Very practical setup! Greetings from Poland :) If u want get more space u can get refill part for gas catridfes for 4e in poland. Just get 6 catridges and refill them as u go b :D
There is a 12 volt pump that is inside a 6 liter bottle behind the seats (ua-cam.com/video/Y9U_0RO1BJg/v-deo.html). And then I have a litte switch on the wooden board next to the tap where I can turn on the water. Did that answer your question? Otherwise ask again :)
The hole is about 30 cm off the ground and we don't have that many snakes here. I was more worried about getting too much dust into the gas box from outside. But that hasn't been a problem. To a little screen in the bottom of the box would not be a problem but until now I haven't seen the need for it.

It is not so good looking but if you don't have a hightop van then at least the kitchen should be accessible from the outside.
