  • Continuing our story of Grace Darling while we're in Bamburgh, we have a look at the RNLI Grace Darling Museum.
The Grace Darling Museum is located in Bamburgh, Northumberland. It commemorates the life and heroic deeds of Grace Darling, who famously participated in the rescue of survivors from the shipwrecked SS Forfarshire in 1838. The museum showcases artifacts, memorabilia, and information about Grace Darling's life and the rescue. It's a fascinating place to learn about maritime history and the bravery of individuals like Grace. So join us as we look around
this tribute to the amazing Grace.

Great info guys, glad you did the museum. Looking forward to seeing where your park up might be , all within a few miles of where I live in Rothbury, but love having a night by the coast 😊 Safe travels guys .. ps, love your 4 legged companions, great characters. 👍

Thanks Allison. We think that people miss what Bamburgh has to offer. They go to the castle and the beach and think that's all there is to see. We really wanted to show that there was more.
We are lucky with Nab and Bay. They love being away in the van and travel well.
Glad you get away to the coast when you can.

Interesting museum for sure, I agree about her being on coins and or bills as she is a big part of history. That was a pretty beach indeed, my dogs would love it :o) xx

It was a lovely beach. Even Nab was a little bit happy lol.
Grace was an amazing heroine. Such a shame she died so young only a few years later. xx

Just what I needed today. A visit with my two great friends from across the pond. Miss Grace Darling was a "Beast"! And I mean that only in the best way. Tough, courageous and and truly, an inspiration! This trip just gets better and better. On a side note, I have started to lead climb again. I've been working out quite hard for a solid 3 months now and my strength is slowly coming back to me. My nerve pain is still with me, but I'm pushing through it. I'm tired of it getting in the way of my adventuring. Anyway, hope all is well for you both? All is good here. Have a great weekend and week. See you next Friday. Cheers!

She was a star before stars were a thing. A darling of the press for her heroism. Back home and back to reality for a little while. More books to pour through now as research for our next trip and tranch of videos. Have to admit, we made one atcthe weekend which I'm looking forward to sharing. About a man who has fascinated and enthralled me since I was about 7 years old.
Have a good week both of you.

@@CampervanTales okay, I am ever so curious who this man could be that a seven year old lad would be enthralled with? When I was seven, I was enamored with an American football player named Roman Gabriel. He was a quarterback for the Los Angeles Rams. And I also loved Pelé! The greatest footballer of all time!!! I even got to see him play in person in Seattle Washington in the early 1970’s, when he played for the New York Cosmos. He was a big hero of mine. Anyway, hope your trip was a grand success?! Have a great week! See you on Friday. Cheers!

It will be a long time until the video comes out. We are still back in October with the Northumberland videos. He was called Donald Campbell. My brother who is 10 years older than me had a scrapbook of newspaper cuttings about him and I became fascinated by the story of his life and howz he died. In fact I would say that first started my love of visiting the Lake District. The video will also link one of our favourite rock bands Marillion who were also fascinated with Donald. Have a look at their video on UA-cam. The song to search for is called Out Of This World. The lyrics are:~
Three hundred miles an hour on water
      In your purpose-built machine
No one dared to call a boat
      Screaming blue
      Out of this world
      Make history
      This is your day
      Blue Bird
      At such speeds, things fly
      What did she say?
I know the pain of too much tenderness
Wondering when or if you'll come back again
      Wanting to live for you
      And being banned from giving
But only love will turn you around
Only love will turn you around
      Only love
Only love will turn you around
So we live you and I
      Either side of the edge
And we run and we scream
      With the dilated stare
      Of obsession and dreaming
What the hell do we want
      Is it only to go
      Where nobody has gone
A better way than the herd
      Sing a different song
      Till you're running the ledge
To the gasp from the crowd
      Spinning round in your head
      Everything that she said

Hi guys. When you are on the road for a long time how do you go about having a shower or going to the toilet...or do you have a bathroom on board ?...and also washing clothes ?.

    • @CampervanTales
      @CampervanTales  Місяць тому +1

Hi Roger. Sorry for delayed reply. We were away and had patchy Internet.
Toilet wise. We tend to find a coffee shop or public loos though we have the separating toilet @trelino for in the van if desperate. Then we bag and find a dog poo bin.
As for a shower. Mainly strip washes. We always say it was good enough for our grandparents and parents and us as kids. However we have in the past, especially in the Lake District, found a stream to have a dip in and using eco friendly soap it isn't a problem. We don't mind cold water. Other times we have used motorway service stations which mostly have free showers and there is always a leisure centre where we could shower for a small fee. We have never had to resort to a leisure centre though.
Washing clothes. In the past 7 years we have used a launderette twice on longer trips. We usually carry enough clothes with us and have a large dry bag to keep dirty clothes in.
We don't have a bathroom on board as we decided it was a waste of space for something that only gets used once or twice a day. We had one in the old Talbot Rambler that we had and it became a storage cupboard/dumping ground.
