Guests: Doug Aldrich, Reb Beach, Zakk Wylde, or Another show with both Pete Thorn and John Suhr would always be fun. It would be cool to see one of our guitar peers Alex King/ Rockin Chippy from Groomed Noodlers on the show because of his extensive amp and guitar collection.
Warren DeMartini blowing up a Fryette Powerstation made me smile.. I immediately said to myself, well that would be the guy.. 😂 As per the Peavey VTM amps. I played one for years. Loud as F.. Was a fun amp though. I really liked it. I bought one back in the day when I saw Kim Thayil using one at a show in Washington when I was living there. Monster tones. I regrettably sold it for a 5150 stack. Loved the 5150 but miss the VTM..
@@mbgmail5911 I agree. This show is about having fun and sharing information. I was being a little cheeky just from watching Dave’s body language. I have no insight.
I had a VTM 60 in the 80s/early 90s and it kicked so much ass!! It was so bulletproof that me (without knowing any better) used it as a preamp without hooking it up to a speaker cabinet/load, and it DIDN’T HURT IT!! That’s one of those I would love to have back along with the amp I traded it for (Fender 410 Super Reverb).
Marc and Dave I love the Ask Dave shows! I learn so much in each episode. Yes Marc being a lefty does suck but the selection has gotten better each year. Have you thought of having Scott Splawn on the show?I have his 100w Nitro head. It’s awesome.
David Bottrill would be a great interview for producers. In Montreal, our famous Marshall mod guy is Rick Onslow. Been doing it for years. He might be interested. Thanks guys! Have a good weekend :)
You gotta buy a lefty when you see it Marc. The extra incentive of, you may never see one again, is enough. Dave, I love my BE mini. I play it through a Barefaced 1x12 cab, it's go so much thump.
Thanks again Marc and Dave. Looks like I will get the Golden Pearl. You know my stuff, Marc. So the Pearl will give me just what I desire, with a touch of 'Friedman' LOL
I've got 250k pots with my stock JB in my Jag-Stang and the same with the Vintage white MJ wound JB in my Mustang. I like how it slightly rolls the top end off and makes the pickup all around just a tad bit less aggressive.
Should I get either a Fender Reissue '65 Deluxe Reverb, Dr. Z Maz 18, or Vintage Fender Blackface Bassman head? Just want a clean pedal platform. Do not gig or anything. Just jamming in my bedroom through my Fryette PS-2A into my interface with IR's silently or sometimes through my 4x12 (yeah. I know. It's overkill)
That golden perl pedal is just a make your amp sound good pedal, make your guitar sound right 👍 pedal. buy one B 4 you get pickups or more expensive amp. great boost pedal.
Also Dave I've got a couple of ideas for your pick up / pot comparison. You mentioned the no load tone pot, you could also use 500k pots and do the resistor trick (I've just installed it in a SH config Gordon smith Tele) and put the resistors on switches.
Name a gate and I have owned it including the Decimators it but the new Revv G8 works very well and best of all it leaves your tone alone. Note : it does not mess with your tone!
Another good candidate would be Alex Saraceno, the father of Blues Saraceno and the inventor of the Dirty Boy Amp. This could also be interesting, especially when it comes to the Dirty Boy Amp.
Dan Trudeau from ReVv would be great. Built a big market in less than 5 years. Obviously Nuno Bettencourt (I'm sure he's been mentioned) Ola England and how he built his business
Can't believe someone would turn down the offer to be on this show. Tone Talk has turned me on to brands and products I would never have otherwise considered, and in some cases it's just how cool of a person the guest seemed to be that got me to check out/buy their stuff.
To bad about Bray, he made the first Dead Nuts Van Halen tone amp I ever heard, he is a great 👍😃 guy and it would be a great show, get back to him with the NEW DRINKING FORMAT, and send him the booz of his choice for the show,, we can get these guy,, lol 😂😆
I have got the guest guys. You talk about Canadian royalty… let’s talk garnet or Peter Traynor. Have connections with yorkville sound in Toronto if need a start. As always JD
The Dr Z Z Wreck is basically an AC30 clone. The Liverpool that Pete T demo'd is a completely different circuit. It has an AC30 flavour to it but with a higher gain element.
I didn’t watch live but hopefully you see these Dave or Marc. Still hoping for Donn Landee!!! Terry Date, Joe Barresi or Butch Vig would also be very cool for producers. Adam D from Killswitch Engage would also be really fun! He’s a great producer and guitarist. Adam Jones and/or Justin Chancellor, Steph Carpenter, KK Downing, Nuno, Matt Bellamy, Billy Howerdel, Misha, Billy Gibbons…shall I go on? 🤣
To bad about Fortin amps,, he has done some of the most 😡 ANGRY 💢 amp tones in history!!! He is a great guy, a true pioneer amp hot rodder, and the tone speakers for it self, great set of ears on that guy. Ask him again under the NEW DRINKING 🍻 Format, with a BIG bottle of good booze,,,,,, we can get these guys on,, lol 😂😆
Should get as a guest speaker John Cruz who was Fender Guitars Master builder now doing his own thing now or get Carr amplifiers they are also doing nice things.
Just listening to the replay, but a guest suggestion could be Colleen Fazio of Fazio Electric. She has a YT channel. FWIW, I don't know anything about her since I just stumbled across her channel, but she is an amp repair tech and builds some amps (per her bio). She could possibly bring in some of the younger crowd and then expose some of her audience to the older crowd! BTW, I'm the older crowd! Also would love to know if Dave has an apprentice that he is passing along all his knowledge to keep the company going whenever he decides to retire!
Heij guys - love your show - thank you so much for all the great episodes - but today : shame on you - for not knowing Ronni Le Tekro ... cant believe it ! - TNT was/is active through all these years - great music - dig in - you might like it ! - killer guitar - get him in ! please ! most underrated ... in my top list ... thanx again ! cheers - Thomas J. / Berlin
Randall Smith is too busy stuffing some more relays and transistors and flat cables in a smaller chassis, trying to get another useless patent for no reason other than to inflate his ego,i'd pass gladly.
Marc, you're a great host. You get the job done, you don't over talk guests, and you keep the show moving!
Thanks so much Russel. It means a lot!
That Dave Friedman knows Ronni Le Tekro and places him correctly with TNT just made my day. And yeah, they are still around. What an amazing player.
I'm here!! Would like Jim Root as a guest. Ty
He would be great! He has a BE deluxe
@@michaelgiuffre7837 Heck yeah all we can do is ask tell they get Jim on.

I agree with all of this, especially about having Reb Beach and Alex King on.

Reinhold NEEDS to be on. It's crazy, well over 100 episodes and Reinhold has not been on!! Craziness or not....you guys need to get him on...PERIOD
it will be 🤣😧 crazy, but needs to be done 👍✅. I'm a Helios fan, but his Shiva is legionary
@@DANTHETUBEMAN Rivera needs to be on ASAP also
Who is that?
gotta get Bogner! come on dude.. as far as high gain he's one of the few on Dave's level. & an interesting guy : )
I get the impression that Reinhold and Dave may not be the chummiest with each other
I think their might be some bad blood
@@jahjah67 I don't know, I get the impression Dave is on good terms with most builders.
@@mbgmail5911 I agree. This show is about having fun and sharing information. I was being a little cheeky just from watching Dave’s body language. I have no insight.
For his work Bogner should be on this show, Amos before personalities.
I'd love to hear you talk to Jason Tong. I've been following his progress for a while.
James Lugo would be a cool guest. Reminisce about the old amp shootouts and his move to Nashville to open his recording studio.
The Marshall Origin amps are much cleaner than people expect. I agree with Dave, they are great for pedals.
Thanks Dave for mentioning the gigrig because that’s the one I want and if you hadn’t mentioned it it would have had me wondering..
Marc and Dave I love the Ask Dave shows! I learn so much in each episode. Yes Marc being a lefty does suck but the selection has gotten better each year. Have you thought of having Scott Splawn on the show?I have his 100w Nitro head. It’s awesome.
Thanks! Scott wasn’t interested in coming on. He makes cool amps
It'd be awesome to have Luka from RedSeven and Jason from Headfirst on!
Luka could be on for an 80s/90s rack special??
Yeah, Jason Tong would be cool. He’s been really helpful in the diy amp world.
David Bottrill would be a great interview for producers.
In Montreal, our famous Marshall mod guy is Rick Onslow. Been doing it for years. He might be interested.
Thanks guys! Have a good weekend :)
Please more George Lynch and Jeff Pilson! That was a lot of fun.

Great episode (as always), would love to see either Steve Carr or Greg Germino on the show. Make it happen!
Euge Valovirta, he has great youtube channel from Finland. He would be great on the show
Also top notch metal producers Jens Bogren from Bogren Digital and Kohle from Kohlekeller studio would be fantastic.
just DRINK 🍻🍷 till you go off air,, lol 😂😆 great new format. and play guitars 🎸🎶 after every question.
Thanks guys. Great show
Fred from /13 was mentioned... I would love to see that! Incredible amps!!

Lincoln Brewster would be an incredible guest.
Name a gate and I have owned it including the Decimators it but the new Revv G8 works very well and best of all it leaves your tone alone. Note : it does not mess with your tone!
My Joyo gate is my all ways on. It's 1 of 3 pedals i own but only use it. I had the behringer noise gate as well. Joyo is one knob.
Another good candidate would be Alex Saraceno, the father of Blues Saraceno and the inventor of the Dirty Boy Amp. This could also be interesting, especially when it comes to the Dirty Boy Amp.

I’m subscribed, but UA-cam never puts TT in my feed. Is that common?
As always nice works fellas.
Not sure…did you click the bell?
Yes!
Greg Germino!

Some of these guys have zero personality and are anti-social. It's also obvious Dave doesn't like Reinhold Bogner
Are friedman amps still backordered at every retailer in the US and elsewhere?
Marc do you or dave know BILL LANDRY? He makes great amps ans would be a good guest to have on?
Would love to see Joe Naylor from Naylor Amps/Reverend on the show. Love my Naylor amp.
