@@grud. That's exactly it. A lot of us liked Kevin and we miss him, but we would still accept pretty much anyone without an annoying voice to give us some commentary about the abilities that are shown.
Personally I prefer seeing the old style "pre-Kevin" videos come back, feels more like a cinematic intro to the char than a generic "here's the abilities" video. If you wanna know what stuff does just wait for an MFPallytime first impressions video, he's 100x better than Kevin ever was anyway.

It actually seems to be the case, unfortunately. The HOTS team is at maybe half strength, if even that. I do think we're lucky to still get * any * updates at this point.
What I don't get is they got the voice actor to give a backstory. Could she not read off some lines about her talents and abilities as well?

it should work like; every time you press a button you get a randomly selected ability from any character in the game.. you could get 2 pyroblasts in a row, or you could get 'spawn murky egg' like 5 times in a row .. could be fun

@@yukanda3296 we can have D2 Druid as more of a Shapeshifter instead of elemental or summoning type. The same way Cassia (D2 Amazon) focused on Lightning spear build (because hots already has a ton of archers and using poison spear could overlap with Lunara)

Not sure if you knew this, but the lead dev of the HotS team has stated that some "hard hitting" heroes are coming along. I assume that means characters we know, hopefully including a certain Dragon Aspect. At the very least, Qhira is a filler. The interview went into detail about her creation, specifically wanting to try out a chainblade-focused character.

Not once does it go over any kind of talents either like the old more in-depth spotlights. I liked seeing the skills, but then giving a few examples of how they could be used with a rundown commentary of what's happening.

The choice of spamming voice lines as a replacement for Kevin really does NOT work honestly. Too spammy (consider finding someone else to give insight. Just cause kevin left doesn't mean you have to go voiceless!).
Also the idea of a Nexus based hero without even some genuine attempt at build-up lore-wise (as far as i know) and that is so incredibly obviously a Wakanda knockoff doesn't do the hero any favours. Honestly why not have gone the way like others point out and go Zandalar based? Seems like a missed opportunity if you ask me!

The last black character was Blaze, and he was added in January 2018. The last two human characters added were Orphea and Anduin, and they are white. Comparing 36 white heroes to five minority/dark skinned one (if you count Garrosh) then yes, SOOOOOOOOO diverse indeed!

To correct myself, the last four human characters added were white, adding Deckard and Whitemane to Anduin and Orphea. Just because her appearance is based on that of an African, it doesn't mean it is a forced diversity character.

You're not alone. WOW fans have been getting fed up with retail. Diablo....well we know how that went. Starcraft hasn't gotten any major news in years. HOTS had its staff and e sports gutted and left to slowly die. Hearthstone has been the same buy expensive cards game for years. As for overwatch I don't play it so I can't say much but I know its a SJW nightmare if anything non LGBT or minority based is added. The only thing going for blizzard atm "new" is classic wow and warcraft 3...which are just old games with new skins being released.

Thus far, all heroes follow the pattern of realm first, hero second. This includes Orphea, whose realm was established as a map as well as a number of event/skin and I think brawl for a very long time before she was added as a hero. And of course, none of the game realms have a singular character focus, but rather telling story of the world through the characters(as opposed to purely main character driven RPG). Heroes have been subservient to the realm.
The way this one was introduced, however, is along with the realm, which is a dangerous precedent to set. Because if this was accepted to be the new modus operandi, then the reality is that they can create whatever hero with whatever trumped up excuse of a background they want. That's not what the game have been about. Had they spent effort on establishing the realm lore first for at the very least a couple month via various events, skin, map etc, it won't be such a problem. The practical difference being that it would inherently limit the number of OC they can release as each is a deep commitment. And given that HotS was made to be homage to their other games, OC addition should be thus restricted.
As it were, if they introduced a hero of the xenoverse or kaijuverse or whatever, people probably would be far more accepting, as those are, in fact, fairly long established realms of the nexus. But nope, had to pull a nobody from nowhere, that's problematic in what it could lead to.
Fact of the matter is, this represents a potential shift in creative direction, at least as far as art and lore is concerned and that rarely goes well for an established player base. Just imagine, what would people feel if aliens were added to Diablo (or The Witcher) and elves suddenly enters the lore of starcraft (or age of empire)? I mean sure, they might be fun as a mod or scenario/arcade for laugh and giggles, but they would be out of place if they were to be considered canon. That is the problem, a breach of existing thematic, when thematic is as much part of the game as the game play.

Her goal is no help people, but she also kills people for money, which she hates, but she is one of the good guys, and all her voice-lines are basically her mocking her victims about how screwed they are. It's not better than Samuro's one. It's interruptable and does less dmg. Short stun is pretty meh.
No, thank you. There are plenty of other Blizzard characters I'd like. Heroes of the Storm is the Smash Brothers of Blizzard, for me. I don't play it for original characters, I play it to bang toys of my favorite people together. Here is a list of Blizzard characters I would've rather seen:

2. Sargeras
3. Prophet Velen or Archimonde
4. Tirion Fordring
5. Gabriel Tosh
6. Khadgar

Even so, Smash Brothers has a lot of guest characters. The only IP that could sustain a MOBA for a long time with a variety of characters is warcraft, but if all they do is put wow chars, then it would not be ideal to call it Heroes of the Storm. So blizzard needs this freedom, is good for the game.

In a recent interview discussing Qhira's creation, the lead dev stated some "hard hitting" heroes are coming along. We have to remember that some new members have joined the HotS team, and would you rather a famous and well loved character take the fall for any mistakes they make, or permit a single Nexus character to serve as an experiment to see if they can do a good job?

@@Damesanglante It's more than just gameplay. They have to make sure the heroes look good as well. Qhira is just a test run, and I have had a lot of fun playing as her, so I giver her a 10/10 on that regard. That means that I trust this team to make heroes we all know and love.

I may be wrong here...but I always thought one of the biggest appeals of HOTS was being able to play heroes from blizzard franchises. What's the point in making new heroes when you have all of blizzard's IPs to work with? Now HOTS is just competing directly with all other MOBA's on the market, which lets be honest, are a lot better.

Do you remember how Heroes are made? The process involves creating the concept for gameplay first, then applying a fitting hero to it. I cannot think of a character from the main universes that fight like this, so it gives them a chance to create something new.
They already have a ton of possible "Wakanda" characters they could add because Zandalar is basicaly a giant Wakanda/Jurrasic Park reference. Talanji would have been a great character if they are trying to check boxes.

Deathwing would be cool i wonder if it would be more balanced to leave him as a dragon or do the human form/dragon form switch up. Ysera is one of my favorite characters, but it could be awhile before we see her, since we already have 1 dragon aspect. Leah didnt really do much in Diablo in terms of showing her power off, I dont think she could make the cut. Bwonsambi ,Aria and Lady Vasjh would probably have the best chances of being seen.
