14,009 ft in a matter of 4 days. This means you steadily ascend to the lake. The relentless climb tests your endurance. This trek is good for fit first-time trekkers.
    There are other aspects too that raise the difficulty of the trek. In this video, Swathi Chatrapathy, Head of Digital Content at Indiahikes, takes you through the difficult sections of the trek.
    Watching this video mentally prepares you for the challenges of the Bhrigu Lake trek.

    Did this trek in last year June in one day.. started from Vasist and descended the same way back.. total elevation gain was 2100m.. but i don't understand why people take 2 to 3 days from Gulaba just for 1100m elevation. I would consider it as Significant from Vasist and moderate from Gulaba.

      but does gulaba have better views than vasisth, it would defeat the purpose of going through the latter

    I did this trek in June first week from Gulaba in 3 days and 2 nights out of which the third day was exclusively for birding while descending back. The ascent was steep on the first day going from 2900 to 3800m to Raoli Kholi base camp. There was six feet snow in some patches on further ascent from base camp to the lake which I covered in the morning on the second day. I could do some snow sliding as well due to the expanse of snow. It was a great experience to study and observe the flora and avian biodiversity as the whole place lies within the Manali National Park.

    Hey madam👋
    I’m planning to go trekking to Bhrigu Lake. I’m 27 years old, weight 93 kg, with height of 5.5 ft.
    My stamina level is decent; I play cricket and other outdoor sports regularly, and I also walk for 1 to 1.5 hours daily.
    However, I have doubts about whether my body and legs will be able to support me during the trek.
    Can you give me some advice?

    Hey swathi,
    I'm preparing for hampta pass trek in June ending, I'm walking (and running) a total of 5km in 45 minutes and also climbing 15 floors a day. Other than that I don't do any exercises. Will this be enough or should I add other workouts? Please please reply

    • @saloninankani8944
      @saloninankani8944 2 роки тому +4

      I did hampta pass last year.. it was surreal.. ♥️ you made a great choice..
      I didn't do any kind of exercise before that , I mean it when I say "any"..
      I did face some issues like being tired after walking for 30-40min but I managed somehow.. ( i was on a verge of breakdown one day because I was so tired and the weather decided to test me too by raining all along making it more hard) it all depends on the leader too.. I went with a company from my hometown .. the leader did not let me lose hope..
      So I would suggest you to focus on walking more than concentrating on how much time it takes you.
      If you can walk 10-12km in 2hours you're doing good.
      All the best 💞

      @@saloninankani8944 hey, thank you so much for the reply. I was really scared of the fitness level needed for the trek, but after reading your reply I feel that the trek is going to be great 👍. Hi Swara,
      What you’re doing right now is quite good. In addition to this, do a few core workouts and lower body exercises, like squats or planks. Try and reduce the 45 minutes to 40 minutes. That will help too. We hope you’re stretching well before and after your workout, to avoid any injuries!

      Hi Rachit :)
      Yes, this is a beautiful time to do The Bhrigu Lake Trek. Most of the snow on the trek has melted and the meadows around the lake also start emerging as you pass mid-July. But monsoons are at it’s peak so you can expect rainfall, but not enough to hamper your trek.

      Hi John, there are no treks that you can do in December in Manali. Manali tends to receive excess snow during winters and this makes trekking challenging.
      However, there are treks in Uttarakhand that you can do during winter season. You can check them out here - indiahikes.com/upcoming-treks

      Hi Divyansh, Feb or March is not the right time to do the Bhrigu lake trek. Excess of snow makes it difficult to navigate during this season.

    Is it advisable to go for Bhrigu Lake Trek during mid of August? In many articles I am reading at that time there are landslides due to heavy rain. And some other article says Aug is one of the best time to explore this. Wanted to know your thoughts. Is very heavy rain expected at that time?

    • @Indiahikes
      @Indiahikes  2 роки тому +4

      August is a very good time to do the trek, especially because this trek has a small window when it is accessible, between late June and late September. That's just about three months. Before and after that, there's too much snow, blocking off the trail.
      We've been doing this trek for 4-5 years in monsoon with no issues whatsoever.
      Having said that, it does rain. You will need to prepare mentally to trek through rain. But it doesn't rain all the time or something. It may rain on one day out of four. Depends a bit on your luck.
      On the other hand, landslides have not occurred anywhere on the trekking trail. They may occur on the road journey, but we haven't faced too many. If they occur, they are usually cleared out within hours and travel carries on. So you can go ahead and plan the trek in August. It's the greenest month to see this trek!

      Hi Abhishek
      This year (2022), due to the heat wave there are only a couple of small patches of snow left around Bhrigu Lake, so you don’t really have to worry about it. Another amazing alternative is Beas Kund, with its lush green meadows and flowers blooming all around. Most of our trek leaders have been raving about the greenery in the valley, and they have done the best of treks.
