Aalst, Belgium | Walking and cycling tour in and around the city

- Aalst is a town in the province of East Flanders in the Flemish region of Belgium. In particular, it was thanks to the textile industry and the cultivation of hops that Aalst became an extremely prosperous town. Today it is known as the second most important town in the province of East Flanders. In addition, it is famous for its carnival festivities, a tradition that has been celebrated for some 600 years and takes place during the 3 days before Lent. In particular, in the old belfry, the traditional "throwing of the onions" takes place, where thousands of onion-shaped sweets are thrown with the supposed intention of warding off evil spirits. Also, a large parade with about 70 groups of costumed volunteers crosses the city, a spectacle not to be missed and one more reason to visit the city.

Yo vivo en Aalst desde hace 7 años, y como vosotros habéis mostrado es una ciudad muy bonita, que a mí me sorprendió para muy bien cuando llegué, con unos alrededores también muy recomendables. A todas las visitas que he tenido les ha gustado mucho la ciudad.
Sus gentes son muy amables, y yo tengo muy buenos amigos aquí.
Les recomiendo que visiten la ciudad, y que prueben la gastronomía que también es muy recomendable.
