    Quick note on the power figures based on real world numbers on the same dyno (AF1Racing):
    The 750's 95 bhp was a substantial overestimate and the 900's 95 bhp is a mild underestimate (A2). A few internal changes for the 900 to reduce friction help, and it is otherwise identical (i.e. cams, intake, exhaust, cylinder head) to the 750.
    All in all, the 900 makes about 20% more peak torque (not surprising given the 20% displacement hike)
    That rises to a 40% increase at 3000 rpm, giving better tractability (same heads)
    However it drops to 10% around 9000 rpm, resulting in a 10% increase in peak power as well (same cams)
    The 900 is slightly heavier than the 750, especially earlier models without ABS and the original engine cases.

    American here: i have wanted a shiver 750 for years, and now I guess I have to dream of a 900!
    Czech Republic roads are quite good; I have driven allover czech.
    I absolutely love the Czech Republic and I can't wait to visit again!

    Enjoyable review, nice on board camera angles. It's nice that Aprilia have kept the high exhausts when so many manufactures have gone under slung.

    Good review! And, very nice of you to do it in english ! thanks.
    I have the 750 Shiver and I love it. It doesn't has a lot of power but it gives many smiles to the gallon, with cool looks, great engine sound, decent handling and unique brand to be a part of. And it it quiet reliable and not expensive to maintain.

    Great review. I own the bike and it is a great bike for real roads, with usable power, easy for commuting and also traveling. It has very good sound. If you want a good all around street bike it is perfect. For track use go for a street triple r/rs

    Two cylinders 95hp, three cylinders 105hp, four cylinders 115hp. I’d have the V twin any day over the others. Not ridden the MT but it’s sister the Tracer has atrocious fuelling at low speed. It’s either on or off and the only Rider mode that is any use is Sports. I wish Aprilia would give it a nice looking fairing so it can be regarded as the true successor to the Falco.

    The engine is simpler to maintain and more street/high mileage friendly than V4 or DUCATI. Real world bike for the street. If Aprilia would put some solid mounting points for hardcases could be made a nice high mileage minimalist tourer. I really like the bike and a terrific video. RIDE SAFE.😎

    Thank you. Just a couple of things: WEIGHT - one of the most important factors in the 'feel' of a bike; did I miss it? When comparing with other bikes please compare weights. Secondly, price. Sure, one bike may feel better than another but for most people price, or value if you have plenty of cash, is important. It would be useful to quote price when comparing bikes. Maybe fuel consumption too, but we can look that up. Cheers

    The shiver 750 made nowhere near its advertised power. The few dyno runs you can find show around 75 hp. The claim of 95 hp was pure fantasy/misrepresentation. One can only assume this bike is the same.
    I really liked the look of Shiver, but the falsified hp claim coupled with Aprilia QC and warranty issues I went Z900. Fastest bike I have ever ridden , now at 50, fastest I would ever want too.

    Hey great video! could you tell me your experiences with the a2 version? I'm thinking about getting one, although I'm a little bit torn between the shiver and the mt 07 or z650, especially considering the difference in price. But I thought it may be cheaper in the long run, because it should be a great bike for the a license aswell.

    • @stro8003
      @stro8003 6 років тому +5

      I live in germany and have the shiver 900, restricted to 48 hp. It is a bit heavy, almost 220kg. So the z650 and mt07 are ca 30kg lighter, which is quite a lot. My top speed was around 165 kph. I think that the shiver sounds and looks better than the mt and z650, but in retrospect, i wish i would have went with the mt07. I rode all 3 of in test rides, and mt is imo the best one. The torque and power delivery feels much more aggressive compared to the other two. Due to the light weight of the mt and kawaski, i think the acceleration is equal to the acceleration of the shivers, plus the handling is better. The shiver doesnt feel all that heavy, but it definetly isnt as flickable as the other bikes. Also, it really doesnt matter that the other bikes only have around 70 hp in my honest opinion, because once you ride above 150 kph for a short period of time, it becomes annoying. I advise not to get a shiver 900, it is not a good beginner bike as i have learned from my own experiance. You should also consider getting the ktm duke 690. It is a lot of fun, very light, very good handling a tons of torque. Or the suzuki sv 650. The z650 is also cool, but it was not as fun to ride as the mt or the duke, which i also test rode. But you should test them yourself, good luck finding a suitable bike

      Sol Invictus Ich habe grade gesehen, dass du auch deutsch sprichst, also schreib ich nochmal, da ich mich besser verständlich machen kann. Hab mich letztes jahr nach probefahrten mit der z650, der duke 690 und 390, der mt07 und der shiver dazu entschieden, die shiver 900 zu kaufen, weil ich auch dachte, dass ich damit später besser offen fahren kann. Mein fazit nach einem halben jahr ist, dass es schon ein gutes motorrad ist, aber kein gutes erstes motorrad. Der grund dafür ist erstens der preis. Als anfänger ist es sehr wahrscheinlich, dass man einen unfall oder irgendeine panne hat, ist mir auch schon passiert. Dadurch verliert dein motorrad viel an wert, von daher wäre es vielleicht sogar noch besser, wenn du eine günstige, gebrauchte, kleinere 48 ps maschine holst, wie eine cb500 oder eine ältere suzuki sv 650. Ich persönlich kenne keinen motorradfahrer, der noch nie einen unfall in den ersten paar jahren hatte, und daher ist es meiner meinung nach schon schade, 8000€+ für ein brandneues motorrad auszugeben und damit die typischen anfängerfehler zu machen. Zweitens das gewicht. Für einen anfänger ist es besser, auf einem leichteren motorrad anzufangen, um gute fahrfertigkeiten zu bekommen. Es gibt mehr raum zu korrigieren, das motorrad fällt schneller in die kurve etc. Drittens finde ich eigentlich, dass der fahrspass auf einer mt07, duke 690 etc größer ist. Das ist mir erst rückblickend aufgefallen, nachdem ich schon länger mit der shiver gefahren bin. Du solltest mal die mt07 und die duke probefahren. Die shiver hat zwar mehr drehmoment und ps, aber auf 48ps gedrosselt beschleunigt man schon deutlich langsamer als die anderen, und der gewicht unteschied macht den leistungsunterschied bei den offenen maschinen praktisch wieder wett. Der einzige vorteil der shiver ist eine höhere höchstgeschwindigkeit offen, aber die 20kmh unterschied sind kein kaufgrund, ausserdem ist es sowieso extrem unbequem, mit solchen geschwindigkeiten auf einem naked bike zu fahren. Das sind so meine gedanken. Ich hoffe ich konnte weiterhelfen

      @Sol_Invictus98 6 років тому +2

      Vielen, vielen Dank für deinen Kommentar. War echt extrem hilfreich! Ja hab schon fast befürchtet, dass die beiden kleineren objektiv betrachtet deutlich passender sind.. Wird dann doch wohl am wahrscheinlichsten auf die MT hinauslaufen, die ich allerdings auch echt schön finde. Beim Thema Unfall bzw Panne kann ich dir voll und ganz zustimmen. :D hab seit fast 3 Jahren a1 und es auch geschafft mich einmal hinzulegen. :D vor allem die Duke werd ich mir auch nochmal in echt ansehen, auch wenn die Strecke zum nächsten KTM-Händler doch noch ein Stückchen weiter ist.

      @stro8003 6 років тому +1

      Sol Invictus Mit der mt kann man nichts falsch machen. Die duke 690 ist momentan sehr günstig, da ja die neue 790 rauskommt. Ich habe schon letztes jahr ein 2016 modell gesehen mit 0km für 6000€. Es lohnt sich auf jedenfall, etwas länger herumzuschauen und alles probe zu fahren. Freut mich, dass ich helfen konnte :)

    Hiya , good review although I had a 750 shiver and certainly wouldn't own another Aprilia , it kept on telling me urgent service needed when there was nothing wrong . A cooling hose then split and it dumped fluid all over the road 😡 It didn't tell me anything then . Luckily I was only 2 miles from home . I also had exhaust sensor go . I repaired it and sold it .

    Is the engine really 90 degrees? The old rotax twins were 60 degrees. I loved my Falco and was disappointed Aprilia went for an overweight Caponord and dropped the Falco completely. Big trailies are fine but are too heavy these days.

      Ducati’s are very expensive to get serviced when the timing belts need changing. If the new v twin engines in the Aprilia’s are as good as the Rotax engines in the old aprilia v twins they will be very reliable and much cheaper to service. I had a Falco for 7 years. The valves clearances never needed adjusting but I only did a few thousand miles each year.

      If I am right Monster 821 is way more expensive and way stronger. This Aprilia is somewhere between Ducati 797 and 821. It would be tough choice, but I may prefer Aprilia in the end of the day. It is nice, very modern bike with one of the best sounds I've ever heard. Also it is above the standard in comfort including the passanger.
