Being a man that was raised to never show emotion, this song really helps me communicate with my GF. I wasn't allowed to cry as a child and was always told that love and trust were a weakness. I was raised to always be the protector of my family so im never able to let my guard down so I struggle with loving my GF properly and I shut down so quickly any time there's an issue. I never told her this for years and she never knew until my sister talked about it one day and my GF was shocked. I'm not perfect. But I try my best. I've never really been able to open up to her deeply because I still struggle with that but I use music to speak to her and the 1st time I played this for her she teared up because she finally heard what I haven't been able to say. We're going on 8 years now and I still send her this song at times when I know I'm not doing the best I can be. This song has helped me so much 🙏🏼

This is a song about an emotionally unavailable man. It's sad men aren't taught to express what they're feeling inside, but to instead suppress their feelings and thoughts. Thinking if they hide their emotions they will appear more masculine.

@Joanna Smalls not speaking for all men but it takes a lot to bring me to tears because I been through many ordeals, but at the end of the day I usually just drink it away and sleep on it until the pain subsides. Healthy? No but I feel like nobody actually likes a complainer. Either that or they don't care enough to chat with you about it. God bless the people with someone that listens to them. I totally love this song guys!!!
This song damn near breaks me down every time...lol. I grew up seeing nuthin' but dysfunctional relationships. Nice guys being dogged by shady women. Good women being deceived by boys (disguised as men). By the time that I became old enough to date I was LITERALLY scared to let any woman in. It's rough when u want love but have no trust in your heart!! This is the only song that specifically addresses what it's like to go through it.

Maybe if little girls were taught to actually want the nice guys. Nice guys wouldn't morph into "bad boys" that the women hypocritically claim not to want anything to do with. But who always seem to get pregnant by. And give their bodies to. Until they are past their prime and realiz that they got pregnant by the exact type of men that they shouldn't have been chasing. Until they get older and their looks fade. And father time starts taking its toll on their bodies. Until the "bad boys" aren't after them as much. Because they've traded these types of women in for newer models. Like a car. It's not that nice men don't exist. It's that nice men remain invisible to probably 75% of the female population in this country. Until they're older, with a couple of kids from no good dudes. That's when these types of women want to double back and expect a "nice guy" to step in. And pick up the slack for their irresponsibility of chasing losers.

This song hits home in so many ways! Remembering how my mother tried to provide us with the materialistic things in life. She never knew that we needed emotional nurturing as a child.
