As sad as it is, Ubisoft is finally getting what they deserve. Years of printing soulless games are finally catching up to them. Their games have become a punch line of, and a caricature of everything wrong with the industry. And the fact that one of their CORE FOCUSES going forward is going to be games as a service just proves the wrong people are calling the shots.

I'm a be honest that's absolutely disrespectful to assassin's creed and ghost of tsushima. Ghost of Tsushima has its own identity, same with Assassin's creed. Funnily, the weakest part of tsushima is literally the assassin's aspect. Parkour, for example, has absolutely nothing on assassin's creed. This whole weird aspect of gamers wanting to see games fail is insane to me.

As soon as Sucker Punch announced Ghost of Yotei my hype almost vanished completely for AC Shadows…Ghost of Tsushima was a masterpiece and the gameplay was so far superior to anything Ubisoft is going to put out.
Would just like to remind people who think this delay will make a difference that Ubisoft delayed Skull And Bones multiple times, it’s the funniest flop since Anthem

Financial situation could be salvaged. I recently made a John Wick style action montage using Splinter Cell Blacklist stylish takedowns. Looks really cool. If only we got a proper John Wick game that way, Ubi could license and stay afloat. They have all the right tools already. Just give real gamers what they want. Don't take them for granted.

Aside from the drama, looking at the gameplay and trailers, they really have been slacking with this game. Naoe's parkour is god awful. she spends seconds longer on moves that takes all other AC games half as much time to do and the animations and traversal is visually more smooth. even liberation looked better and it was a vita port of AC 3. Also that last trailer had the moonwalking horse which was just embarrassing and some of the animations were not fluent and snappy. Also the time period looks inauthentic from multiple inaccuracies. Like what happened to the studio who's replication of France was so accurate, that they used their model of the Notre Dame to rebuild it. Even their tertiary merch for the game is rough. Ubisoft needs a reality check.

But Ubisoft's biggest problem is trying to create games for everyone. Its far better to make a game that's generally good but really nails one or two types of gameplay elements that helps it give itself a stable audience. Like the presence of Stealth and Historically Accurate settings in the AC games 😅
I think it will get delayed again... the investors will push hard enough and there will be major shake ups at the top of Ubisoft

I'm not really surprised by Ubisoft tanking. Their formula is stale as hell.
I’m a little bit left of centre, not extreme on the political spectrum in any way. IMHO all of these companies need to study Mass Effect 1 through 3 on effective ways to bake in progressive messaging without pandering, without being too on the nose, and without speaking down to their players (if this is what they want to do. I also support devs like Ken Levine who makes games from a more libertarian/conservative perspective as long as “the message” isn’t taking priority over fun).
Same problem with their hiring policies, like not hiring men to seem more progressive💀
Ubisoft has gone from being a company where I preorder several games to preordering almost none of them. Delaying Shadows is a good move, and giving actual content value in the preorder beyond early access is also a good move.
There was a lot more in the memo that you didn’t cover, and I think it’s relevant that Ubisoft seem to fully understand that releasing unfinished and buggy games just isn’t acceptable anymore. That’s good news, because Ubisoft at their best is pretty great, but they haven’t been consistent for a while.
But and I have a but are they doing these good moves just for the backlash because with all the drama did they really think that releasing a buggy game would be good no I think they got some data and it told them this game will have lower then expected sales numbers we need to polish it release it on everything and hopefully next time we do better unfortunately if you know anything about that next assassins creed project which not as bad as this one but haha just you wait

They wanted them to shoehorn black people into the game despite there being zero evidence of any non-whites living in Bohemia at the time. There actually was POCs in KCD tho, the Cumans. Cumans were Turkic-mongol.
They thought the critic score was good but failed to look at the players rating of the game. Critics don't matter. Customers do and when you make your game for the critics and not the customers there is a problem, especially when those critics like to push agendas and are social activists masked as journalists. It really is that simple. They forgot who their key demographic was and they have seriously misread the room.

I believe the delay is simply to buy the company more time before it dies. Shadows isn't really changing between now and its new release date.
I disagree if shadows where to come out buggy and broken and with all the drama then they would really be cooked but they know that game is not polished enough
@@ISGAMINGFORNERDS But the drama will all still be there in February, yet the game will not be materially improved by then. This just gives Ubisoft through the end of the fiscal year to drum up additional financing/investment to keep the company afloat. If Ubisoft released the game in November, the company would be dead by Christmas. At least this way people have jobs through the spring.
Yes devs are horrible of late. But on the other hand the game beach about somethings are useless mods and ngplus good issues to bring up. If it runs on 30 or 60, the engine is just complaining about nothing. Look at starfield great example of spoiled rot gamers searching for irrelevant reasons to complain. Starfield will be like cyberpunk. I still some games can be saved, but games can't. I'm just tired of devs turning their back on the fans. I stopped caring about the assassin's creed. It's more like wow the series is still going why? Or crap another enough already.
People spent years asking for a Japanese Assassin game. Salivating for it. Then they delivered a game in Japan where he isn't a Japanese assassin, and instead is cast as a foreign warrior brute. Bizarre. Really bizarre. As if they heard all the pleas of fans for a game and intentionally delivered the game people were not asking for.
Remember, this did not happen overnight. This had to pass multiple meetings and iterations. It is all by design.
Sorry Matty, I disagree that progressivism has helped gaming. At the end of the day, companies have believed the lie that pandering to people who doesn't even game would expand their audience. In reality they actively shrunk it and it's time to harvest what they have sowed.

I feel like with Star Wars they thought they could just sail through on IP name alone and get lazy., then again t has felt as if Ubi has been phoning it in for a while now.
As for AC Shadows, well it's unfortunate the route they took when you know they wouldn't have done the same if it were set say in Africa and the character based on a Foreigner to the land. I've waited for a decade for one of these set in Feudal Japan to play as a Samurai and not some wanna be, not that I'm against having the character in the game in some capacity such as NPC or even a DLC side mission. I've no intention of buying this at all, I was letdown by Valhalla and haven't really enjoyed the series since Origins.

I don’t think it’s much of a coincidence in the fact they moved the release to February most likely because of four reasons:
1. It’s most likely that the US will be where the “majority” of sales will be based and releasing on that month gives it a certain level of protection from criticism…
2. That month being black history month means it will likely receive a higher level of protection from criticisms of its decision to use Yasuke as a protagonist and further propagating the myth that Thomas Lockley created that Yasuke was a samurai to sell his books…
3. With it being about 5 months away it will give them maybe enough time to scramble and remove the Buddha statue that no one has the rights to replicate like Ubisoft showed off Yasuke praying too in a trailer…
4. They also probably haven’t gotten the rights to any of the historical symbols or clan’s symbols and even if they get them within this time span they would have to fix numerous misuses of the symbols or disrespecting them like in one trailer showing oda clan symbol being cut off on the sides on a banner (which would have been reason of execution for the banner maker) and the symbol being plastered onto Yasuke sword sheath which can only be used by the oda clan (could be misremembering who exactly can use it but definitely not Yasuke)
So yeah there is numerous issues that are plaguing this game’s design and I doubt it will be fixed by this new release date and will either delay again or release it during a time where criticism will be frowned upon because of one its main protagonists…

He was a slave, an indentured servant. He carried around Nobunaga's stuff for him. Nobunaga would bring Yasuke to parties and force him to strip down naked like a zoo animal to impress the party guests who couldnt believe their eyes over seeing a person with black skin. They thought it was paint at first. He wasnt a samurai. People should stop trying to change the histories of other people's cultures because it makes them feel better about themselves.

@@lssjgaming1599 well it kind of is because their one time to do a long awaited japanese themed AC game now has a black protagonist with hip hop music? Even if it was based on a true story and they weren't forcing DEI, the rest of the social, political, and gaming landscape makes everyone believe that's what they are doing. I don't care about any group of people being in media or not. I loved Origins for example. Maybe my favorite AC game. That was in Egypt. All characters were black to my recollection.
But the fact is, they made a Japanese themed game star a black guy at the height of this DEI trend and people will reject that.
The industry and us as gamers needs this company to fail hard. They need to learn a lesson.
I’d bet real money that part of their decision to delay til February was to use Black History Month against criticism.

So many game studios need to close, and go away. The industry is saturated with average-below average releases every year, Ubisoft closing would be a drop in the bucket.

I just don't understand how they go and have a black Samurai in Feudal Japan. No I don't care ONE existed. All other Assassins creed games had local ethnicity as the protagonist.
Italy, Egypt, UK, Greece and so on. Then they do Japan and couldn't do a male Japanese Samurai. It screams of pandering but the idiotic part is they take away from Japan.

This game will make or break Ubisoft. On the cusp of a great downfall financially, their biggest franchise releases on the most requested setting. if this game is great it could save them. Something like an AC odyssey but even better
Last great AC was black flag. Last semi decent was Syndicate. Origins and beyond was rpg trash and you didn't play as an actual assassin. They are hack and slash games

ubisoft used to make some really good games when it was all dudes who just liked games - by gamers, for gamers. but then wokies and money grubbers got in, hijacked it, and ran everything into the ground. they turned so many beloved franchises into straight up turd. it's sad.
An interesting thing with Ubisoft is that their only uncontroversially good recent games tend to be ones you couldn’t tell were made by Ubisoft (Mario rabbids, Prince of Persia, etc)

Come on guy you expect historical accuracy from Ubisoft game for my assassin Creed game and people been saying it before about them taking there own route
See, I never wanted this. I think the worst part of every AC game is the AC stuff, I wish they'd just make games. My dream was a Rockstar made samurai game, like RDR2, but then the genre exploded.

they delayed ACS to a month that has a yakusa like a dragon game, a monster hunter game, a kingdom Come deliverance game and avowed also releasing in it.

For the price they charge for their games, it's only reasonable to expect a fully polished game. Their idea of releasing a game, at top price, and then fixing it with updates is taking the p*ss a bit. It's like they don't give a sh*t. I don't pre-order games anymore. I wait until after release until I've seen a few videos and reviews. I'm sure I'm not the only one doing that. You just can't trust the hype. People are tired of paying top money for games that turn out to be utter rubbish. I hope Ubisoft can save this game and it turns out to be good, but one gets the idea that the company is run by people with different agendas, and it shows in the quality of their releases.

Why don't developers have "create a character" with race and preferences included. If you feel like "giving a little extra", write some context taking into account those characteristics? Because that costs more money to divide content to represent everyone. Lol. Then don't include it at all for every character option. Pick your race and who and what you wanna bang. This tech has been around for 20 years now.
