Our kids 11 years walks to school in the morning from our house with his class mates. Just a regular backpack. And walks back in the afternoon to our house. Our oldest 15 cycles to school. No metal detectors, actually we never heard of school shootings in the Netherlands. I feel so sorry for you to deal with this and maybe sometimes worry when your childeren are at school. Glad we can give our kids some early freedom to enjoy.
I'm a mum from Cornwall, sw uk. This is heartbreaking to watch a mother prepare her baby, who not very old for a shooting.... Both training as if it's normal for eg like a fire drill. No mum should be sending her kids to school loaded with bullet proof bags etc. Thank god guns are not legal to own here but there have been a few shootings and drills when kids have had safety threatened in school. This week, 3 men with balaclavas broke into a school during a school day and everything went on lock down, thankfully they were not intending to harm anyone at all as it was just some fun to them.... Here in the uk thays unheard of but is becoming a very real reality. That day those kids and staff would have been terrified but the staff, regardless put the kids safety first.
That's freedom...well done.
Those kids grow up and then we have workplace breakroom shootings ps law abiding americans who work honest living not allowed to carry gun for protection. Enjoy your 15min and the haunting break room shooting statistics. Freedom for everyone not just vulnreble children. No one that sends unarmeed kid to a placce so dangerous that they and sometimes even the police wouldnt dare enter. that isnt freedom, its cowardice. Cowards need to have child custody striped from them. Not empowered.
I live in the UK so this is just not a thing here. When she said "mom will find you" my heart honestly sunk and I felt a lump in throat.
