    Jay, I don't want to minimize your comments about accessing hunting spots while living in the lower mainland (I lived there for 4 years) but we also have access issues in the interior (Region 3 is where I live and hunt) with private land owners blocking access to crown land. I encourage all hunters to hunt those areas so we don't lose more hunting grounds. I fought a private ranch in Region 3 over their illegally restricting access to crown land that was adjacent to the ranch and is excellent for whitetails, muleys, and bears. I won the battle (they backed down before it became a lawsuit). Since then, 2019, this area has been open to hunters without ranch interference; locals who thought the ranch controlled the land are now hunting it after not being able to for at least 10 years.
    We, as hunters, should stand up and fight illegal access restrictions or hunter harassment, every single time we face it.
    Cheers.

      You make a great point and I certainly didn’t mean to infer that other hunters don’t face similar challenges. That’s awesome that you were able to open up that access for hunting!

    I always love your work, keep it up! I would like to see some trail camera setup strategies. From e-scouting planning to in the field set up, why you chose those locations, how you setup your cameras and how to use the information while hunting.

      Totally agree with this, every day I get questions about how I would approach an area and why or if I see an animal in the distance what my next move would be to get within striking range.

    Jay, as always great work sir. You make an excellent point and I agree the majority of successful hunters are putting in huge amounts of their free time e-scouting, hanging cameras and learning their hunting areas. I spent years slacking off just wandering around the woods hoping to get lucky even though I had a mentor who tried to teach me valuable lessons. Let’s just say my strategy didn’t work haha. I now spend a tremendous amount of time researching an area, e-scouting and boots on ground. These methods have paid off huge and I know my “honey holes” so well I’m able to be successful almost every year. Please keep up this type of content because there is so much value added!

    Would love to hear some of those financial strategies you have used in the past and now to be able to hunt as much as you have…especially when you were consulting

    Thank you for sharing. Your videos are one of the best to watch. It shows people what hunters go through all the time. Like you said, most people just want to see the trophy but hunting is way more than that. Hunting is all about being outdoors and enjoying God’s creation!

    I’m from Maple Ridge and this perfectly shows what B.C hunting can look like for the person without a family plot of land.

    I like the fact that is a real hunt sometimes...when your hunting a new spot or animal....its all part of the fun

      Agree 100% but I think to be well rounded it’s important ti have both. I concentrated too much on big adventure trips to new spots for too long and didn’t bother spending any time developing reliable spots closer to home.

    Always enjoy your reviews. My 2c would be to keep the none hunting/review vids short ~10 min. But keep the hunting vids and review vids the same length with the attention to detail you always give

    I'm currently exploring my local area for circuitous routes for hiking and widlife spotting and more and more often come up against private property gates, compelling me to go back the way I came. It feels like a retreat when that happens, but not a total defeat.
    I'd like to see a piece on boots, or boot maintainence. Got my first high quality pair last month and I'm astonished by the ground I can now cover.

      Scouting trips are never a failure. Your out there to gain knowledge of the area. You checked off a lot of access questions marks for sure. 💪🏻

    How do you find the big timber that has never been logged I can never seem to find any in the lower mainland or nothing substantial enough to hold game.

    • @MindfulHunter
      @MindfulHunter  3 місяці тому

      Two different ways. Google earth look for the dark chunky green. Also you can look up timber types on topo maps. I can do a quick video on this if it would help.
