I love Stockings. As a child, Santa always put a big juicy orange in the toe to fill it out! We got to open one present Christmas eve... remarkably always new PJs, Mom made, she made most of our clothes in the 60s and 70s. My Grandparents always filled Magic bags with popcorn and candy from all over the world. There was a shop that sold things from all over, food, candy ... it was super rare in those days. But we had gummy bears, and other never heard of in the US yet candy, Toblerone... and we got to eat that while we opened gifts, one gift at a time while everyone watched to go oooh, ahhhh and my favorite, put it on!! Whether it was clothing or not. 😅
I love that other people put oranges in their Christmas stockings. I guess in the early 1900s oranges, apples and nuts were a treat to get in a stocking as my mother always told me, she’s 92. Now people put oranges in the bottom of stockings for good luck I’ve heard. I always put the “little sweetie’s” tangerines in my kids stockings and of course a few chocolate gold coins. 🥰🎄🧦🎁
That sounds like such an amazing Christmas to wake up to! How fun to try different snacks from all over and the orange is such a good idea to fill out the toe!
I give my family gift cards as a little bonus gift. I find gift card holders that hang and hide them in the Christmas tree. Even the 50 year olds love hunting for theirs!
