I DRIVE ONE OF THE MOST DANGEROUS ROADS IN AFRICA |S2EP21|

  • I'm leaving Sinazeze and the lake Kariba to head East again. Next stopover: the sweetest town of Mazabuka. I love the road to get there although very very challenging. I can't see cars but mostly huge packed trucks driving on destroyed roads. I'm impressed but also worried and wondering...
After hours focusing on potholes and other hectic elements on the road, I reach Mazabuka by the end of the day. I already love the vibes of this town which literally means 'to cross over the river' in a local Tonga language.
I couldn't see me driving more so I decided to withdraw some cash and to find a place to park Rafiki. A restaurant accepted me to park the Hilux and to spend a night on their premises. I enjoyed this time to treat me with a nice pieace of chicken and some fries at the restaurant. I met some locals who invited me to watch a football game. I had an amazing and short night. The next morning, I'm full of good energy and I cannot stop singing and dancing in the car. I stop to buy some fresh fruits and veggies at the ladies on the road, and spent some time with them joking. Zambians are definitely one of my favourite humans now! Okay, let's hit the road again to the North East part of lake Kariba: to Siavonga. I'm amazed by the beauty of the landscape but shocked to see so many cars burnt and completely destroyed along the road. When suddenly, I witness a terrible accident between a massive truck and a small car. I am shocked. Zambia is beautiful but definitely dangerous when it comes to driving around...

    You are very inspiring.
I have travelled every continent before I turned 50 and 54 countries, and in Nov 2019 I decided once I returned from my 2020 overseas trip I would create my home on wheels and travel my home country, Australia, for the next 10 years, I had no idea COVID was going to happen, my decision saved me, as I would've had an overseas ticket to fly somewhere normally.
I also see the world differently now, and I agree with you in everything you say you are amazing. The biggest hurdle I feel we all have as individuals is taking back control of our lives and once you do that, you can do anything. I too always get asked why I'm travelling solo, I wouldn't do it any other way, plus I'm too difficult to live with...lol!
I will be overlanding overseas with my Toyota Hiace in the future, I will be at least 60 years old when I do it, my question is in regards to the issues you had e.g. the Uganda children throwing rocks at your vehicle, is there anything you could've done differently to avoid those things happening?

@@vickimathews1970 hi Vicki, thank you very much for taking the time to watch my adventure and for commenting! I love your mindset and everything you say. I share your thoughts about traveling solo very much, even though I’m still not understood. You sound very inspiring. I couldn’t have changed what happened with the kids throwing stones…sadly. Or maybe not to drive through Uganda but I needed to see this amazing country. The world needs to know about countries in Africa, they need to see the beauty and everything we can learn from Africa. It’s a precious continent, intense, very intense, but precious💙

@@CharlineRibotta wow, I didn't expect you to reply so fast, how do you do it, I know you're back in your home country, still though, you'd be very busy planning your next adventure, I guess?
I think you'd love South America, it's less dangerous, mostly, they do have cougars and all those reptiles, worse than Australia, everybody thinks our spiders and snakes are dangerous, they haven't been to Africa or South America obviously and the bears and wolves in Europe and North America...lol...I think our country is safer than any other continent that large...lol...
I really enjoy watching your adventures, you are one of a handful of solo women travellers I've seen on social media who's travelling in a vehicle, most solo travellers I see on social media are men, or women travelling on motorcycles, you are my idle.
You are more than welcome, you deserve amazing praise for everything you're doing, saying, teaching, etc.
Yes, the only way to stop things from happening is to not do anything...lol...well that counts us out...😂...and I know exactly what you mean by not sleeping soundly, that's happened to me ever since I became a Mum, I'm lucky if I get 5 hours sleep a night, and even that's broken, I'm a light sleeper and my head is always thinking, researching, learning, planning, like yourself, always active in the mind, so hard to switch off in a place where the animals can harm you, or worse kill you, not to mention the odd local who wants what you have, always on edge.
Keep doing what you're doing, it's working and you are a pleasure to watch. If you ever come to Australia please contact me. I'm in a place called Robe in South Australia.

Regarding your fridge, look also for national luna, southafrica. Has a Danfoss aggregat inside. Have it since 3 years 24/7 running and works also in the hot car.
Hope you find a replacement soon.
