In 1983,One of my office colleague at Pune has sung this song so nicely that I became the ardent fan of Talet Mahamood and a listener of Hindi old songs since then.
The most appreciable song of that time and among the best of talat and the first and foremost credit goes to the phenomenal creative genius writing of Shailendra and the music was a perfection of the duo maestro Shankar Jaikishan
Love this song thanks for posting, I wish the sound is little better. I understand the original must be not so good and Tommy made all the improvement he could.
The worst part was that 'warble' at the beginning and from time to time. I have no idea how to fix something like that. Other than that it sounds kind of 'scratchy' but not too bad. But yes, I wasn't happy with the way it sounded.
@@Tommydan333 Unfortunately, you can not overlay and replace the audio with the song from the vinyl records because they are different and all the videos of this song I have seen so far have the same problem. In those days all the songs were live recorded on an optical recorder and only the next day after the optical track was developed they would know if the recording was ok. Because of this delay and since there was no way to edit the songs once they were recorded, they used to record multiple takes. Usually, the shorter ones of good quality around 3 minutes were used for the 78 rpm records and the longer ones were used for the film. That is why many times the songs in the film and different versions of the 78 rpm records were different.
There is an interesting story about this song. This song was written by lyricist Shailendra using burned out match sticks. It so happened that Shailendra and assistant music director Dattaram were discussing the movie situation, mood etc. of this song in Hanging Garden in Mumbai while Shailendra was writing the lyrics, but after writing the intro verses his pen ran out of ink. They did not have another pen or pencil. Shailendra got worried. He said if he does not finish the song he will lose his chain of thoughts. He did not know what to do. Then his eyes fell on the burned out match sticks he had used to light his cigarettes. He picked up those burned out match sticks and finished writing this song. This story and many more interesting tidbits were told by Dattaran in a video called Mastibhara Hai Sama.
Not many know that Shankar Singh gave this complex tune to Shailendra to write the lyrics. Poor Shailendra did not even have a paper and pen ready for the occasion. Perplexed he went out of the studio and sat on the nearby footpath. As he lit his cigarette with the burnt wooden match stick he wrote on the cigarette cover the lyrics of this song. 😊😊😊
Wow so no one has a good quality of this song (with the clip. The 45s and 78s are pretty fine). I wonder whether the sound just deteriorated or if the original recordings were just bad.
