Shep’s command of and enthusiasm for his subject matter is evident in this discussion of Staten Island, a place that 50 years later that many New Yorkers who don’t live there, still remain unaware of its rich history and uniqueness. Well done!
Here's hoping this channel grows. Thank you for bringing this to the utoob platform. There are so many good programs to engage in, here on this platform, and not enough lifetime to consume it all. Of course, Mr. Shepherd came to my own attention, through 'A Christmas Story". Never heard of him prior. Wish I had. I am soon to be 66 years of age, I don't know if my age is an excuse, or because I was a child not in the market area of this show. Let's say I grew up in a once rural town near Newburyport, MA.,in the 1970's. I was more familiar with story teller, commentator Jerry Williams in the Boston radio Marketplace.
Well... let's take a look at the latest audience stats: 0.0% are below 25 2.0% are ages 25-34 3.6% are 35-44 10.6% are 45-54 19.6% are 55-64 64.2% are 65+ 4.1% are female and 95.9% are male
@@greenteablendI am in my late 50s and did not hear Shep on the radio during his time on air, but NJ free-form radio station WFMU ran weekly tapes of his old shows for a while about 15 years ago, and I came to enjoy those shows a lot. Thank you for posting these on UA-cam. I currently listen to about 1 show a week here, and I'm grateful to you for posting!
@@DesmondBedarte I used to listen to WFMU in the 70s when it was owned by Upsala College. As I recall, Vin Scelsa was a DJ there at some point before ending up at WNEW-FM for a few years.

Well I just rode the Staten Island ferry about 4 weeks ago, so Shep was wrong about the Staten Island ferry ending, thankfully.
The last time I rode the ferry it cost a nickel, LOL! How much does it cost today?
