The RNLI is the charity that saves lives at sea. 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, lifeboat crews around the UK and Ireland are ready to launch to help those in need. Whether you're stuck on a sinking ship, cut off by a rapidly rising tide, or in the water and close to drowning, RNLI crew members will drop everything to come to your rescue. 95% of RNLI lifeboat crews and station staff are volunteers.
But it’s not just lifeboats. RNLI lifeguards patrol 248 beaches, keeping people safe, providing safety advice and rescuing those in trouble. Education volunteers visit schools and swimming clubs to help teach the next generation how to enjoy the water safely. And volunteer fundraisers and shop workers give up their time to generate vital funds. The RNLI is also working to help communities around the world that are most at risk of drowning.
If you spot someone in trouble in the water, call 999 or 112 and ask for the coastguard.

The designers, builders and support staff at Poole must be so proud to have been involved in the Trent Project. What a thing to have on your CV! It sure beats having the O Level French pinnacle of mine! 😉😄👍💪💪

Somehow knowing the Severn Class is out there makes me feel safer even miles inland… It just oozes competence at what it does.
Brilliant machine. Immense respect to the Severn class and her crews.

Hi Kieran, the prototype boat is currently undergoing sea trials through the remainder of this year and much of the first half of next year when we hope to complete the design of the SLEP boat.

@@rnli Can we get a ‘sneak peek’ video of how it’s going so far? The sea trials sound interesting!

We've been experiencing challenges sourcing supplies for the SLEP programme, down to a number of factors including post-pandemic, inflation, cost of living etc. Because of these challenges and the impact on the programme (becoming stop start), we've taken the difficult decision to pause the programme until we are in a position where there is readily source of part supplies, this means the prototype will continue its trials and pass out, and we will pause work on the boat currently in the ALC. Staff working on SLEP will move to Shannon production which will increase to 5 boats per year. We do have a video of what the programme will deliver: ua-cam.com/video/cdnwrQtSsuc/v-deo.htmlsi=U6okRr5PzIMRroH-
